Fang Tianze made no effort to hide the fact that he was making things up, meeting Tang Yi’s somewhat speechless gaze and saying, “It seems you know nothing about the elven language.”

“I’ve never studied it,” Tang Yi replied.

There was mention in high school textbooks that wild elven girls had their own language, but there was no course for it.

“Of course you wouldn’t learn it in high school. Even in university, only a handful of colleges offer that as a major. And just like how humans have many languages, elves have their internal distinctions as well. The terrestrial dialect isn’t my specialty; my Six-Tailed Fox is actually more adept in the language of land-dwelling elves.”

Fang Tianze merely touched on the topic of elven language and didn’t elaborate much. Tang Yi found himself intrigued, but obviously, there wasn’t enough time to delve deeper.

After more than half an hour, Butterfree and Ralts finally returned from afar, their steps a little unsteady, looking quite exhausted.

Tang Yi didn’t intend to continue the conversation, instead going forward to help steady Ralts, taking out a tissue to gently wipe the beads of sweat from her forehead.

Ralts wasn’t entirely used to such intimate gestures in public, but couldn’t help shooting Tang Yi a couple of sideways glances.

“You must be tired, too,” Fang Tianze said, feeling a little sorry for his Butterfree.

Butterfree truly looked worn out—this teaching method was more taxing than expected. Still, her mental strength was considerable; she shook her head, gently pushing Fang Tianze away, then turned to Tang Yi and Ralts.

“That’s enough for today. Honestly, Ralts surprised me. Her mental strength isn’t lacking. Even without my help, she might have mastered Hypnosis and Teleport on her own in a few months.”

“And now?”

“If you two don’t slack off when you get home, she’ll learn them quickly. Hypnosis and Teleport aren’t particularly difficult skills, but there’s a difference between learning and mastering them. That’s beyond what I can help with,” Butterfree said.

Tang Yi quickly expressed his gratitude.

To have received such help was far beyond his expectations. He even felt a bit uneasy, worried he owed her something—should he offer some money?

But wasn’t that a bit too tacky?

Butterfree seemed to read the uncertainty and discomfort on his face: “I really like Ralts, everything I’ve done is for her. So promise me, you absolutely mustn’t bully her!”

Her expression became serious, clearly not joking.

Tang Yi exhaled, “Alright. Actually, I was thinking about paying some training fee—I know private classes are expensive, but I really can’t afford them.”

As for bullying Ralts? That was laughable—Tang Yi doted on her endlessly.

“No need,” Butterfree refused earnestly. “Ralts told me you’re about to take your college entrance exams. If you truly want to thank me, invite us for a meal once you’re admitted.”

Tang Yi laughed, “Exactly, giving money feels too vulgar, almost an insult to the champion’s title. Fine, after the exams I’ll definitely treat you both.”

Fang Tianze seemed hesitant to speak. He wanted to say, come insult me with money, but thought better of it—especially since Butterfree kept shooting him warning looks to stop him from saying something inappropriate.

Butterfree smiled gently, “Good luck. Oh, and don’t worry about Feebas. We’re not leaving Qingjiang City anytime soon. Whenever I’m free, I’ll come here to keep her company.”

Ralts thought this big sister was so considerate, guessing even her little worries.

With Butterfree around, she was sure Feebas would slowly come out of her shell.

Though it was still early, Tang Yi was already eager to hurry home and start practicing new skills.

According to Butterfree, her hands-on mental guidance had allowed Ralts to gradually grasp how to better control her psychic frequency.

It was much like the method provided by the Dream Eater—building up proficiency in basic ability first, though their approaches differed somewhat.

But Ralts’ training these days hadn’t been in vain. Without her persistent practice of telekinesis, Butterfree’s mental guidance wouldn’t have succeeded so readily today.

It was time to leave.

Ralts and Feebas were saying their farewells. Thanks to Butterfree’s guidance during the meeting, Feebas’s attitude toward Ralts had obviously improved.

Her attitude toward Tang Yi hadn’t changed, but he didn’t mind.

Tang Yi also said goodbye to Fang Tianze. Though the image of the wise and heroic champion had been shattered, he still held great respect for him.

“Oh, right—next time, bring that ancestral poster you mentioned. I’ll sign it for you and your father.”

Earlier, Tang Yi had told him that he and his father were fans, and had an old poster at home. Fang Tianze hadn’t forgotten.

Tang Yi paused, then nodded, “Sure, we do have a poster.”

“Bring it, then.”

Ralts finished saying goodbye to Feebas and happened to overhear the last bit of conversation as she walked over, looking curiously at Tang Yi: “Why bring that Zivqi poster? Wasn’t that something Dad treasured for years?”

Tang Yi’s expression froze instantly; he wanted to stop her, but it was too late.

Fang Tianze’s face was clouded with suspicion, “Zivqi? I remember he was the champion of the world tournament before my year. The poster at your house is of him?”

Tang Yi scratched his head, offering an embarrassed but polite smile, “Ah? The poster is Zivqi’s? I must have remembered wrong—it’s been so many years. Sorry about that! Well, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now. Bye!”

Without waiting for another word from Fang Tianze, he grabbed Ralts’s hand and hurried away from the orphanage.

Fang Tianze was left feeling wounded and depressed for quite a while. Damn it, turns out he wasn’t their idol after all.

He grumbled, “Shouldn’t have taught him!”

Butterfree shot him a glare, “You weren’t the one teaching, anyway—the choice was mine.”

Fang Tianze looked at her with a hint of curiosity. “I was just about to ask—why insist on helping Ralts? That teaching method is exhausting. Honestly, even though I suggested it, I hoped you’d refuse. You’re pushing yourself too hard.”

Butterfree’s gaze at Fang Tianze held an almost imperceptible tenderness, and she sighed softly.

“Because that child is so much like me. Some things are destined to be kept in the heart, never spoken. I can’t do much, but I want to help Ralts as much as I can. I can see it—though she always complains about Tang Yi, she truly wants to help her trainer.”

Fang Tianze’s expression stalled, as if wanting to say something, but couldn’t.
