Chapter 13: Embracing the Law of No Law
The vast majority of men in the world are lustful by nature, and Lin Yu was no exception. However, he despised men who forced themselves on women, regarding such scum as black sheep among men who ruined the overall impression women had of their gender. His own creed was: “A gentleman loves wealth, but acquires it with integrity; a gentleman appreciates beauty, but courts it with propriety.”
So, when he saw two robust, muscular men not seeking healthy outlets for their base desires but instead taking advantage of vulnerable women on the bus, Lin Yu—half gentleman, half rascal—offered his seat to the professional woman and then rose to face the two lechers head-on.
It had to be said: these two possessed a certain intimidating presence. Not only were their muscles threatening to burst through their clothes, but their towering height—well over six feet—was enough to make anyone feel oppressed. The woman who had just escaped their clutches glanced at Lin Yu with anxious eyes, worried that he might suffer revenge at the hands of these brutes. To her, Lin Yu was just an ordinary high school student in uniform; though he looked fit and his gaze was calm, his aura was clearly overshadowed by theirs.
On the other side, Qi Yue had withdrawn her gaze from the window and was scanning the two giants with concern, rapidly thinking of countermeasures. She knew Lin Yu’s kicking skills were impressive, rivaling even some Korean coaches, but his raw strength was not exceptional. The two men in black tank tops clearly spent countless hours bench pressing, their biceps and chests formidable. In the cramped confines of a bus, Lin Yu might be at a disadvantage against such powerful opponents.
What happened next only proved Qi Yue’s concerns. The two musclemen, upset at having their fun interrupted, exchanged a glance and suddenly attacked, each seizing one of Lin Yu’s arms and twisting them behind his back in a painful hold.
With Lin Yu subdued, the darker-skinned of the two snarled viciously, “You little bastard! Ruining our fun? Didn’t you even bother to find out who we are? Forget about school today—you’re coming with us to toughen up a bit!”
Unexpectedly, Lin Yu did not struggle in the slightest, wearing an unconcerned expression. He shot Qi Yue a reassuring look, silently warning her not to act impulsively, then smiled, “Oh? And what, are you two supposed to be some big shots?”
“Big shots? Hardly,” the dark-faced man replied with a menacing grin, tightening his grip on Lin Yu’s shoulder. “But dealing with a punk like you? That’s easy enough.”
“And who exactly are you? Judging by your actions, not much. If you were worth anything, you wouldn’t be groping women on a bus,” Lin Yu scoffed.
Anyone who’s ever been restrained with their arms pinned behind them knows how uncomfortable and difficult it is to break free from. Had they been in an open space, Lin Yu could have easily used a high kick to take them out. But on a crowded bus, his options were severely limited. He continued probing for information while his mind raced for a way to escape. The next stop was First Senior High School of Bin City.
“We’re nothing special—just junior trainers at Inpace Fitness Center. But me, I’m Wang Tie, brother-in-law of Zhan Jie, the owner of Inpace. By your logic, your family can’t be anything important either. So today, you’re definitely getting a beating,” Wang Tie said with a malicious smile, seeing Lin Yu as nothing more than a piece of meat on the chopping block.
His companion sneered, “Iron Bro, I hear Old Nine likes boys. Why not hand this kid over to him later?”
“Great idea! Seven, you really are the most devious,” Wang Tie laughed heartily.
“Of course! This brat doesn’t know his place—he needs to be taught a lesson,” Seven said, his gaze cold and predatory as he looked at Lin Yu.
For the past month, Seven had been riding the bus to work at Inpace with Wang Tie every day, brazenly taking liberties with women without anyone daring to speak up. Today, though, after encountering a refined beauty and just managing to touch her thigh, he’d had his fun interrupted before he could go further. He was both physically and emotionally frustrated.
Soon, the pleasant voice of the bus’s announcement system echoed through the vehicle: “Dear passengers, First Senior High School is approaching. Please hold on and prepare to alight through the rear door.”
At the sound of the announcement, Qi Yue, unable to contain her anger any longer, stood up and shouted at the two musclemen, “Let him go now! Otherwise, not only you, but even Zhan Jie, the owner of Inpace, won’t get away with this!”
“Damn, girl, you’ve got a mouth on you! Is your father the mayor or the city’s richest man? You look like a fox, so you can’t be much good. Has this kid had you already? Get lost, or I’ll drag you to the gym myself,” Wang Tie replied, eyes blazing with wicked intent.
Taking it all in, Lin Yu smiled reassuringly at the furious Qi Yue, “Qi Yue, listen to me. When we reach school, just get off like always. Don’t worry about me.”
Though she was usually willful, Qi Yue rarely contradicted Lin Yu, so she reluctantly agreed.
A few minutes later, the bus pulled up to First Senior High. Many passengers got off, including the professional woman Lin Yu had helped and Qi Yue, whom he’d instructed to leave.
Outside, dressed in her blue school uniform, Qi Yue anxiously watched through the window, deeply worried for Lin Yu’s safety.
Two minutes later, as the bus started moving again, picking up speed toward the next stop, Qi Yue’s eyes filled with tears. She took out her silver Motorola V70 and dialed a number labeled “Qi Dazhu.”
But just then, she saw the bus, now over a hundred meters away, suddenly brake to a stop. Moments later, a familiar figure stepped off calmly.
It was none other than Lin Yu, his face serene.
Seeing him safe, Qi Yue forgot all about her phone call and ran to him, throwing herself into his arms. Her eyes red, she asked, “Honey, how did you get away? I was scared to death!”
“Don’t call me that… Stop it!” Lin Yu rolled his eyes but couldn’t hide a note of pride. “Of course, I dealt with them. Otherwise, how could those two bastards let me off the bus?”
“But how did you beat those musclemen? I thought you didn’t stand a chance in there,” Qi Yue pressed, seeing his smug expression.
Lin Yu smiled slightly and replied softly, “As Bruce Lee once said, ‘Using no way as way, having no limitation as limitation.’”
“Oh, come on, just tell me and stop showing off with fancy sayings!” Qi Yue pinched his waist.
“To put it simply, I destroyed their source of evil,” Lin Yu laughed so hard he nearly doubled over.
“I don’t get it!” Qi Yue shook her head, baffled.
“In even simpler terms, their eggs might have been smashed…” Lin Yu burst out laughing. How he’d subdued the two musclemen was now obvious.
“I still don’t get it!” Qi Yue shook her head again.
“That’s as it should be—innocent girls never understand,” Lin Yu said mischievously, then walked into campus beside her.
