Chapter 152
It felt as though these were two entirely different worlds. Outside lay the bright, broad avenue; inside was a fathomless abyss. Fengshun Community resembled a gaping, bloodthirsty maw in the darkness, swallowing up all the impoverished souls in a single gulp.
"Woof! Woof woof... Woof!"
The very instant Chu Tianhe led his daughter out of the gates of Fengshun Community, a sudden burst of barking erupted ahead. A massive, ferocious hound lunged straight toward Yaoyao. Terrified, Yaoyao clutched Chu Tianhe’s arm as tears instantly welled up in her eyes.
"Daddy, I'm scared! I'm so scared!"
In the blink of an eye, Chu Tianhe’s brows furrowed. Without a moment's hesitation, he lashed out with a kick directly at the vicious dog!
*Thud!*
With a muffled crash, the fierce hound was sent flying instantly by Chu Tianhe's kick, slamming heavily onto the ground, utterly motionless!
"Yaoyao, are you alright?"
Qin Xiaomeng snapped back to her senses and quickly knelt down to check on Yaoyao. The little girl had been frightened out of her wits; her small face was deathly pale, and tears streamed endlessly down her cheeks. She threw her arms around Qin Xiaomeng and sobbed, "Aunty, I'm scared!"
"Don't be scared, don't be scared. Aunty is here!"
Qin Xiaomeng quickly pulled Yaoyao into her embrace while casting a sharp gaze forward.
"Who the hell told you to kick my dog?"
A man walked toward Chu Tianhe with a vicious glare and a string of curses—it was the owner of the fierce hound!
"When you walk your dog, how can you not use a leash? And it's a large breed at that! What if it had bitten someone?"
Qin Xiaomeng glared at the man, shouting indignantly, "Can't you see there's a child here?"
"Tsk!" The man glanced contemptuously at the pitch-black Fengshun Community and sneered, "Just a few pieces of human trash living in Fengshun Community. So what if it bit you?"
"The three of your lives combined probably aren't even worth as much as my dog!"
"How can you talk like that?" Seeing how arrogant the man was, Qin Xiaomeng couldn't hold back. She started to step forward to argue while holding Yaoyao, but Chu Tianhe caught her by the arm and pulled her back.
"Xiaomeng, take Yaoyao back inside first."
"Brother-in-law, this guy is... simply infuriating. I..."
"Go back first. I'll handle this." Chu Tianhe's expression darkened as he turned to look at Qin Xiaomeng. The gentle, tender smile he usually wore for her and his daughter had completely vanished.
Seeing this expression on Chu Tianhe's face, Qin Xiaomeng was slightly startled before she quickly said, "Brother-in-law, don't... don't make things too big. Yaoyao isn't really hurt; I'll just go back and comfort her."
"Alright!" Chu Tianhe nodded. He watched as Qin Xiaomeng turned and carried Yaoyao back into Fengshun Community before finally pulling back his gaze.
Meanwhile, the dog walker behind him let out a cry of shock: "Thunder! Thunder! Damn you, you actually kicked my Thunder to death! I am not letting this go!"
After cursing for a moment, the man went to check on his beloved dog, only to find that it had already stopped breathing. Enraged, he turned his fury back onto Chu Tianhe with a torrent of abuse.
"What a coincidence," Chu Tianhe said coldly, "I had no intention of letting this matter go either."
