“You all can come at me together,” Yang Fan said to Chen Dong and the other two.

Without any hesitation, the three men moved at once, attacking from three directions. Confident in their skills, they believed that as long as they got close, they would be able to bring Yang Fan down.

Yet, as they closed in, Yang Fan did not retreat. Instead, he stepped forward, twisting his body to easily evade Chen Dong’s fist as it whistled past. With a swift chop of his hand, he struck one of the guards at the waist, the force strong enough to send the man staggering backwards before he finally collapsed.

The third attacker lunged forward with open arms, attempting to grapple Yang Fan. In response, Yang Fan’s knee shot up, slamming into the man’s abdomen. With a groan of pain, the man was knocked to the ground, clutching his stomach, unable to get up, sweat beading on his face.

Seeing Yang Fan dispatch two men with such ease shocked Chen Dong. He rushed in, his fist slicing through the air. Yang Fan’s hand darted out, transforming into a claw that locked around Chen Dong’s fist. With a sudden push, he sent Chen Dong sprawling to the ground. Chen Dong’s wrist throbbed with pain, the skin reddened. When Yang Fan had grabbed his fist, it felt as though it were caught in an iron vice—utterly inescapable.

Zhao Yi, watching nearby, was astonished that none of the three could even touch Yang Fan. “Impressive skills, young man. You’ve passed. You can officially start work today,” Zhao Yi said with satisfaction, nodding at Yang Fan.

“Thank you, Director Zhao,” Yang Fan replied gratefully.

Zhao Yi waved him off and asked Chen Dong to register Yang Fan’s information. Once registration was complete, Chen Dong led Yang Fan to the security dormitory.

“Yang Jian, I don’t know who taught you those moves, but you’ll have to teach me sometime. I’d like to learn a trick or two,” Chen Dong said, genuine admiration in his voice.

He realized that Yang Fan was far from simple. During their exchange, he was certain Yang Fan hadn’t even used his full strength.

Yang Fan chuckled. “Sure, when there’s time, I’ll show you a few moves.”

“Haha, now that’s the spirit! If you ever need anything, just ask. I won’t say no,” Chen Dong replied with a hearty laugh, finding Yang Fan increasingly likable.

After bringing Yang Fan to the dormitory and explaining the house rules, Chen Dong left. The accommodations at the elite high school were quite decent; each security guard had a private room.

Yang Fan took special note that his room was close to the teachers’ dormitory. According to what he’d learned, the spirit stone had been unearthed during the construction of the teachers’ dormitory. That meant the stone was likely beneath the building’s foundation.

“If I want to sense the spirit stone, I’ll have to dig a tunnel down there,” Yang Fan mused, stroking his chin as he began to consider his next move.

Now that he’d infiltrated the elite high school, the next step was to find the spirit stone. To do that, he’d need to dig a deep pit. However, he worried about undermining the foundation of the teachers’ dormitory, so he needed to prepare. The deeper he dug, the more challenges he would face—water might seep in from below, which was another problem to solve.

“I’ll have to set up a formation first,” Yang Fan decided, and promptly called Huang Ma, asking him to use his influence to gather the materials needed for the array. These were all single-use items, not particularly hard to find, but it would take some time.

So for now, Yang Fan settled into life at the elite high school, waiting for the materials to be gathered before making his move. Since it was his first day, Chen Dong told him to get acquainted with the environment and didn’t assign him to work. Yang Fan used his free time to buy some daily necessities.

The next day, he was assigned to stand guard at the school gate. Dressed in the security uniform, Yang Fan looked energetic and alert. Being the youngest and by far the most handsome among the security staff, he drew the attention of many female students.

When classes ended that morning, the students streamed out of the gate to head home.

“Hey, when did we get a new security guard? He’s pretty good-looking!”

“You little flirt, are you in heat? Drooling over a handsome guy already?”

“Hehe, but you have to admit, he looks much better than the other security uncles.”

Many students couldn’t help but steal glances at Yang Fan as he stood watch at the gate, and a few girls whispered among themselves.

Yang Fan felt a bit awkward. If he’d known this would happen, he would have disguised himself to look plainer. Standing there, he felt like a monkey on display.

“Look at you! All the schoolgirls are swooning over you—makes me jealous!” Chen Dong came over, feigning bitterness. “Us old guys don’t even catch their eye.”

Yang Fan could only smile wryly and shake his head. “Dong, stop teasing me.”

Chen Dong snickered and walked off to sit nearby.

“Zhou Yang, I’ll say it one more time: stop bothering me. I don’t have time for you.”

A sharp female voice drew Yang Fan’s attention. He recognized it immediately. Looking over, he saw Lu Yuxi glaring impatiently at Zhou Yang, while Zhou Yang followed her relentlessly.

“Yuxi, my feelings for you are sincere. Can’t you give me a chance?” Zhou Yang pleaded, his expression earnest.

Ever since learning that Lu Yuxi and Yang Fan had divorced, Zhou Yang had stepped up his pursuit. He was determined to win her over.

“Get lost!”

Lu Yuxi couldn’t take it anymore and shouted at Zhou Yang before storming off, leaving him staring after her, furious and embarrassed. In her heart, there was only one person—Yang Fan. Even though she couldn’t find him now, she wasn’t ready to give up. She firmly believed she’d find him someday.

“Lu Yuxi, can’t you get over that loser?” Zhou Yang called after her loudly. He’d looked into the history between Lu Yuxi and Yang Fan and knew they had divorced. He thought this was his chance.

Lu Yuxi stopped and shot him a frosty look. “No one can ever take his place in my heart. You’re not even worthy of comparison.” With that, she walked away without looking back.

Zhou Yang stood frozen, his face twisted in anger.

“Tsk tsk, Zhou Yang sure is persistent, chasing after Lu Yuxi like that. Shame she has absolutely no interest in him.”

“That’s what you call unrequited love.”

“To be honest, Zhou Yang’s family is rich, but our campus queen isn’t swayed at all.”

“Haha, who said it’s easy to win the heart of our school’s most beautiful girl?”

Whispers rippled through the crowd as students gossiped about Zhou Yang and Lu Yuxi—their story was no secret at the elite high school.

Witnessing this, Yang Fan felt puzzled. Why did Lu Yuxi still have feelings for him? Weren’t they already divorced? He remembered how she had slapped him and declared she never wanted to see him again. It made no sense that she’d say something like that now. Perhaps she was just trying to brush Zhou Yang off?

That seemed plausible to Yang Fan. In any case, they were divorced, and he had no intention of interfering in her life. Now, with his changed appearance, no one here would recognize him as Yang Fan.
