Chapter 122: The Young Man’s Wildness
Following that vicious slap, the entire hall fell into a deathly silence. Even Yang Xiong, who stood nearby, was left dumbstruck; his own daughter had actually been struck by the Municipal Party Secretary!
Everything had happened so suddenly that he was caught completely off guard. Anger was one thing, but the man before him was the Municipal Party Secretary, the top official in Bincheng. He couldn't exactly slap him back, could he?
After being struck, Yang Zhilin did not cover her injured cheek. Instead, she kept her finger pointed at the Secretary, Jia Quan, and said coldly, "You may leave now. I can tell you clearly: you are not welcome here."
"Whether or not I am welcome here is not for you to decide. In Bincheng, no one dares to tell me I am not welcome." Jia Quan sneered, raising his hand as if to strike again.
At that moment, a powerful hand gripped his raised arm, halting the assault. Jia Quan focused his gaze to find Lin Yu standing there, his expression dark and ominous.
"Let go of me!" Jia Quan commanded.
"Fine. I'll let you go," Lin Yu said, releasing the man's arm with a strange, unsettling smile.
The next instant, before anyone could react, Lin Yu raised his own hand and delivered a heavy, resounding slap across Jia Quan’s face.
Already in his fifties with greying hair, Jia Quan was sent reeling by the force of the blow, falling backward onto the dining table behind him in a state of utter humiliation.
A chorus of shattering glass and porcelain erupted as cups and dishes scattered everywhere. Several glasses still filled with Moutai overturned, soaking the deep red tablecloth.
Having made his move, Lin Yu looked coldly at the stunned official. "You may not know this, but I am a man who believes in 'an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.' Zhang Yang knows this better than anyone. You are the Municipal Party Secretary—so what?"
"You..." Jia Quan struggled to his feet, momentarily frozen, unsure of how to respond.
How many years had it been since he was last struck? Nearly forty years, it seemed... and today, he had been slapped by a boy not even twenty years old!
As Lin Yu finished, tears welled up in Yang Zhilin’s eyes. She was deeply moved; seeing someone stand up for her like this brought her immense comfort.
*He actually struck the Municipal Party Secretary for my sake!*
After a brief moment of reflection, Yang Zhilin blossomed into a knowing smile. In that instant, she was breathtakingly beautiful, her radiance undimmed by the five finger marks on her cheek.
Lin Yu, suppressing the murderous rage in his heart, offered a cryptic smile and asked tenderly, "Does it hurt?"
While they ignored everyone else, lost in their own small world, the rest of the hall was left in shock. In the eyes of the guests, Lin Yu had become a hot-blooded, wild youth—a man who feared nothing under heaven.
Lin Tiancheng and Wang Chunhua, the boy's parents, found it difficult to express their emotions at that moment.
Jia Quan, having lost all face, pulled out his phone and dialed a number. Once connected, he roared, "Guards! Take your men and get to the Glorious Hotel hall immediately! If you aren't here in five minutes, you can all pack your bags and go back to your rural hometowns!"
After hanging up, Jia Quan stood silently in the red-carpeted aisle, staring fixedly at Lin Yu, his thoughts unreadable. After a long time, he said coldly, "You have forgotten whose territory this is. You will pay a heavy price."
"I think you're mistaken. This is my hotel, the Glorious Hotel. Now, get out."
After Jia Quan’s remark, Xia Ling, who had been restraining herself, finally erupted. Her face had turned pale with fury; she was truly incensed.
"Are you sure you're talking to me?" Jia Quan glared at the approaching Xia Ling, shouting with hostility. Repeatedly defied, he had cast aside all his usual decorum.
"I said get out. Don't make me say it a third time. Otherwise, you and your son will walk in on your own feet, but you'll be carried out horizontally!" Xia Ling scolded, her voice sharp and piercing.
Yang Zhilin was the most precious person in her world; to see her slapped left Xia Ling wanting to kill. She no longer cared who was a Municipal Party Secretary.
"You... you people... Fine! Everyone involved today, remember this!" Jia Quan flicked his sleeves angrily, signaled to Jia Qing and the two bewildered starlets, and began to stride quickly down the red carpet toward the exit.
"Get out!" Xia Ling squeezed the words through her teeth before they had even taken a few steps.
Motherly love is an inexhaustible force in a woman's heart, one that can sometimes override everything else. Everyone in the hall realized this fully that night.
Of course, they also understood that this matter had blown up completely, escalating to a point beyond control. It was likely to devolve into a life-or-death struggle.
But what surprised them even more was yet to come. Just as Jia Quan, Jia Qing, Lin Yaqing, and Wang Bing were leaving with dejected expressions, Lin Yu flared up again. He gently stroked Yang Zhilin’s cheek, then turned back to glare at the departing group.
With a dramatic flair, he smashed a glass on the floor and roared, "Stop right there! None of the four of you are allowed to leave."
At his shout, the four stopped in their tracks. By now, Secretary Jia Quan was so angry he was speechless. Jia Qing was no better, though he was already secretly plotting his next move.
Lin Yaqing, known by her stage name Qingfeng, glanced back with a faint smile. "Bing Yu and I were only here as guests. Since you are having an unpleasant dispute, this shouldn't have anything to do with us, right?"
"It has everything to do with you! Stand there and be still. I am not letting any of you leave today!" Having vented his rage, Lin Yu had grown calm, his tone now icy and detached.
"We are public figures. If you detain us against our will, you should consider the consequences!" Wang Bing, known as Bing Yu, replied coldly as she took Lin Yaqing’s hand to leave.
At this, the previously calm Lin Yu flew into a rage again, shouting, "Get the hell back here! If anyone takes another step, I’ll break their leg!"
Having witnessed Lin Yu’s ruthlessness firsthand, Jia Quan and the others trembled involuntarily at his roar.
Seeing his father so suppressed by a mere boy, Jia Qing lost control. "Lin Yu, do you know what you're doing? I'm telling you, leave a path for others so we can meet again in the future. Or do you not plan on staying in Bincheng anymore?"
Hearing this, the corners of Lin Yu’s mouth curled upward. He raised his left index finger at Jia Qing and declared with domineering arrogance, "Today, I will make you taste what it means to bear the unbearable weight of existence!"
In the pin-drop silence of the hall, everyone etched that gesture and that wildly arrogant declaration into their minds.
This wild youth was actually bold enough to threaten the Municipal Party Secretary and his son! Was he determined to push the situation to a point of no return?
