Chapter Eighteen: Pack Your Things and Get Out!
“Boss?” Liu Feifei was momentarily taken aback, unable to grasp what Xiao Chen meant.
“That’s right. From this moment on, Hongyu Entertainment belongs to me,” Xiao Chen nodded.
Once Liu Feifei was certain she hadn’t misheard, she couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “Xiao Chen, are you still dreaming? You’re the boss of Hongyu Entertainment? Then I must be the richest person in Linzhou!”
“Is there anything strange about that? From today forward, Master Xiao is the owner of Hongyu Entertainment,” Zhou Shuang’er said, glancing at Liu Feifei.
Though she was somewhat displeased with Xiao Chen, she liked Liu Feifei even less.
“And who do you think you are? Just because you say so, it’s true?” Liu Feifei sneered at Zhou Shuang’er, then turned to Xiao Chen with a mocking smile. “Xiao Chen, where did you find such a granddaughter?”
“Or did you find yourself a mistress behind your wife’s back? Though, I have to say, the way she addresses you is quite interesting. I’ve heard of girls calling their boyfriends ‘daddy,’ but ‘grandpa’ is a new one. You have quite the taste.”
At these words, Zhou Shuang’er’s expression turned icy. As the eldest daughter of the Zhou family, she couldn’t believe Liu Feifei dared accuse her of being Xiao Chen’s mistress.
“Young Miss?” Just then, an exclamation came from not far away.
A mature woman in her thirties hurried over—it was Liu Feifei’s agent, He Huan.
“Sister He!” Liu Feifei called out quickly.
But He Huan didn’t even spare Liu Feifei a glance. She walked straight to Zhou Shuang’er and greeted her with utmost respect, “Young Miss, what brings you here?”
Seeing this, Liu Feifei’s face changed slightly, a ripple of unease in her heart. “Sister He, who is this?”
“This is the eldest daughter of the Zhou family, Zhou Shuang’er,” He Huan replied.
In an instant, Liu Feifei’s face drained of color, her mouth suddenly dry. The girl before her was actually from the Zhou family? And she’d just recklessly accused her of being Xiao Chen’s mistress.
Moreover, since when did Xiao Chen have a connection to the Zhou family? Could what Zhou Shuang’er said earlier be true? Was Xiao Chen really the boss of Hongyu Entertainment?
As she was thinking this, Zhou Shuang’er spoke coldly, “Is this person from Hongyu Entertainment?”
He Huan could easily tell that Liu Feifei must have just offended Zhou Shuang’er. She shot Liu Feifei a glare and quickly explained, “Young Miss, her name is Liu Feifei. She’s the artist that President Ye instructed us to focus on promoting.”
“Ye Long? And who does he think he is?” Zhou Shuang’er was in no mood for pleasantries.
“Yes, yes, of course. President Ye is nothing compared to you, Young Miss,” He Huan said with a sycophantic smile.
Only then did Xiao Chen realize that the slightly plump middle-aged man who was with Liu Feifei at lunch was the current head of Hongyu Entertainment.
At that moment, he spoke up, “Where is Ye Long?”
He needed to make arrangements in advance for Hongyu Entertainment to turn down Xu Chengyang and instead agree to collaborate with Xu Qingran.
He Huan didn’t answer immediately but instead looked at Xiao Chen with a hint of curiosity. “Young Miss, who is this?”
“This is Xiao Chen. Grandfather has already handed Hongyu Entertainment over to him. From now on, he will be fully in charge of all company affairs,” Zhou Shuang’er said by way of introduction.
At these words, He Huan’s gaze toward Xiao Chen immediately changed. “So you’re President Xiao. Just now, Xu Chengyang from the Xu family came by. He and President Ye are acquainted and often meet. President Ye is personally entertaining him right now.”
Meanwhile, Liu Feifei stared at Xiao Chen in disbelief. She would never have imagined that the poor student she had always looked down on could suddenly become the boss of their company.
Remembering how she had mocked and insulted him before, her expression shifted again and again.
“Oh?” Xiao Chen ignored Liu Feifei’s reaction and his eyes flickered. So Xu Chengyang was friends with Ye Long.
If that was the case, Xiao Chen was certain that Xu Chengyang had played a hand in sabotaging Xu Qingran’s negotiations with Hongyu Entertainment.
He turned to Zhou Shuang’er and said, “Shuang’er, it’s not convenient for me to show up. Go tell Ye Long to get lost, and let Xu Chengyang know that he’s not qualified to work with Hongyu Entertainment.”
Xiao Chen didn’t want Xu Chengyang to find out about his involvement; it would be difficult to explain if word got back to Xu Qingran.
Though Zhou Shuang’er was unhappy at being ordered around, she remembered Zhou Wangtian’s instructions and agreed, “Alright.”
She then told He Huan to take her to Ye Long’s office.
That left only Xiao Chen and Liu Feifei standing there.
The pride and arrogance had completely vanished from Liu Feifei’s face. Biting her lip, she stole glances at Xiao Chen. After a moment, she spoke in a low voice, “Xiao Chen, we were classmates at least. For the sake of old times…”
Xiao Chen glanced at Liu Feifei. “Let the past be the past. Just do your job well from now on.”
He had no intention of stooping to her level.
Liu Feifei hadn’t expected Xiao Chen to forgive her so easily; she was overjoyed and bowed to him repeatedly. “Thank you, President Xiao! Thank you so much!”
At the same time, her eyes glimmered. Xiao Chen’s forgiveness came so easily—could he have another motive?
Looking closely, Xiao Chen was actually quite handsome, far better than Ye Long. In the past, she had only disliked him for being poor, but now, as the boss of Hongyu Entertainment, if he were interested in her, she would be more than willing.
...
Ye Long’s office.
“Brother Ye, I really have to thank you for this,” Xu Chengyang said, delighted as he looked over the partnership agreement.
A trace of triumph flashed in his eyes. “Xu Qingran, you actually think you can challenge me? You’re not even close.”
“Let’s see how I destroy you now. You’ll just be a low-level employee for the rest of your life, with no chance of ever rising up again.”
“And Xiao Chen, this was your brilliant idea. Xu Qingran doesn’t even have a department head position anymore—Sun Ling and Xu Qingran must be dying to kill you by now!”
Ye Long smiled and waved his hand. “You’re too polite, Brother Chengyang. It was nothing, really. Just sign your name, and our partnership will be official.”
Xu Chengyang picked up his pen, signed his name, and the two shook hands. “Looking forward to working together!”
But just then, a voice called out from outside the door, “Xu Chengyang, who gave you the right to cooperate with Hongyu Entertainment?”
Zhou Shuang’er and He Huan walked in together.
“Hm?” Xu Chengyang frowned, not recognizing Zhou Shuang’er. He gave her a cold glance. “And who do you think—”
Before he could finish, Ye Long abruptly stood up and addressed Zhou Shuang’er with the utmost respect. “Y-Young Miss!”
“What?” Xu Chengyang’s words died in his throat.
Hongyu Entertainment belonged to the Zhou family, and anyone Ye Long addressed as “Young Miss” had to be a member of that family.
But Zhou Shuang’er ignored Ye Long entirely and looked straight at Xu Chengyang. “Xu Chengyang, leave the partnership agreement and get out. You’re not qualified to work with Hongyu Entertainment.”
Even knowing Zhou Shuang’er’s identity, Xu Chengyang was somewhat indignant. “Young Miss, you may be of noble birth, but I’ve already signed an agreement with President Ye.”
“Are you planning to breach the contract?”
“That’s an agreement with Ye Long, not with Hongyu Entertainment,” Zhou Shuang’er sneered, then turned to Ye Long. “Ye Long, pack your things and get out. There will be a new head for Hongyu Entertainment from now on.”
With that, Zhou Shuang’er turned and left, leaving Ye Long and Xu Chengyang dumbfounded.
