Chapter 133: A Dragon Has Its Forbidden Scales
After saying that, I resolutely walked out of the room. I do not know why, but the moment I stepped across that threshold, my entire being felt incomparably light.
"Wu Dao, you stop right there!"
Liu Yi’s angry roar echoed behind me. I turned my head to look at her, and instantly felt as though she had transformed into a completely different person.
Liu Yi wore a sinister expression, her eyes completely bloodshot. She let out a chilling chuckle at me, her tone dripping with venom. The feeling was as if I had used some despicable means to rob her of her virginity.
"Wu Dao, you listen to me carefully! It has always been me, Liu Yi, rejecting others; there has never been any reason for someone else to reject me. You are the first. Remember this, you will pay the price for rejecting me today!"
Was this supposed to be a threat?
My mind became somewhat chaotic again. I had not even done anything to this woman. Why was she suddenly threatening me? Could it be that daughters of wealthy families all possessed such temperaments?
Naturally, I had no intention of paying heed to Liu Yi’s threats. To be honest, after this string of threats, my impression of her had plummeted to rock bottom. I was even immensely grateful that I had not become intimate with such a woman; otherwise, my future life might have been completely ruined by her entanglement.
Just as I was about to leave, Liu Yi’s next sentence startled me. She said, "Wu Dao, your sweetheart is named Bai Rushong, right? A freshman at the Academy of Fine Arts."
A jolt went through my heart. I had no idea how Liu Yi had managed to dig up Bai Rushuang’s information.
Seeing me freeze in place, Liu Yi laughed coldly and said, "Wu Dao, do you really understand Bai Rushuang? Do you believe that I understand her much better than you do?"
"You've been deliberately investigating her?"
A surge of fury instantly rose from the depths of my heart. I abruptly spun around, grabbed Liu Yi by the collar, and pulled her toward me. Mentioning Bai Rushuang seemed to have touched the softest part of my soul. I did not know since when, but she had unexpectedly become my absolute reverse scale.
"Liu Yi, I will warn you only once. If you dare to lay a hand on Bai Rushuang, I will not let you off."
"Are you threatening me?" Liu Yi forcefully brushed my hand away, a trace of disdain surfacing on her face. "Wu Dao, what capability do you have to threaten me?"
"Remember my words," I stared viciously at Liu Yi and said, "A dragon has a reverse scale, touch it and you die!"
Having said that, I showed no inclination to treat a lady with tenderness. I gave Liu Yi a forceful shove and walked away down the corridor without ever looking back.
Liu Yi’s vicious voice echoed from behind: "Wu Dao, what is so great about Bai Rushuang anyway? How is she better than me? Remember this, I will definitely make you regret it."
By this point, the image of Liu Yi in my mind had completely devolved into that of a shrew who only knew how to hurl street curses. I could not be bothered to deal with her.
Naturally, I did not believe Liu Yi possessed the ability to do anything to Bai Rushuang. Although I still had not figured out Bai Rushuang’s true identity to this day, deep in my heart I believed that for someone like Liu Yi to deal with Bai Rushuang was nothing short of an absolute fantasy.
After stepping out of the hotel, I hailed a taxi straight back to the campus. Upon returning to the dorm, Dadi and the others were still studying Japanese adult films on their computers. Seeing me return, their eyes widened in unison, as if they found it utterly incredible that I had come back so early.
Faced with their shocked expressions, I helplessly lit a cigarette and asked, "What is it? What kind of look is that?"
Dadi immediately hit the pause button on the computer, glanced at the time on his phone, and muttered, "What is going on? Not even an hour?"
Then, Dadi asked me, "Daor, what did you do? The girl Liu Yi asked you out, how come you are back already?"
"Is it that strange?"
Too lazy to explain to them, I walked alone out onto the balcony and quietly smoked my cigarette.
Dadi and the others exchanged glances. Then, as if realizing something, Dadi rushed over, locked his arm around my neck, and said, "Daor, you bastard are truly too spineless! What's wrong, did things fall through with this Liu Yi again?"
"Get lost!"
To be honest, my mind was actually in a mess. Seeing that my expression looked somewhat unnatural, Dadi did not continue to pester me. With a look of profound heartbreak, he muttered "What a blockhead," and returned to the dorm to resume studying Japanese adult films with Liu Dong and the others.
"I'd say, instead of having this kind of time, you'd better take out the *Maoshan Secret Records* and study it a bit more. Otherwise, when you actually join the paranormal investigation team, you won't even know how you died!"
By now, Liu Dong and Jiang Chao already knew my identity, so when speaking with Dadi in the dorm, they no longer had so many reservations. Hearing me say this, Dadi let out a chuckle and replied, "Daor, I've already studied the *Maoshan Secret Records* for a whole day today. You know the importance of balancing work and rest, right?"
Too lazy to bicker with him further, I stood alone on the balcony smoking.
Later, after watching adult films with Dadi and the others for a little while, I climbed onto my bed and went to sleep.
For the period that followed, I did not encounter any more bizarre events, and life gradually returned to peace. During this time, I would visit Bai Rushuang’s place almost every two days, under the pretext of checking on the colorful koi fish we had rescued, while my true motive was simply to spend more time with her.
The injuries of that colorful koi fish had mostly healed by now, and the creature seemed to possess true spirituality. Apart from not being able to speak, it could communicate with us entirely through tail-waving and blinking. As time passed, both Bai Rushuang and I grew extremely familiar with it.
Originally, we intended to release the colorful koi fish back into the Yangtze River, but as time went on, both Bai Rushuang and I grew somewhat reluctant to part with it, and the koi itself seemed unwilling to let us release it. Consequently, it remained permanently kept in the large fish tank at Bai Rushuang’s home.
Previously, Liu Yi had claimed she would make me regret it. In reality, she was just talking big. I had no idea what that girl was thinking, but on the third night after that incident, she withdrew from school.
I was extremely shocked by this, and the other students in our class were equally stunned, because no one knew why Liu Yi would suddenly drop out when she was doing fine, and even I could not figure out what kind of situation this was.
Perhaps my words had been a bit harsh that night, but there was no need for this girl to drop out of school entirely because of it. However, whether she dropped out or not was her own business and had nothing to do with me!
Time passed day by day, and I had originally forgotten all about the incident with Liu Yi. But to my surprise, a month later, Liu Yi suddenly gave me a call.
That afternoon, after Dadi and I finished our classes and returned to the dorm, Dadi went up to the rooftop to study the *Maoshan Secret Records*, while Jiang Chao and Liu Dong went out to surf the internet. Only I remained lying on my dorm bed, chatting with Bai Rushuang.
Just as Bai Rushuang and I were chatting spiritedly, my phone suddenly rang. Seeing that the caller ID displayed Liu Yi, my heart skipped a beat.
Initially, I had no intention of answering the call, but after a second thought, I pressed the accept button.
Perhaps because the phone had rung for a long time before being answered, the moment the connection went through, Liu Yi’s somewhat mocking voice came from the other end: "What's wrong, Wu Dao, it took you so long to answer my call. Are you afraid of me?"
I chuckled lightly and said, "Liu Yi, why did you suddenly call me? Why on earth should I be afraid of you?"
"I missed you," Liu Yi replied from the other end of the line. "What's the matter, Wu Dao, you really are heartless. We had that night together after all, and yet when I suddenly dropped out and disappeared for a month, you didn't even bother to give me a single call. I've been waiting for your call all this time, you heartless man, forcing me to take the initiative and call you instead!"
I took a deep breath and replied, "Liu Yi, food can be eaten casually, but words cannot be spoken recklessly. Nothing ever happened between us. As for you dropping out, that's your own affair; I have no need to care about someone who has no connection to me whatsoever."
"Heh!" Liu Yi on the other end of the line suddenly laughed. "Wu Dao, I've never understood, what is so great about Bai Rushuang anyway? Are you really planning to hang yourself from that single tree? How about this, how would you like me to be your mistress? Don't worry, I won't tell Bai Rushuang!"
I flared up instantly and said coldly, "Liu Yi, remember my warning to you. Do not mention Bai Rushuang in front of me. A dragon has a reverse scale, touch it and you die!"
