Chapter 148: Danger Approaching
“Could it be that they’ve kidnapped Tang Xin?” Liujingjing’s expression grew anxious as three vans blocked their path.
Given recent threats against Tang Xin, any such situation was immediately assumed to be an attempt on her life.
“What should we do?” Tang Xin’s face paled, fear creeping into her heart.
“Don’t worry,” Yang Fan replied calmly. “Nothing will happen.”
Hearing Yang Fan’s assurance, the two women felt somewhat relieved, though the sudden appearance of these vehicles left them uncertain of the intruders’ intentions.
Over sixty rough-looking men poured out of the three vans, each wielding iron pipes and machetes—clearly a gang of thugs.
“Get out of the car, or I’ll smash it!” a bald youth strode up to the vehicle, kicked it sharply, and barked loudly.
Surrounded by over sixty hostile men, all sporting fierce and threatening demeanors, it was clear none were to be taken lightly.
“You two stay in the car and don’t come out,” Yang Fan instructed the women before calmly opening the door and stepping out.
His gaze swept over the crowd, his expression serene and fearless.
To him, these were just ordinary people posing no real threat.
“So you’re Yang Fan, huh?” the bald youth swaggered up, machete in hand, eyes brimming with arrogance.
Yang Fan furrowed his brows and fixed him with a steady stare. “Who sent you?”
The youth’s familiarity with his name confirmed Yang Fan’s suspicion: they were acting on someone’s orders, and he was the target.
Having made some enemies in Kyoto, mostly a few students from Mingzhu High School, Yang Fan already had a sense of who might be behind this.
“Screw who sent me, who the hell do you think you are?” the bald youth spat furiously, clearly itching for a fight.
They’d been paid to cause trouble, and he was determined not to target the wrong person.
“Seems like you’re all just pawns,” Yang Fan said coolly, his tone devoid of emotion.
“Damn it, you’re testing my patience!” the bald youth cursed, swinging his leg at Yang Fan.
With a swift sidestep, Yang Fan dodged and unleashed a powerful downward strike with his hand.
A sharp crack echoed.
“Ah!” The bald youth screamed in agony, collapsing to the ground clutching his leg, which was clearly broken.
Everyone was stunned by the sudden ferocity of Yang Fan’s attack.
“Stop hesitating! Kill him!” the bald youth roared to his gang.
Swearing to eliminate Yang Fan, over sixty men charged forward, brandishing weapons with murderous intent.
Unfazed by the overwhelming numbers, Yang Fan’s aura surged, radiating a fierce energy that sent chills down spines.
The first thug to charge was kicked flying, dropping his iron pipe.
Yang Fan grabbed the pipe without looking and swung it behind him, striking down an attacker attempting a sneak attack.
The man’s leg shattered under the blow, eliciting a pained scream.
Others swarmed, attempting to overwhelm him with sheer numbers.
Bodies moved with lightning speed, iron pipes cutting through the air and slamming into flesh, sending men flying.
Screams filled the air as one by one, the sixty-plus assailants were knocked down, writhing in pain.
Within less than a minute, all were incapacitated.
The gang’s eyes now reflected fear—they had been bested by one man.
The bald youth’s face drained of color, regret flooding his mind for underestimating Yang Fan.
Yang Fan approached him, who instinctively retreated.
“Brother, I was blind not to recognize your greatness. Please have mercy this once—I swear I won’t cause you trouble again,” the youth begged desperately.
He promised himself never to provoke such a formidable adversary again.
Yang Fan’s cold, killing gaze unnerved him deeply.
“Tell me, who sent you here?” Yang Fan demanded, towering over him with icy eyes.
“I don’t know. It was my boss who ordered us to come bother you. That’s all I know,” the youth confessed, unwilling to risk lying.
Yang Fan pressed, “Who’s your boss?”
“The Four Harmonies Society, Zhou Hao,” he answered quickly.
“Tell your boss to watch his neck. One day, I’ll chop off his head,” Yang Fan said coldly before dismissing him.
The bald youth didn’t dare linger and hurriedly fled with his comrades.
Four Harmonies Society, Zhou Hao—that name was noted. Yang Fan vowed to deal with him when the time was right.
Since they dared to provoke him, they would pay the price.
If it weren’t broad daylight and people all around, Yang Fan wouldn’t have held back—he’d have sent them all to the underworld.
But lacking the strength to openly defy the world’s order, he had to exercise restraint.
Back in the car, Liujingjing looked at him curiously. “Yang Fan, who exactly wants to harm you?”
“The boss of the Four Harmonies Society,” he replied calmly.
“I’ve heard of them—a notorious gang in Kyoto. They’re all thugs,” Liujingjing said seriously. “Yang Fan, you have to be careful. They won’t give up easily.”
“If they aren’t afraid to die, I can send them on their way,” Yang Fan said, his voice dripping with murderous intent. He didn’t regard these gangsters as anything but pests, ready to erase the Four Harmonies Society from existence when the opportunity arose.
“You’re so cool, Yang Fan. With you around, I feel much safer,” Liujingjing said happily, clutching his arm.
Tang Xin rolled her eyes at Liujingjing’s infatuated expression.
After this brief ordeal, Tang Xin started driving home.
When they reached a relatively isolated area, Yang Fan noticed a car tailing them closely.
“Someone’s following us. Step on it,” Yang Fan warned.
“Who is it?” Tang Xin glanced in the rearview mirror and saw the car pursuing them.
“The target is likely you,” Yang Fan said grimly.
Upon hearing this, Tang Xin pressed harder on the accelerator, instantly increasing their speed.
The car behind surged forward in pursuit.
“What now?” Tang Xin’s fear deepened as the car steadily closed in.
She was no professional driver and dared not drive recklessly.
“Let me drive,” Yang Fan said.
