Chapter Fifty-Eight: What Utter Nonsense Is This?
[Page 1/3]
[Host, you’re thinking about improper things.]
The voice of Green Cilantro came, tinged with a hint of suggestiveness.
Shen Qingli immediately composed herself. “No, I’m not.”
Seeing that Xie Jinchuan hadn’t messaged her, Shen Qingli suppressed the fluttering in her heart and her mood settled instantly.
“President Shen, we need to head to the set.”
Today was the premiere of “Journey,” and as one of the investors, Shen Qingli naturally had to attend.
“Alright, I’ll drive over first. You take the others and pack up the things before coming over.”
There were a lot of posters and merchandise that needed to be set up outside the premiere venue, so they required an extra vehicle for transport.
“Yes, President Shen, drive safely.”
Li Xi said, then led a few women to prepare the merchandise.
The trip was uneventful, and Shen Qingli arrived at the venue.
The location was near the first filming site of “Journey,” by an abandoned factory, and many reporters and media were already there.
The director and assistant director were being interviewed about the show. Shen Qingli’s arrival drew the media’s attention, but security held them back.
She gave the reporters a polite smile and then helped the staff set things up.
Unbeknownst to her, a figure in a black car not far away watched her intently.
[Host, I sense murderous intent!]
Green Cilantro warned, alert.
Shen Qingli frowned slightly, glancing around, but saw nothing.
“I don’t notice anything. Maybe someone’s just annoyed with me.”
She spoke lightly; after all, with so many people attending, it was inevitable some might dislike her.
Just in case, she asked Green Cilantro to investigate. “Anything?”
[Huh?]
Green Cilantro sounded surprised. [I definitely sensed something just now, but now it’s gone…]
[Don’t worry, Host, I’ll stay alert and keep you posted!]
Shen Qingli smiled at this, picturing Green Cilantro raising a determined hand.
“Alright.”
She glanced around, but suddenly the director’s voice rang out. “What are you all doing? How could you forget something so important? Go get it now!”
“What’s wrong?”
Being close by, Shen Qingli walked over and learned that a set of crucial costumes had been left in the nearby parking lot.
[Page 2/3]
Seeing everyone busy, Shen Qingli volunteered, “I’ll go with her. Director, you handle the other matters first.”
She said this, then pulled the staff member along toward the parking lot.
“Thank you, President Shen.”
Shen Qingli waved it off. “It’s nothing. I’m just standing around here anyway.”
Better to help out than be surrounded by reporters—at least she could keep busy.
The two walked to the parking lot, chatting and laughing, unaware that a shadowy figure had silently appeared nearby.
Rong Qiaoyi hid behind a car, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.
With a slight movement of her fingers, a wisp of red spiritual energy drifted into Shen Jingrong’s body.
[Host, I just sensed something unusual… you should… be… careful.]
Green Cilantro’s voice trailed off as the connection was suddenly cut again.
Shen Qingli’s vigilance shot up, and she heard the sound of a car’s tires in the mud.
“Watch out!”
Seeing a black car barreling straight toward her, she reacted quickly, pulling the staff member aside just in time.
“Go, get out of here!”
She realized the car was coming for her and pushed the staff to safety.
Then she ran toward an open area nearby.
The screeching of brakes drew the attention of the film crew.
“I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you, Shen Qingli!”
Shen Jingrong screamed, flooring the accelerator as she bore down on her.
The tires screeched shrilly as Shen Qingli stumbled, looking up to see the car hurtling toward her.
“Look out!”
A woman’s voice cried out as Shen Qingli was pushed aside, while that figure was struck and sent flying by the car.
“Qiaoyi!”
The agent shouted in terror, running frantically toward the fallen figure.
With Rong Qiaoyi unconscious, Shen Jingrong regained some clarity.
But when she saw the wrong person had been hit, panic flashed in her eyes. She threw the car in reverse, trying to escape, but someone yanked the door open.
“Get out!”
Her collar was seized, and she was dragged forcefully from the car and thrown to the ground.

“Ah! It hurts!”
Shen Jingrong cried out, and upon seeing the murderous aura surrounding Shen Qingli, she shivered uncontrollably.
“W-what are you going to do to me…”
She stammered, backing away in terror.
“What do you think I’m going to do?”
Shen Qingli sneered coldly, dragging her back. “Shen Jingrong, you’ve gotten bold—trying to run me over. You can spend the rest of your life in prison!”
Prison?!
No!
She couldn’t accept it!
“You didn’t die, so why should I go to prison? I won’t! I’d rather die than go!”
Shen Jingrong struggled, and the scene—along with her words—were all captured by the media who had rushed over.
“I didn’t die, but someone else might!”
Though Shen Qingli disliked Rong Qiaoyi, she had still saved her life.
Facing Shen Qingli’s cold expression, Shen Jingrong’s eyes turned vicious.
“Even if someone dies, it’s your fault, Shen Qingli! If it weren’t for you, none of this would have happened! Ha, if someone dies, it’s because of you! Ha ha ha, all because of you! If not for you, no one would have died, ha ha ha!”
Shen Jingrong laughed madly, drawing the attention of the crowd.
Soon, a reporter recognized her and whispered, “Isn’t that the Shen family’s second daughter, Shen Jingrong? She ran off when the Shen family collapsed.”
“Look at her—who knows where she’s been.”
“Wow, could she have been lying in wait all this time, just to run down Shen Qingli?!”
“She looks completely unhinged…”
All the chatter reached Shen Qingli’s ears, and a cold light flashed in her eyes as she flung Shen Jingrong’s hand away.
“Ah!”
Shen Jingrong, thrown aside, scrambled to her feet and tried to run.
But she was quickly blocked.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Shen Qingli said coldly, grabbing her and dragging her back.
