Chapter 35
Wu Group, Office.
The beautiful secretary, Li Ruofei, seemed almost attached to Wu Peng, her alluring figure perched on his lap. With her slender white arms draped gently around his neck, she spoke, “Young Master Wu, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. I’ve been eyeing a new designer handbag lately—could you buy it for me?”
Her voice, both sweet and tingling, caressed Wu Peng’s ear like a songbird’s whisper, her warm breath painting every syllable with seductive intent.
“That depends on how you perform,” Wu Peng replied with a wicked grin, his right hand brazenly gliding up Li Ruofei’s thigh.
“Oh, you’re so naughty! When have I ever failed to please you?” Li Ruofei giggled coquettishly, clearly accustomed to their intimate routine, and planted a soft kiss on Wu Peng’s cheek.
“Young Master, there’s a call from reception. Someone is here to see you.”
Within the Wu Group, everyone knew to steer clear whenever Li Ruofei and Wu Peng were alone together—interruptions were strictly avoided. The staff member didn’t dare enter, but instead called out from outside the door.
“Damn it, who’s the idiot that picked this time to show up?” Li Ruofei complained before Wu Peng could speak, her arms tightening around his neck as she leaned in for another kiss. “Young Master Wu, just ignore them.”
Wu Peng frowned, his irritation plain as he replied to her kisses with a distracted question, “Who is it?”
“It’s a woman named Qin Xiaomeng. She says she’s your classmate.”
—
At the mention of Qin Xiaomeng’s name, Wu Peng’s expression changed instantly. He abruptly pushed Li Ruofei off his lap.
“Have her wait for me in the VIP lounge!”
He stood up at once, striding to the dressing mirror to adjust his tie.
Seeing this, Li Ruofei’s face tightened with jealousy. “Young Master Wu, who is this Qin Xiaomeng?” she demanded.
For over two years, Li Ruofei had been both secretary by day and lover by night, investing all her hopes in becoming the lady of the house, dreaming of marrying into wealth and status. Just as their relationship seemed to be reaching its peak, this Qin Xiaomeng suddenly appeared.
Worse yet, her arrival had instantly cooled Wu Peng’s interest in Li Ruofei, leaving her seething with resentment.
“It’s none of your business. Go do what you’re supposed to. Print out the agenda for tomorrow’s project meeting and put it on my desk,” Wu Peng said coldly, the warmth from moments ago already vanished from his eyes.
“Oh, alright. I’ll get to it right away,” she replied.
—
Wu Peng’s reaction only made Li Ruofei grind her teeth in fury. But faced with his attitude, she had no choice but to swallow her anger. Though she had yet to lay eyes on her, Li Ruofei now harbored a deep hatred for Qin Xiaomeng.
After carefully straightening his suit and tie, Wu Peng turned and made his way to the VIP lounge.
“Wu Peng, it’s been a long time,”
Qin Xiaomeng had been waiting for some time. As Wu Peng entered, she rose quickly with a warm smile and offered her delicate hand in greeting.
“A rare guest indeed, Xiaomeng. It’s been over half a year since graduation, hasn’t it?” Wu Peng clasped her hand, his gaze lingering, reluctant to let go.
“Yes... it’s been just over half a year.”
