Chapter 82
Dismissed?
Chu Tianhe was taken aback for a moment when he heard the news, a hint of displeasure already clouding his face. He asked in a low voice, "Why was she dismissed? For what reason?"
"They didn't specify," the security guard shook his head, then opened the kindergarten gate. Glancing at little Yaoyao in Chu Tianhe's arms, he said, "This child looks very bright. Why would she be dismissed?"
"We've never had such a case at our kindergarten before. I suggest you go to the principal's office and see what the reason is. Perhaps there's been a misunderstanding?"
The security guard was polite as he led Chu Tianhe to the principal's office.
"Hello, I'm Chu Yueyao's parent. I've come to ask why the kindergarten is expelling my daughter," Chu Tianhe said, holding back a surge of anger as he cradled Yaoyao.
"Chu Yueyao?"
The principal, a middle-aged woman with a plump figure and an oily sheen to her face, glanced briefly at Chu Tianhe before carefully flipping through the files. "From Fengshun Neighborhood?"
"Yes!" Chu Tianhe forced down his anger and nodded, trying to remain patient.
"People from Fengshun Neighborhood still want to attend kindergarten?" The principal's lips curled into a contemptuous sneer, her words dripping with scorn as she looked at Chu Tianhe with utter disdain.
"Why can't children from Fengshun Neighborhood attend kindergarten?" Chu Tianhe's brows knitted, his voice rising.
The principal adjusted her glasses and gave a dismissive glance at Yaoyao in Chu Tianhe's arms. "Everyone knows Fengshun Neighborhood is the slum of Jiangzhou City. The people who live there are the dregs of society, the lowest of the low. The children from there aren't fit for school!"
"Our kindergarten doesn't take in this kind of trash. It would damage our reputation, and lower the overall quality of the other children!"
The instant these words left her mouth, Chu Tianhe's anger surged uncontrollably.
If he hadn’t been holding Yaoyao, he might have rushed forward and slapped the principal across the face.
"So, according to you, children from poor families don't deserve to go to school?"
"We paid the full tuition—every penny!"
Even now, Chu Tianhe gritted his teeth, striving to keep his temper in check, hoping to resolve the matter calmly and not leave a bad impression on Yaoyao.
Bang!
Suddenly, the principal slammed her hand on the desk, pointing a finger at Chu Tianhe's nose. "Who knows where you scraped together the money! Who knows if you stole it or robbed someone for it?"
"You might afford this semester's tuition, but can you pay for the next? Let me tell you, the children who go to our kindergarten all come from respectable families. And you, some nobody from Fengshun Neighborhood, want to squeeze your way into our school? Why don't you take a good look at yourself and see what you're worth?"
Spittle flew from her mouth as she berated Chu Tianhe, even landing on Yaoyao's face. Her behavior was that of a vulgar shrew, and Chu Tianhe's brows drew together, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
"Daddy, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I... I... I won't go to kindergarten anymore. Let's go," Yaoyao's choked voice broke the silence, her words trembling with grievance. The sound shattered Chu Tianhe's heart, his fury blazing up exponentially.
"See that? Even the child is more sensible than you. She knows her place!"
"Born low, accept your fate. Why bother with kindergarten? Go play in the mud by the river!"
