Chapter Twenty-Two: Like Father, Like Son!

A group of street-dancing youths rushed forward, trying to help Monkey up, but he seemed to have suddenly become a robot out of power. His arms wouldn’t lift, legs wouldn’t move. He remained in the same standing posture, needing two people to support him just to stay upright.

“Monkey, how do you feel?” asked the substitute gangster, anxious, the one with a ribbonfish tattooed on his arm.

“Tiger Bro, I’m done for. I’m finished. My arm won’t move—my leg won’t move either. It’s over—I’ll never dance street again—” Monkey’s fragile nerves snapped completely under the sudden shock. He cried and wailed, snot and tears streaming, as if he truly had become disabled.

He genuinely believed it. The strange change in his body left him in no doubt.

“Was it you? Was it you playing tricks?” Ma Heng pointed at Qin Luo, furious.

“Don’t throw mud at me. What does this have to do with me? Everyone saw it, they can testify for me. I even thought this was the street dance you wanted me to learn.” Qin Luo replied with innocent eyes, prompting a round of good-natured laughter from the crowd.

To them, these oddly dressed youths were nothing but troublemakers. Watching someone put them in their place was entertaining.

“It must’ve been you. You just slapped Monkey on the shoulder. What did you do? Fix Monkey, or else we won’t be so polite!” Ma Heng threatened, a group of them tightly surrounding Qin Luo, wary of him suddenly escaping.

“And what would you do, exactly?” Qin Luo asked with disdain.

“Ma Heng, why talk so much crap with him? This bastard messed with Monkey, ruined him—let’s ruin him too. An eye for an eye.” The ribbonfish man, eyes bloodshot, spoke murderously.

“I don’t agree,” Qin Luo refused. “Why should I die for a bunch of idiots with mush for brains? If you all died, it’d be doing the world a favor.”

“Fuck you! Brothers, get him!” The ribbonfish man, most hot-tempered, shouted as he threw a punch at Qin Luo’s face.

Qin Luo swiftly pulled Lin Wanxi aside to keep her safe, then stepped in front of her and struck back with lightning speed.

As their fists met, the ribbonfish man’s face twisted instantly in pain.

The others hadn’t had time to rush forward before he knelt to the ground, clutching his right hand and howling, “Ah—so painful! It hurts like hell!”

“Tiger Bro, what happened?”

“Tiger Bro, are you alright?”

“Tiger Bro’s hand is bleeding—his hand is bleeding—quick, get medicine!”

Lin Wanxi looked at Qin Luo with confusion. Qin Luo showed her the plum-blossom needle tucked between his fingers and said, “I forgot to warn them. I had a needle in my hand.”

“Will they be okay?” Lin Wanxi asked. In the blink of an eye, everyone who had a grudge against Qin Luo was either crippled or disabled; she was genuinely worried he’d cause even greater trouble.

“They’ll be fine,” Qin Luo smiled and shook his head. “Just a bit painful.”

Lin Wanxi glanced at the ribbonfish man kneeling and screaming, thinking, it must be more than just a bit painful. Anyone’s full-force punch landing on a thin needle would react just like him.

Thankfully, Qin Luo had shown mercy, leaving only the tip exposed. If he had left more, it could have pierced right through the man’s palm.

Seeing another brother fall, Ma Heng’s rage boiled, unable to vent, and he felt on the verge of losing control.

“Brothers, ruin that Qin bastard!” Ma Heng shouted, charging forward himself.

Qin Luo’s eyes narrowed, three fingers pinched a silver needle, assuming the standard posture
