Chapter 13: Mission Accomplished
Su Manman walked over to Lu Yu, took his hand, and waved it in front of Ye Feng, declaring in a fit of pique, “Lu Yu, I agree to be with you.”
Lu Yu was momentarily stunned by Su Manman’s sudden initiative. Surprise quickly turned to delight. “Manman, are you serious?” His face radiated unabashed joy.
Seeing Lu Yu clutching Su Manman’s hand, Ye Feng frowned and was about to explain when Su Manman abruptly cut him off. “Ye Feng, you don’t need to say anything. I don’t want to hear it. Let’s… get a divorce.” The ones most elated by Su Manman’s decision were Wang Meili and Lu Yu.
“You loser, thank you. If you hadn’t failed to cherish her, Manman wouldn’t have come to me. But you—what right do you have to have Manman? I am her Prince Charming. You can get lost now,” Lu Yu boasted, wearing a smug, punchable grin.
Not wanting to see Ye Feng, Su Manman turned and walked away, with Lu Yu hurrying after her. “Manman, where are you going? Wait for me.”
Meng Qing and Wang Meili left together as well.
“Zhou Qian! What are you doing? This is obviously a misunderstanding—why didn’t you explain just now?” Ye Feng questioned Zhou Qian loudly, didn’t wait for her explanation, and turned to chase after Su Manman.
Left behind, Zhou Qian looked deeply apologetic.
At that moment, her phone rang. Zhou Qian hurriedly answered, and a cheerful voice came from the other end: “Well done, dutiful daughter. The thirty thousand will be transferred to your account soon.”
Zhou Qian’s phone slipped from her hand, guilt washing over her as a helpless smile touched her lips and a tear rolled from her eye. Thinking of her foster father still lying in the ICU, she wiped her tears and left.
Ye Feng tried to catch up with Su Manman, but was stopped at the door by his mother-in-law, Wang Meili, forced to watch as Su Manman got into Lu Yu’s car and drove away right before his eyes.
Meng Qing left alone by car.
“Darling, since we have time today, why not come to my place for a cup of coffee?” Lu Yu drove, his gaze lingering on Su Manman.
Su Manman gradually calmed down, her tone icy as she replied, “No need. Pull over. I want to get out.”
“This isn’t a place where you can stop, sweetheart,” Lu Yu replied, leering blatantly at her slender, fair legs.
Su Manman grew uneasy, regretting her impulsiveness. All of this was Ye Feng’s fault!
…
Watching her daughter get into Lu Yu’s car, Wang Meili’s excitement was undisguised. She turned to Ye Feng, saying, “See? Only men like Lu Yu are worthy of my daughter, only he can give her a good life. You, you’re nothing but a disgrace to her. If you know what’s good for you, hurry up and leave!”
With that, Wang Meili walked off without looking back.
Ye Feng worried that Su Manman might be in danger—after all, no one knows men better than another man. He’d noticed the greed in Lu Yu’s eyes, so he pulled out his phone and called A.
The call was picked up after only two rings.
“A, locate Manman’s exact whereabouts for me and send it to my phone,” Ye Feng said urgently.
“Understood, King.” A’s skilled computer work quickly pinpointed Su Manman’s location and sent it to Ye Feng.
Receiving the address, Ye Feng hailed a taxi.
“Driver, follow this location.”
“No problem,” the driver replied, glancing at his phone.
“Lu Yu, stop the car right now or I’ll jump out!”
“Haha, would you dare? Don’t bother resisting, Manman. Tonight, you’re destined to be mine!” Lu Yu laughed wildly.
No matter how Su Manman resisted, it was futile. Lu Yu struck her with a hand chop, knocking her out and taking her to his home.
He tied Su Manman to the bed and went into the bathroom for a shower, eager to enjoy the beauty delivered to his door.
Ye Feng arrived at the southern suburb villa, guided by the location.
Meanwhile, Su Manman woke to find herself tightly bound on the bed, her position provoking primal urges. Her regret only deepened.
Lu Yu emerged from the shower, approached the bed, and gazed at the alluring Su Manman. “Beautiful, sorry to keep you waiting. Here I come…” His face was lecherous.
“No, stay away!” Su Manman had lost all her usual composure.
Just then, Ye Feng kicked the door open, spotting Su Manman pinned beneath Lu Yu. Fury surged within him.
“Ye Feng!” Su Manman was overjoyed to see him arrive.
Lu Yu, interrupted, was displeased, barking, “Who gave you permission to break into my house? Get out!”
“What did you say? I didn’t catch that. Say it again!” Ye Feng’s face was dark.
Lu Yu dismissed Ye Feng, convinced by Wang Meili that he was nothing but a useless loser. He raised his voice, “Get out!”
Ye Feng strode over, landed a punch that knocked Lu Yu unconscious, and hurried to untie Su Manman.
Just when she thought she’d be violated, Ye Feng rescued her at the crucial moment. It would be a lie to say she wasn’t moved, though anger still lingered.
“Aren’t you leaving? Planning to spend the night here?” With that, Su Manman quickly left, wanting to escape the frightening place as soon as possible. Ye Feng knew she was still upset, so he decided to wait before explaining.
…
In a cluttered rental apartment, Zhang Chao sat on a messy sofa, gulping beer and muttering, “It’s all Ye Feng’s fault, that useless loser. How could he be the chairman of Evergrand Group? If not for him, I wouldn’t have been fired. Damn you, loser! You cost me my job, and I won’t let you off!”
He squeezed the beer bottle flat and tossed it aside.
The doorbell rang.
Zhang Chao staggered to the door, reeking of alcohol. “Who is it?” Annoyed by the interruption, he snapped, “What’s the hurry, knocking like that? Off to reincarnate?”
He opened the door to find a stunning beauty standing outside: white short T-shirt, ultra-short shorts, long, shapely legs, fair skin, flawless features, curves in all the right places.
Seeing the visitor, Zhang Chao was thrilled—she was even prettier than Su Manman. An opportunity like this was too good to waste. His demeanor shifted instantly.
He straightened his messy hair and smoothed his wrinkled clothes, still reeking of beer, and asked, “Miss, what can I do for you?”
“Are you Zhang Chao?” Her voice was intoxicating, sending shivers down his spine, as if a cat was scratching at his heart.
“I am, I’m Zhang Chao,” he replied, excited that such a beauty had come for him.
“Aren’t you going to invite me in?” She glanced inside.
“Please, come in.” Zhang Chao stepped aside.
Once inside the living room, Zhang Chao noticed clothes, smelly socks, even dirty underwear strewn across the sofa. He hurried to gather them and stuffed them in the washing machine, apologizing awkwardly. The beauty covered her mouth, smiling.
“Miss, may I ask your name?”
“You don’t need to know, because the dead are not worthy of my name.” At that, she produced a blade from nowhere and, with a swift motion, slit his carotid artery, killing him instantly.
Zhang Chao was in disbelief—he thought he’d lucked into a beauty, but instead, his life was ended. He clutched his neck, but it was futile.
The beauty took out her phone and dialed.
Ye Feng’s phone rang—it was B. He answered, and B spoke respectfully, “King, the mission is complete.”
“Well done. But there’s one more. I’ll send it to your phone soon,” Ye Feng replied with a cold smile.
“Oh? Another one.” B’s lips curled into a bloodthirsty grin.
Thinking of Su Manman, still angry, Ye Feng shook his head helplessly and found his old friend Si Xu’s number to call.
After a few rings, a polite voice answered.
“Hello?”
“Brother, it’s Ye Feng!” Ye Feng was thrilled to hear Si Xu’s voice.
When Ye Feng was in the orphanage, Si Xu was his best friend. So many years had passed, he thought they’d never reconnect.
“Ye Feng? Is it… really you?” Si Xu was so surprised he could barely speak.
