Chapter 114: First Kiss
“No, it’s still a bit far.”
“Still a bit far.”
“Uh, I’m not a tiger, why do you have to stand so far away?”
“Come a little closer.”
...
Tang Yi kept repeating himself, mainly reminding Lalulas to move just a tiny step forward, like a turtle crawling. After several urgings, the distance between the two gradually shortened.
“Is this... okay now?”
Lalulas slightly lifted her head, glancing at the trainer less than a meter away, then suddenly grew flustered, turning her head away and softly humming, “Close your eyes.”
“Oh, alright.”
Tang Yi closed his eyes again. At this distance, there was no longer any worry about breaking anything. Plus, being so close, even if he deliberately lowered the energy when using his skill, he could perceive its effect more clearly.
“I’m about to start.”
“Mm.”
“This time I have a bit more energy, bear with it.”
“It’s fine.”
“Here it comes.”
“Can you hurry up?”
...
After dawdling for a long while without any movement, Tang Yi couldn’t help but urge her. No sooner had he spoken than he felt something rush directly toward him.
Although Lalulas deliberately lowered her energy output, her control over Fairy-type energy was not yet masterful. The sudden, heavy impact made Tang Yi’s body sway.
Despite his preparation and attempt to steady himself, for some reason his legs suddenly went weak, as if his strength had been drained. He staggered uncontrollably forward two steps and fell down.
“Careful!” Tang Yi opened his eyes and shouted in alarm, but all he saw were Lalulas’s wide, unprepared eyes.
The girl stretched out both hands, trying to gather her psychic power to help him maintain balance, but it was too late.
Thud!
Tang Yi inevitably fell, and amid Lalulas’s startled cry, he ended up pinning the petite girl beneath him. Their faces were just centimeters apart, eyes wide as they stared at each other, feeling the warmth of each other’s breath through their nostrils.
“This was an accident,” Tang Yi quickly explained, taking the initiative.
After a brief daze, Lalulas seemed extremely flustered and began struggling desperately. “What are you trying to do? Get up! Get up!”
Her reaction was unexpectedly strong. Her small body writhed continuously, clearly showing genuine panic—more so than when she had caught him sniffing her clothes earlier.
Tang Yi had intended to rest for a moment, but seeing this, he could only comfort her: “Alright, alright, I’ll get up, I’m getting up right now.”
Yet the weakness inside him persisted. The energy-draining kiss had truly taken its toll this time.
Tang Yi barely propped himself up on his arms when Lalulas’s struggling escalated to frantic punching and kicking. After having his strength sapped, Tang Yi was no match for her thrashing.
“Lalulas, don’t move, let me get up first, don’t move, don’t...”
Thud!
His body, still limp, suddenly gave out again as his arms weakened, and he collapsed uncontrollably once more.
This time, the distance was too close; even if Tang Yi wanted to dodge, he couldn’t.
Their lips collided abruptly.
Without any warning or mental preparation, in that instant, both were stunned, their minds blank as they stared dumbfounded at each other.
For a few suspended seconds, neither even thought about what to do next.
Then, with a sudden thud,
Tang Yi’s body traced an arc and landed on the bed. Lalulas’s entire body shimmered with blue psychic energy, her face full of grief and anger. Finally unable to hold back, she unleashed her psychic power.
Tang Yi, lying on the bed, didn’t bother moving. He had no choice but to rest for a moment. Yet the sensation of that brief contact kept replaying in his mind, irresistible.
He wanted to say something, to express himself.
But at that moment, only one feeling filled his mind: Lalulas’s lips were really soft and sweet.
It wasn’t until a stifled sob reached his ears that Tang Yi realized the situation was more serious than he thought. He struggled to lift himself up.
Lalulas was sitting on the floor, hugging her legs, tears swirling in her eyes. She wanted to cry but was desperately suppressing her sobs, not wanting her parents outside the room to hear.
“S-sorry, I was trying to get up, but I really have no strength. You moved around, and I couldn’t hold on—it really was an accident.”
Lalulas’s tears flustered Tang Yi as well. He tried to explain patiently that this was a temporary loss of strength caused by the energy drain kiss and that it really wasn’t his fault.
But no matter how much he spoke kindly, Lalulas’s crying showed no sign of easing.
Tang Yi felt ashamed but also a little puzzled. It was an unintentional lip contact—why such a strong reaction? Could it be that deep down, she was actually very resistant to him?
This made Tang Yi feel both guilty and somewhat hurt.
Suddenly, Lalulas lifted her tear-filled eyes to look at Tang Yi and asked, “What do you usually like to eat?”
“Huh?”
Tang Yi was momentarily caught off guard. What did what he liked to eat have to do with this?
“Quick, tell me!”
Tang Yi answered honestly, “Oh, I like lots of things—chicken, duck, fish, meat. I’m not picky, you know. Usually, I just eat whatever’s made.”
“Oh, then if you end up inside, I’ll just bring you some food when I visit.”
“Wait, what do you mean by that?” Tang Yi was alarmed. “Lalulas, this was just an accident! It’s not that serious. Didn’t you say earlier that boys having some quirks is normal?”
“That’s different! That’s different! I can understand if you have quirks; I don’t blame you. But this—this kind of thing is not allowed. We can’t do that. It’s illegal, and you’d get thrown in jail.”
Tang Yi looked pitiful. “So you want me to get thrown in jail?”
Lalulas looked pained. “I—I don’t want to, but everyone says we should be law-abiding good fairies and bravely expose illegal behavior.”
“Uh, wait a minute—did you look all that up online too?”
Lalulas didn’t deny it. “I think those explanations are pretty right. I really don’t want you to go inside. Otherwise, I’ll just be a bad fairy!”
It seemed she had made a very difficult decision.
Tang Yi exhaled and helped Lalulas up. But as soon as his hands touched her shoulders, the girl shuddered in fright. He had to step back a little and consider carefully.
“Lalulas, did you go crazy Googling again? You can’t believe everything you find online. First, what happened just now was unintentional. Besides, a simple kiss isn’t illegal.”
Lalulas’s eyes widened. “It’s not illegal? But I already checked. Marriage between fairies and humans is against the law. Don’t think I’m a kid you can keep fooling!”
Why was Lalulas looking up such things? Tang Yi’s fleeting doubt passed quickly. Hearing her say this, he relaxed a bit. It seemed Lalulas had misunderstood.
He patiently explained, “It’s true that marriage is illegal, but a kiss doesn’t mean marriage.”
“Then what exactly is marriage?”
“The law mainly prohibits fairies and humans from having certain kinds of relationships.”
“What kind of relationships?”
“Uh...”
Tang Yi was stumped. He suddenly recalled that although he often taught Lalulas about human society’s common knowledge, some fundamental topics hadn’t really been covered.
As for certain videos online, since the last time the antivirus software had cleansed her device, the only survivor was the Waterweed Security software, which effectively blocked anything inappropriate from reaching Lalulas.
Scratching his head awkwardly, Tang Yi could only answer vaguely, “Basically, it’s a more intimate relationship than a kiss. That’s marriage. Just kissing doesn’t count.”
“Is that so?”
“Of course! If you don’t believe me, look it up online right now!”
Tang Yi’s confident tone made Lalulas somewhat convinced, though still hesitant. But then her expression hardened again, and the tears she had barely held back started welling up anew.
Tang Yi was dumbfounded. What now?
Hadn’t he already explained clearly? He hadn’t done anything illegal, Lalulas wasn’t a bad fairy—it was just a beautiful accident. So why was she crying again?
Pouting, Lalulas said with a tone full of grievance, “That was my first kiss.”
“Ah?”
Tang Yi couldn’t quite keep up with her thought process. While pondering the meaning of that sentence, he carefully apologized, “I’m sorry for taking your first kiss.”
“Scumbag!” Lalulas retorted indignantly.
“Hm? Watch your words, Lalulas.”
“That’s what they all say. Those men call themselves charming, but they just like kissing all sorts of women, then refuse to take responsibility. Even though they don’t marry, why kiss others? I hate those kinds of guys—scumbags!”
Recalling scenes she had seen before, Lalulas was full of righteous anger.
In Lalulas’s simple mind, such an intimate act as kissing seemed to imply marriage. But marriage was illegal. In her understanding as a law-abiding good fairy, breaking the law meant going to jail.
It was either be a scumbag or go to jail.
This put Tang Yi in a bind. Couldn’t he have neither?
As he fretted, Tang Yi glanced over.
In Lalulas’s slightly shimmering eyes, there seemed to be a trace of complicated feelings hard to describe.
Suddenly, before Lalulas could speak again, Tang Yi reached out a finger and gently pressed it in the air in front of her lips, his voice low and soft.
“Don’t speak yet. Let me say something first, okay?”
