Chapter 135: Migration
The final stretch of preparation before the competition went fairly smoothly.
After a few days, Lalulas had initially mastered the diffusion and concentration of psychic energy.
She had basically no trouble using the light wall and reflective barrier, though her proficiency was understandably still lacking. Considering the short time frame, mastering two defensive skills was already impressive, and Tang Yi didn’t expect more.
Besides learning new skills, Tang Yi also found time to have Lalulas practice various abilities she had studied before, such as aerial flight, teleportation, and hypnosis, to varying degrees.
The arrival of Zhang Chen, Jiang Hai, and others greatly enhanced the efficiency of these practice sessions. Having sparring partners of similar level to train with made a huge difference.
Naturally, after each session, Zhang Chen and the others didn’t even need Tang Yi’s reminders; they would immediately take a few bottles of nutritional supplements provided by the school. Clearly, no one felt guilty about taking advantage of the school’s provisions.
On Fang Tianze’s side, Tang Yi still visited the “Jianzi Grass” every weekend to perform energy-guided massages. But starting this week, Lalulas began accompanying him.
Ba Dahu told him that Lalulas had initially mastered telepathy and now simply needed constant practice. There was nothing more for him to teach her, so it made sense for the girl to join Tang Yi in his work.
The benefit was that Tang Yi no longer had to endure Ibu’s biased translations. While Lalulas’s telepathy couldn’t handle real-time translation yet, it allowed Tang Yi to instantly understand the Jianzi Grass’s feelings.
For example, if they felt uncomfortable or in pain anywhere, Lalulas would immediately convey those sensations, allowing Tang Yi to adjust his energy guidance accordingly.
This method greatly enhanced the effectiveness of Tang Yi’s massage techniques.
However, there was a slight downside. With Lalulas watching closely, Tang Yi had to maintain a more upright, serious demeanor during massages. Though a beautiful young girl lay completely at his disposal right under his nose, Lalulas’s piercing gaze made it impossible for him to lower his eyes casually.
Ibu would occasionally peek over, chuckle knowingly, and teasingly remark, “Tang, you look very serious today. Lalulas, you don’t know—his expression during previous massages was quite different!”
Lalulas fell for it, curiously asking, “Ibu, what kind of expression did he have before?”
But at times like this, Ba Dahu would appear just in time. This gentle older sister would pull Ibu away with a stern look.
Without Ibu’s mischief, Tang Yi finally had some room to perform. During brief pauses, he would look up at Lalulas with tenderness and say, “I’ll practice my technique thoroughly on these Jianzi Grass so that when I massage you at home, it will feel even better.”
The implication was clear: to him, these Jianzi Grass were nothing more than experimental subjects.
Lalulas scolded him, “Don’t talk nonsense. Focus on guiding energy for these Jianzi Grass properly—be serious!”
But after saying that, her expression softened considerably. Suddenly, she felt that Ibu’s earlier remarks were no problem at all.
The Jianzi Grass resting atop the large rocks occasionally lifted their heads and glanced confusedly between the two. Not understanding Chinese, they were unaware of what had just transpired but sensed that the atmosphere seemed less tense.
More and more Jianzi Grass evolved into Jianzi Flowers, and a small number of Jianzi Flowers further evolved into Jianzi Cotton. Finally, on Tuesday, Fang Tianze messaged Tang Yi to say that after consulting with the clan leader, the decision was made to begin the migration officially the next day.
Though it wasn’t the weekend and time was extremely tight—Tang Yi wished he could divide every minute in two—after chatting briefly with Lalulas, he replied to Fang Tianze: “I will take half a day off tomorrow to come.”
Fang Tianze didn’t ask why and simply sent the time: 6:40 a.m.
The hour was early, so Tang Yi didn’t massage Lalulas that night and went to bed early.
Since it took more than an hour to get there, the next day the two woke up at dawn, foregoing breakfast, and took a taxi.
By the time they arrived at Fang Tianze’s small villa, the group was ready to depart. With a quick wave, Fang Tianze led everyone up the mountain without formal greetings.
The sun had not fully risen, and the mountain path was dim. Ba Dahu walked ahead, gently flapping her white wings, emitting a dazzling light that dispelled the pre-dawn gloom.
This was the Flash Skill, an auxiliary technique that temporarily lowers enemy accuracy in battle but could also be used for illumination in daily life.
Tang Yi and Lalulas had never gotten up this early. They yawned repeatedly but made no complaints.
Their contact time with the Jianzi Grass was actually quite limited—only two days each weekend—but the wild spirits’ innocence and enthusiasm were gradually contagious.
Tang Yi was also grateful to these girls; it was their voluntary efforts that allowed him to accumulate so much experience in energy buildup.
Before parting, Tang Yi and Lalulas felt they must come see them one last time.
While walking, Ba Dahu explained to Tang Yi, “This departure was rather rushed. The wind has been strong the past two days, and it’s overcast—perfect for migration. Starting next week, continuous rain is expected, and that would delay everything, so we decided to set off today.”
Tang Yi nodded in understanding and then asked curiously, “I understand the wind—it helps them fly farther—but why choose an overcast day? Normally, wouldn’t a bright sunny day be better?”
Ba Dahu replied gently, “That’s true from a migration standpoint, but considering other factors, this weather is better for concealment.”
Ibu bluntly rephrased her words, “It’s because of you humans. If they migrated in broad daylight, floating in the sky like easy targets, it would be too easy for someone to ambush them. Plus, this weather keeps your airplanes away.”
*Smack!*
*Ouch!*
The six-tailed fox’s tail drooped again.
Fang Tianze shook his head helplessly and smiled at Tang Yi. “It’s not as bad as Ibu makes it sound. Mainly, setting off on an overcast day avoids a lot of trouble. These wild girls living in the city, especially when migrating in groups, have to file reports and get permits in advance. It’s a waste of time.”
In short, Tang Yi understood.
These wild girls living in the city, though most bore no ill will, were gradually having their living space squeezed.
This was also a key reason why the Jianzi Grass decided to migrate.
