Chapter Forty-Six: Taking Over the Shen Corporation
Efficiently concluding the share transfer contract with Shen’s father, Xie Jinchuan handed him a sum of money and arranged for him to go abroad. The amount was considerable—enough to ensure a comfortable life, though it could never restore the opulence he once enjoyed. Shen’s father dared not object; in his mind, this was already the best possible outcome.
As for the current predicament of the Shen Group, Xie Jinchuan hardly considered it a challenge. At a time when the Lu Group had suffered far greater losses, he had managed to turn the tide—so these minor issues at Shen’s seemed trivial to him.
His influence in City A was formidable. The crisis at Shen Group had, in fact, unfolded at his behest, and now that the true master showed no interest in pursuing the matter further, everything was swiftly and quietly resolved.
Within two days, he settled the mess, quelling both the overt and covert threats, and once the company resumed normal operations, he felt the moment had finally arrived.
In the president’s office of Lu Group—
Xie Jinchuan took out his phone and dialed Shen Qingli’s number.
After two rings, the call was answered promptly.
“Hello, Jin, what’s the matter?” came his beloved’s voice through the receiver, a hint of tenderness flickering in his gaze.
“Qingli, come to the office. I have something for you.”
Twenty minutes later, Shen Qingli sat staring at the stack of share transfer contracts before her, then at the refined man seated across from her, momentarily stunned, unable to process it all.
She pointed at the contracts, then at herself. “These are being transferred to me?”
The man before her, clearly amused by her reaction, rested his elbows on the desk, folding his hands to hide a rare smile. In his usually cool phoenix eyes, a trace of indulgence appeared. “That’s right. Shen Group is yours now. You’re its new master.”
Though he knew she was no ordinary woman and cared little for such things, he still wished to present her with the very best.
Shen Qingli could read his expression as she looked at him.
There it was again—that look. It was that very gaze that had unknowingly ensnared her heart.
She thought of the things Mrs. Shen had said; if they were true, then should she ever be killed one day, she would have no one to blame but herself.
After all, who could refuse a man who looked at you that way, who brought the world to your feet?
Deeply moved, she blinked and smiled. “Thank you, Jin.”
Xie Jinchuan’s lips curved gently as he rose to his feet and took her hand. “Would you like to go see your future business empire?”
She was amused by his teasing and played along, laughing, “Alright! Let’s go have a look at the kingdom I’ve just conquered!”
Shen Group’s conference room.
All the department heads of the head office sat in silence, awaiting the arrival of their new heiress, Shen Qingli. Each harbored a measure of unease. Though everyone knew the former chairman had a daughter by that name, it was always Shen Jingrong, her sister, who made appearances at the company.
Everyone assumed Shen Jingrong would be the eventual heir.
Yet, in the company’s darkest hour, with bankruptcy looming, the chairman abruptly transferred his shares to Shen Qingli.
Moreover, her husband swept away every hidden danger in a matter of days, restoring the company to full operation.
Curious about this mysterious spouse, they inquired and were stunned to discover that he was none other than Xie Jinchuan, the power behind the Lu Group—a name they all knew well. None had imagined that their own heiress was his wife. With such a figure backing her, acquiring Shen Group was effortless.
Some even suspected that Xie Jinchuan had orchestrated Shen Group’s downfall as a playful gesture for his wife’s amusement.
Now, hearing that the “heiress” would be touring the company with Xie Jinchuan himself, every manager was on edge.
Lost in their speculations, they heard the conference room door click open.
Leading the way was the usually stern general manager, today uncharacteristically reverent as he ushered a man and a woman into the room.
The man, dressed in a black suit, exuded both elegance and authority with every movement. The woman, in a red dress with black hair and crimson lips, radiated a brilliant beauty, like a peony in full bloom.
At the sight of the pair, the first thought that flashed across everyone’s mind was not one of tension but of how perfectly matched they looked—together, they were a striking pair.
Regaining their composure, the managers dared not stare. Each greeted her respectfully, “President Shen!”
Shen Qingli felt a touch of nervousness as she entered, but the man behind her provided reassurance. She nodded to the assembled staff and took the main seat, “Everyone, please be seated.”
Xie Jinchuan was pleased with their reaction and took the seat beside her.
The meeting commenced, with each department head giving a thorough report.
Though not as powerful as Lu Group, Shen Group boasted an array of subsidiaries. Eager to impress the new boss, the department managers had prepared meticulous presentations.
Food companies, entertainment companies, technology firms, software businesses…
At first, Shen Qingli managed to keep up, but as the meeting wore on, her eyes glazed over. Leaning close to Xie Jinchuan, she whispered, “Why are there so many subsidiaries?”
Inheriting Shen Group, she thought, would require more than eight arms to manage everything.
Watching Xie Jinchuan make decisive strokes as president had seemed impressive—she’d wanted to experience what it was like to be a powerful businesswoman herself. But in these circumstances, she feared she’d be worked to exhaustion.
Xie Jinchuan, amused by her predicament, offered reassurance. “I know it’s too much to handle all at once. I’ll take care of the rest for now—why don’t you start by managing the entertainment company?”
She breathed a sigh of relief at that—managing just one should be possible!
The entertainment company—surely its business was making films and investing in TV dramas. That sounded interesting!
By this time, the department reports had concluded.
Xie Jinchuan spoke up, “Apart from the Tianqi Entertainment Company, which my wife will oversee, I will temporarily manage the other subsidiaries.”
The managers bowed their heads, not daring to object.
With such a capable leader at the helm, the staff could rest easy.
Noticing the naive bewilderment on the “heiress’s” face, the senior executives sighed inwardly.
See? Shen Group was simply Xie Jinchuan’s gift to entertain his wife!
Tianqi Entertainment Company, a subsidiary of Shen Group, was dedicated to discovering new idols and stars, as well as investing in film and television productions. The company had originally been established by Shen’s father to indulge his personal interests, and had survived over the years solely through the efforts of its current manager, Li Xi.
