Chapter 85: One Punch to the Head
After Wang Gang and Lei Kun exchanged blows, the room was left in utter ruin, and the commotion drew a crowd of onlookers.
Yang Fan’s gaze had never left Lei Kun. He could tell at once that the aura radiating from the latter was even stronger than Wang Gang’s.
Under Lei Kun’s assault, Wang Gang was quickly at a disadvantage and found it hard to hold his ground.
From what he observed, Yang Fan could see that Lei Kun was experienced in battle and skilled at taking tricky angles.
Less than three minutes after the two clashed, the outcome was already decided.
A fist slammed into Wang Gang’s chest, sending him flying backward until he crashed into the wall behind him, leaving a dent in the plaster.
At the sight, the innkeeper was surely weeping on the inside.
“Again!” Wang Gang glared at Lei Kun, his eyes full of defiance.
“You are no match for him,” Yang Fan said, stopping Wang Gang from going back up just to be beaten again.
Wang Gang could only withdraw resentfully.
His chest ached with a fierce pain; that punch had left him badly shaken.
Since beginning his cultivation, this was the first time he had been beaten so embarrassingly.
“Who are you?” Yang Fan asked, staring at Lei Kun.
Lei Kun’s eyes fell on Yang Fan, and a trace of wariness flashed in them. Instinct told him the man before him was no ordinary person.
“Who I am is not important. The important question is, who are you?” Lei Kun said darkly, fixing Yang Fan with an icy stare.
Faced with that cold, hostile gaze, Yang Fan remained calm.
“I am the Yang Fan you came looking for,” he said.
He had already vaguely guessed that the other man was from the Green Society.
After all, the Yang family had only just left this place.
“Then die!” Lei Kun roared at Yang Fan, his aura surging as he prepared to strike and kill.
“Not a good place to do that here,” Yang Fan said lightly. “This is a society ruled by law now. Do you mean to kill someone in public?”
At those words, Lei Kun hurriedly stopped.
Yang Fan was right. In a lawful society, if he dared to murder someone so openly, the police would surely take notice.
Besides, he, Lei Kun, was a member of the Green Society. If the matter caused too much of a stir and reached the upper echelons of the Azure Empire, then the empire’s experts would come hunting him down.
“Let’s find another place,” Yang Fan said.
“Fine,” Lei Kun agreed without objection.
In any case, Yang Fan was right in front of him; he was certain the man could not vanish from his sight.
The innkeeper came over and, seeing the room in such a state of ruin, turned grim.
Lei Kun did not waste words and immediately paid compensation.
With the damages settled, the owner felt somewhat better.
In the end, Yang Fan led Wang Gang and Lei Kun to a deserted place.
Wang Gang stood aside, knowing there was no way for him to intervene.
In his heart, Lei Kun was already sentenced to death.
Wang Gang had absolute confidence in his master’s strength.
From the exchange he had just seen with Lei Kun, he had already gauged the other man’s level. Winning against Yang Fan would be harder than reaching the heavens.
Yang Fan and Lei Kun stood facing each other, eyes locked.
“Make your move,” Yang Fan said, his expression calm and effortless, his eyes carrying a faint indifference.
He could not even work up interest in Lei Kun. Since the man had come looking to die, he did not mind sending him on his way.
“I’ll let you die understanding why,” Lei Kun said, staring at Yang Fan. “Zhou Hu was my junior brother, so I’m here to avenge him today.”
“Words are pointless. You’re dead either way,” Yang Fan said coolly.
“Arrogant!” Lei Kun raged at being looked down upon.
As the chief disciple of the Green Society’s leader, his strength placed him among the upper ranks of the organization. Yet this little punk dared to belittle him.
How could he endure that?
With a furious bellow, he charged at Yang Fan, bringing with him a burst of fierce wind.
A sharp, murderous aura erupted from him, giving off an oppressive and chilling sensation.
Had a common person faced Lei Kun, they would surely have been shaken by that aura.
Unfortunately for Lei Kun, the one before him was Yang Fan.
Yang Fan simply stood there, waiting for Lei Kun to arrive, his expression unchanged in the slightest.
Seeing how brazen Yang Fan was, Lei Kun grew even angrier.
Like a raging bull, he thundered forward, his momentum fierce; his fist rubbed against the air and let out a booming roar.
Lei Kun was certain that if this punch landed, it would smash Yang Fan’s head open like a blossoming flower.
Yet Yang Fan watched the fist come without the slightest change in expression.
When the fist was but an inch from him, he moved.
Lei Kun only saw a blur before Yang Fan vanished from sight, and his heart lurched in shock.
Just as he turned to look for Yang Fan, a dangerous sensation descended upon him.
A dull, heavy burst echoed out.
Lei Kun’s head was smashed apart by Yang Fan’s punch, and a spray of blood burst into the air.
Wang Gang stared blankly at the scene before him, stunned beyond words.
“One punch and he’s dead. Too fast,” Wang Gang cried inwardly, scarcely able to believe his own eyes.
He had not seen how Yang Fan had evaded Lei Kun’s attack.
By the time he could make out Yang Fan’s figure clearly, Lei Kun’s head had already been blown apart, leaving no doubt he was dead.
Not a single drop of blood had stained Yang Fan.
Without so much as glancing at Lei Kun’s corpse, Yang Fan walked over to the dazed Wang Gang. “What are you standing there for? Let’s go.”
“Ah—oh.” Wang Gang quickly snapped out of it and hurried after Yang Fan.
Looking at Yang Fan’s back, Wang Gang’s eyes were filled with reverence and fervor.
Too strong. He had no idea what level Yang Fan’s strength had reached.
After all, Wang Gang had been able to fight Lei Kun to a near draw.
Yet Lei Kun’s ending had left him utterly astonished.
The phone rang. Yang Fan looked down and saw that it was Yu Qian calling, so he answered.
“What is it?” Yang Fan asked.
“If you want her to be fine, bring the spirit stones and exchange them for the person. Otherwise, I’ll violate her first and kill her after,” came a cold voice from the other end.
Yang Fan’s brow furrowed.
It seemed Yu Qian had been abducted and was being used to threaten him.
The other side even knew he had spirit stones, which made Yang Fan somewhat puzzled.
He had gone down alone to dig out the spirit stones; no one else knew about it.
In other words, the other party had known from the beginning that spirit stones were buried at the construction site.
“Where?” Yang Fan asked, his voice turning cold.
“On the outskirts of River City, at the abandoned coal yard. I’ll give you one hour,” the man said, then hung up.
Seeing Yang Fan’s expression darken, Wang Gang guessed something had happened and asked, “Master, what’s wrong?”
“Something happened to Yu Qian. We need to go save her,” Yang Fan said calmly.
Upon hearing this, Wang Gang was confused.
Hadn’t Yang Fan already dealt with everyone threatening Yu Qian?
He asked no further questions and left with Yang Fan, then took a taxi to their destination.
If saving someone meant handing over the spirit stones, Wang Gang would certainly not have agreed.
To him, Yu Qian was not worth exchanging for spirit stones.
The reason he went was that more than a billion in shares were still tied up in the Yuanfu Catering Group.
If something happened to Yu Qian, Yang Fan’s shares could very likely go up in smoke.
After all, he still needed money to buy medicinal herbs and refine pills to aid his cultivation.
Following the location given by the other side, Yang Fan brought Wang Gang to an abandoned coal yard on the outskirts of River City.
As they went deeper into the yard, Yang Fan could sense quite a few people lurking all around.
But he paid them no mind, because none of them posed any threat to him.
A man appeared in Yang Fan’s line of sight.
Yang Fan stopped and met the man’s eyes.
“Where is she?” Yang Fan asked.
“Where are the goods?” the man asked in return, not answering.
“If I don’t see her, why would I take the things out?” Yang Fan said with a cold smile.
The man clapped his hands, and Yu Qian was brought out.
Seeing Yang Fan appear, Yu Qian let out a breath of relief and felt hope return.
