Lin Dong dealt with the few remaining humans. Within the entire "grave mound," only Jiang Xue was left. She stared blankly at everything unfolding before her—not with fear or panic, but with numbness and a faint trace of relief. Once a dazzling star, now reduced to a prisoner, tormented by others—this immense fall was almost unbearable. She had lost all will to live. Lin Dong read the plea in her eyes clearly—it was a desire for death. Without hesitation, he delivered a final blow, ending her life.

"Another tormented soul redeemed..." Lin Dong muttered to himself.

"I, the Reborn Corpse King, Savior in the Apocalypse."

Having finished, he gathered the bodies and blood, then used his corpse domain ability to pass through the tomb’s walls and step outside.

It was midday; sunlight filtered through the leaves like countless threads, creating a stunning Tyndall effect. Strange bird calls echoed sporadically through the forest, lending an eerie tranquility to the scene.

Lin Dong glanced back. There were probably survivors in the mountain-top villa area, but he had no intention of going there now. There was no need to exterminate them all—that held little significance for him.

With that, his figure vanished in an instant. Using his concealment ability, he retraced his path back to his territory.

About twenty minutes later, Lin Dong emerged from the woods. Xiao Ba and Tank, along with a squad of elite brothers, waited respectfully on the outskirts. They had noticed that the dense climbing ivy had withered not long ago.

"The boss is back. Looks like he took out that little weed," Xiao Ba said.

"Of course. The boss never fails when he strikes," Tank admired.

"Dinner time."

Lin Dong spoke simply and then flicked his hand, tossing out over a dozen corpses.

The undead stared with glowing eyes. Sensing the scent of blood, they became excited and pounced like famished wolves.

"The boss even caught prey!"

"Is this a lucky catch?"

"Awesome~~~"

...

Lin Dong ignored the feasting horde and returned directly home.

After a bath, he sat on the sofa and conjured a seed into his palm. It pulsed with mixed but potent energy.

"How should this be planted?" he pondered.

Obviously, this crystalline seed could not be planted by simply digging a hole and covering it with soil.

Conventional methods wouldn’t work.

Suddenly, Lin Dong recalled that when he was on the mountain, the roots of the climbing ivy all grew inside skulls.

Perhaps... he should plant it the same way.

He rose and looked out at the street. Zombies wandered about, and a peculiar idea formed in his mind.

When attacking other corpse king territories before, he had seen many hybrid monsters—such as the rat-faced humanoid or the eight-legged spider woman.

This proved that zombies had strong compatibility.

Could he create a hybrid monster himself?

The idea was to fuse this mutated plant seed with a zombie.

Without hesitation, Lin Dong used his corpse domain ability to descend to the street below. The zombies bowed their heads upon seeing him.

He scanned the crowd and singled out an elite zombie—a member of the Z-virus-injected elite legion.

"You, come here."

"Hmm?"

The zombie looked up, curious. This was the first time the boss had called him out alone.

Still, he approached respectfully.

Lin Dong chose an elite because the seed’s energy might be too strong for a regular zombie to handle. A normal one might be consumed entirely as nourishment by the seed.

But even with an elite, success was not guaranteed.

If it failed, he would lose a valuable subordinate.

If it succeeded, he would gain a powerful hybrid monster.

Tek Corporation frequently conducted human experiments; this was Lin Dong’s zombie experiment.

He produced the seed and, using his corpse domain ability, placed it into the zombie’s brain.

The zombie stood there stunned, not yet reacting.

"What happened just now?"

"Don’t you feel anything?"

Lin Dong asked curiously.

"No feelings."

The zombie shook his head, but as he did, a cracking sound came from his skull, like roots beginning to sprout.

"Ugh... my brain is so itchy!"

Suddenly, the zombie scratched his head furiously, then dropped to his knees in agony.

Lin Dong frowned.

Was this going to fail?

A roar erupted from the zombie, deafening and wild. As he opened his eyes, his pupils glowed a ghostly green.

Then, with a crisp snap, a green sprout burst from the top of his head.

The zombie’s aura grew significantly stronger, the itching vanished, and he spread his hands wide—his fingers had transformed into twisting vines radiating outward.

Nearby zombies were startled.

What’s with this guy? Growing grass?

The vines retracted, fingers returning to normal. The zombie clenched his fists, a look of surprise on his face.

"Boss, I feel a strange energy inside me. I’m much stronger now."

"Oh..."

Lin Dong nodded but kept his gaze fixed on the tender green sprout atop the zombie’s head.

Clearly, his experiment had succeeded, and he had gained a hybrid subordinate.

Yet... it felt somewhat absurd.

Most hybrids were fearsome or majestic in appearance. This one, however, had a little sprout growing out of its head, making it look a bit comical.

"Well... it’ll do."

If you want to get by in life, you’ve got to carry some green.

Lin Dong accepted this reality.

Still, this zombie’s aura had definitely grown stronger, with unlimited potential. With enough blood and flesh in the future, it could achieve the "Endless Growth" effect of the grassman.

Thus, he became Lin Dong’s fifth elite.

Lin Dong gave him a fitting name—Flowerpot.

...

Night fell.

The sky was overcast, a chill wind blowing. Soon small raindrops began to fall, drumming softly against the window.

Yet the rain could not stem the carnage in the city of the apocalypse. Beneath the pitch-black sky, wild howls of madness echoed intermittently.

Lin Dong stayed safe and comfortable at home.

Sitting on the sofa, he browsed his phone, gathering intelligence. Recently, he had focused on Tek Corporation, intent on obtaining the Q virus.

Upon logging into Tek Corporation’s official website, he found several new announcements.

"Our company has mastered soilless cultivation technology, allowing crops to grow faster in nutrient solutions, helping to alleviate food shortages."

"Great news! Our company is about to dispatch A-level awakened warriors from headquarters to protect survivors."

...

These two announcements seemed mundane—typical self-praise, boasting their strength to bolster credibility.

But Lin Dong pondered.

"A-level awakened warriors... could they have come with the Q virus?"
