Chapter 91
Seeing the tension etched across everyone's faces, and the suffocating atmosphere that weighed on the hall like a heavy shroud, both Mu Sihai and Mu Xue frowned in unison. The technicians before them were all veterans who had followed Mu Sihai since the inception of his business—seasoned figures who had witnessed grand spectacles and weathered billion-dollar deals. Yet none of them had ever displayed expressions as grave as they did today.
“Speak your mind. I, Mu Sihai, am not easily intimidated. I’ve seen my share of the world!” Mu Sihai swept his gaze around the room, his face stern and commanding as he issued his cold directive.
Only then did the general manager in charge of the investigation step forward, his tone grave: “Mr. Mu, according to our findings, this Mr. Chu Tianhe is none other than the master of the Pantheon—one of the world’s seven great halls!”
Thunderstruck!
Mu Sihai froze for a moment, then staggered backwards two or three steps as if struck by lightning, his legs turning to jelly. If not for Mu Xue’s quick reflexes, he would have collapsed onto the floor.
The answer left Mu Sihai utterly bewildered. He knew that a holder of the Supreme Black Card must be a person of extraordinary status, but he had never imagined that Chu Tianhe’s identity would be so astonishing—far beyond anything he had anticipated.
Mu Xue, however, remained composed, her brows knitted tightly. She turned to the general manager and rebuked him sharply: “Nonsense!”
“How could information about the Pantheon be so easily accessible to us? And to claim knowledge of its master—such confidential details?”
“The Pantheon stands at the pinnacle of the world, among the seven great halls globally! Only those whose intellect, power, experience, and cunning are all unparalleled could possibly lead it!”
“Mr. Chu is barely in his twenties, about my age—how could the master of the Pantheon be so young?”
“You must be mistaken!”
Compared to Mu Sihai’s shock, Mu Xue was exceptionally calm. She was nearly certain that the technical department had made a mistake; the Pantheon’s data was far beyond the reach of the South China Mu Estate Group.
“Miss Mu... it’s absolutely true!” At that moment, the general manager’s expression darkened as he spoke. “Since yesterday, when Mr. Mu assigned us this task, we’ve been investigating Mr. Chu’s background.”
“No matter how we searched, we couldn’t find a single clue. His background had been wiped clean, as if he didn’t exist at all!”
“Until just now—about twenty minutes ago—the Pantheon seemed to open a port for us at the South China Mu Estate. A torrent of information flooded in, burning out two of our servers. We had to switch to backups to preserve the data.”
“At first, we couldn’t believe it ourselves—that Mr. Chu could be the master of the Pantheon. But the evidence doesn’t lie. And in this world, is there anyone bold enough to impersonate the master of the Pantheon?”
Mu Xue was stunned by this explanation, completely overwhelmed. Her mind went blank; even she, renowned as a prodigy in the business world for her calculating brilliance, could not readily accept such explosive news. She staggered back two steps and collapsed into a chair.
“Twenty minutes ago... twenty minutes ago...” Mu Xue muttered the time under her breath, a sharp gleam flashing in her eyes. She turned to her father, Mu Sihai, and spoke: “Dad, twenty minutes ago—that was exactly when Chu Tianhe extended an olive branch to our family, wasn’t it?”
“Could it really be such a coincidence?”
Unable to contain herself, Mu Xue cried out in surprise. Instantly, the hall plunged once more into absolute silence, every gaze fixed upon Mu Sihai and Mu Xue.
