Chapter 151: Have You No Shame?
After consuming the items, Chu Li felt some changes in her body; her chest felt tight and uncomfortable. She stood up, frowned, and approached the mirror, staring at her reflection in astonishment. Although her facial features remained unchanged, her skin and figure had transformed noticeably. Her skin was as tender as a newborn’s, and her figure was now strikingly alluring. Where her chest had once been flat, a defined cleavage had appeared.
“So these things really cause such obvious changes after eating them! They’re incredible!” she exclaimed in surprise, glancing at the half-full jar. “No wonder Rong Qiao looks so good—she must be using this stuff too!” Chu Li snorted coldly and promptly finished the remaining half. Admiring her now delicate skin, she felt an exhilarating sense of satisfaction.
“What good does it do to just look pretty? Am I not more attractive than you now?” she said proudly, gazing into the mirror before calling her close friend out to the bar for a reunion. She paid no mind to the reputation she was about to establish as a rising star.
Chu Li was naturally carefree, and after a few drinks, her tongue loosened. Many people had already caught wind of her impending debut. They began to speculate quietly. Coincidentally, Su He was working part-time at the bar that night. Although Shen Qingli had taken care of all her expenses, Su He felt she should earn a little spending money herself. So, naturally, she noticed the intoxicated and disoriented Chu Li.
“You’re about to become a big star. How about keeping me company for the night?” Chu Li was being pressured to drink; Su He had no intention of interfering, knowing her friend’s temperament and fearing she might cause trouble by intervening. However, seeing her in such discomfort, Su He approached.
“Chu Li, get up and pay your debts!” Su He frowned, extending her hand firmly toward Chu Li.
“Who are you?” the man looked at the suddenly appearing woman with a strange expression. Upon hearing the words “pay your debts,” he reluctantly loosened his grip on Chu Li’s shoulder.
“Don’t you know? Her father went bankrupt, and she still owes me a million,” Su He said coldly, sizing up the man. “You look like an old flame of hers and seem wealthy. How about you pay it off for her?”
One million! The man frowned, unwilling to settle Chu Li’s debt.
“I don’t know her. We just had a couple of drinks together. Don’t come looking for money from me,” he said.
“Claiming you’ll be a big star, yet your family’s already bankrupt and you’re still throwing money around—what bad luck!” the man muttered as he walked away. Others quickly followed, not wanting to get involved.
Su He took out a star-shaped sobriety pill and stuffed it into Chu Li’s mouth. “You better take care of yourself. Since you want to be a star, don’t go gallivanting around and leaving yourself vulnerable.”
With that, she turned to leave; her shift was over. Chu Li, sobering up, heard Su He’s words. Seeing no one around, she assumed Su He was jealous.
“Wait for me!” Chu Li shouted. Seeing Su He ignore her, she grabbed her bag and staggered after her.
“I’m talking to you! Are you deaf?” she yelled, grabbing Su He, who frowned irritably.
“What do you want? If you’re sober now, just go home,” Su He said, unwilling to engage further.
Just then, Gu Qingming’s car passed by, and he immediately noticed Su He being accosted outside the bar.
“Wait, stop the car,” Gu Qingming ordered.
“Is something wrong? Did you forget something?” Ping Lang asked.
“小师妹” (little junior sister) — a proper term within their company — Gu Qingming’s familiar voice caught Su He’s attention. She turned to see him approaching, masked.
“Senior brother, wait here. I’ll be right there,” Su He said cautiously, not wanting to draw attention to herself as a rising figure.
“Let go!” she said, turning to Chu Li who still held on to her. Chu Li glanced at Gu Qingming but instinctively looked at the little girl beside him.
She recalled the news she had seen online about Xie Jinchuan and Shen Qingli’s child being beside Gu Qingming. And she wondered why the aura from that child felt so comforting.
“Chu Li, I said let go,” Gu Qingming’s cold voice snapped her back to reality. Her gaze flicked between the two of them. She snorted coldly.
“So you’re so tough now because you have someone backing you up. Well, I guess it makes sense—you’re in the same company,” Chu Li sneered.
Su He frowned. “Have you lost your mind from drinking? Do you not know what’s appropriate to say?”
“Mind your own business!” Su He shook off her hand and quickly stepped beside Gu Qingming. “Senior brother.”
“Let’s go. I’ll take you home. A young lady shouldn’t be out alone, it’s not safe,” Gu Qingming said, casting a cold glance at Chu Li. The chill in his eyes made her shrink back a step, her earlier arrogance fading.
Gu Qingming handed Su He the sobriety pill, then strode toward Chu Li.
“Know your limits. Don’t let me hear you spreading any nonsense. Otherwise, you can forget about becoming a star,” he warned.
Seeing Gu Qingming defend Su He so fiercely made Chu Li furious. Why did Su He always have so many people around her, while she was left all alone?
Suddenly, Chu Li noticed a hidden camera. She lifted her head, her lips curving into a seductive smile. Grabbing the man’s shirt, she lunged into his arms.
“Why do you favor that little girl? My figure and face are far better than hers,” she whispered.
“Can’t you be with me instead?” Ping Lang was startled, sensing the lurking paparazzi. He wanted to stop them, but the photographers had already snapped the pictures and fled.
He scowled and approached Chu Li just as Gu Qingming suddenly shoved her to the ground.
“How annoying,” the man said disdainfully. His blatant disgust made Chu Li grit her teeth.
“It doesn’t matter. They got what they wanted and left. Thanks to Su He for giving me this chance,” Chu Li said, brushing off her dress and forcing a smile as she walked away.
Annoying. So annoying. She was determined to become a top star, and then make Gu Qingming beg her on his knees.
Su He looked apologetic. “Senior brother, I’m sorry. Today’s incident is all my fault. Tomorrow’s trending topics won’t be shy to mention it.”
