A barrage of curses erupted, and those inside the private room instantly tensed up.

“It’s Wu Peng!”

Qin Xiaomeng’s gaze darted towards Chu Tianhe, her eyes filled with anxiety. She knew Wu Peng all too well—he had always been petty and vindictive since their school days. At the charity gala just moments ago, Chu Tianhe had embarrassed Wu Peng, and now he was here for revenge!

“Qin Xiaomeng, you really are shameless. Out of all the men in the world, you fall for your own brother-in-law!”

“So much for the so-called Twin Beauties of Jiangzhou. In my eyes, neither of the Qin sisters is worth a damn!”

“Chu Tianhe, get out here now!”

Wu Peng’s shouting drew nearer, evidently he had already entered the restaurant. Qin Xiaomeng’s face turned crimson with embarrassment, unable to meet Chu Tianhe’s eyes. Her innermost secrets had been exposed by Wu Peng’s taunts, leaving her mortified, wishing the ground would swallow her whole.

Yaoyao grew anxious as well, hurriedly throwing herself into Chu Tianhe’s arms. “Daddy, I’m scared,” she whispered.

“Don’t be afraid, Yaoyao. Daddy’s here. There’s nothing to fear,” Chu Tianhe comforted her, then glanced towards Yue Linglong. A cold gleam flashed in his deep eyes, a murderous intent simmering beneath the surface.

“Make him quiet,” he ordered.

“Yes, sir,” Yue Linglong responded, her own eyes equally cold and ruthless. She turned and strode out of the private room.

Outside, Yue Linglong’s gaze swiftly locked onto Wu Peng. She raised a finger to her lips in a silencing gesture. “My Lord Tian asks you to be quiet.”

Wu Peng’s attention shifted to Yue Linglong. For a moment, he was stunned, then his expression grew greedy.

“My Lord Tian? Are you talking about Chu Tianhe?”

“Damn it, why are the heavens so blind?”

“How is Chu Tianhe so lucky? Why are all the beauties clustered around him?”

Wu Peng cursed, striding quickly towards Yue Linglong. The thugs trailing behind him—borrowed from Brother Eagle and meant to deal with Chu Tianhe—looked at Yue Linglong with the same covetous gaze.

“Master Wu, maybe we should take this woman for ourselves and have some fun back home?”

“Are you out of your damn minds?” Wu Peng barked, straightening his suit. He plastered on a smile and approached Yue Linglong.

“Miss, I’m Wu Peng, heir to the Wu Group of Jiangzhou. May I ask your name?”

“Come closer and I’ll tell you,” she replied.

Her voice was as melodious as a golden oriole, sweet and intoxicating; her lips were as delicate as cherry blossoms, and her smile was alluring, almost supernatural, bewitching all who beheld her. She raised a slender hand and beckoned Wu Peng forward.

“Heh, is this really the modern age? Are beauties still so shy?” Wu Peng chuckled, unwary, stepping right up to her.

“My name is easy to remember. You must remember it well,” Yue Linglong whispered seductively in his ear, stepping softly towards him. Her right hand played coyly along the collar of his shirt, sliding down to rest above his heart.

Then, she leaned in, her lips close to his ear, her smile still enchanting but her tone suddenly icy, chilling to the bone. “I am the King of Hell come to escort you to the afterlife. Do you like it?”

“Wh—” Wu Peng froze, startled, instinctively trying to retreat. But Yue Linglong gave him no chance. Her fingertip pressed against his heart, sending a surge of ancient martial energy straight into his chest, slamming into his heart.

“I… you…”

Wu Peng’s body stiffened; a sharp pain pierced his heart, his breath grew labored, and all his strength seemed to drain away in an instant. He collapsed onto Yue Linglong, lifeless.
