Chapter 129: A Reward That Tempts Yang Fan
“A five-hundred-year-old blood ginseng.”
Liu Xuanhe’s voice came through the phone. The blood ginseng was the condition.
“Are you certain it’s a five-hundred-year-old blood ginseng?” Yang Fan asked calmly, suppressing the excitement rising within him.
He was astonished that the other party was willing to offer a five-hundred-year-old blood ginseng. The temptation was immense.
In all the time he had spent in this world, he had never even seen a spiritual herb older than five hundred years.
A five-hundred-year-old blood ginseng would contain an extraordinarily rich concentration of spiritual energy. Unlike ordinary ginseng, blood ginseng was especially dense with spiritual power.
“My friend promised that if Mr. Yang agrees to become his daughter’s bodyguard, he will give you the blood ginseng as compensation,” Liu Xuanhe said firmly. “My friend only received this blood ginseng recently and has not yet had the chance to sell it.”
“I know that you opened a pharmacy and are purchasing precious medicinal herbs in large quantities, so I thought this five-hundred-year-old blood ginseng would certainly interest you.”
Liu Xuanhe dared to say this because he was confident in his judgment.
He was well-traveled and understood the value of rare medicinal herbs. A five-hundred-year-old blood ginseng was undoubtedly a spiritual herb rarely seen on the market.
By introducing Yang Fan to this opportunity, he could both do his friend a favor and gain Yang Fan’s friendship—a benefit on both sides.
He knew that Yang Fan was no ordinary man. He was an innate expert with enormous potential.
Being hailed as the foremost young martial artist of Yanhuang alone was enough to inspire awe.
“How long would the assignment last?” Yang Fan asked.
He was unwilling to serve as the man’s bodyguard indefinitely.
“I’m not sure myself, but my friend said that once he discovers who is secretly targeting his daughter, your mission will be complete,” Liu Xuanhe replied.
Yang Fan’s brows drew together. Clearly, he was dissatisfied with the answer.
“I’ll give him two months,” Yang Fan said after a moment’s thought, stating the limit he was willing to accept.
Hearing this, Liu Xuanhe felt a headache coming on.
Still, he called his friend to ask. In the end, the other party replied that he could accept Yang Fan’s condition.
Since the offer had been accepted, Liu Xuanhe gave Yang Fan his friend’s contact information and address.
After obtaining them, Yang Fan packed two changes of clothes and set off for Kyoto.
Liu Xuanhe’s friend was the owner of Kyoto’s largest pharmaceutical group. His surname was Tang.
Kyoto was a first-tier metropolis of Yanhuang, as well as its economic and cultural center. Land there was worth its weight in gold.
The owner of Kyoto’s largest pharmaceutical group was certainly a man of immense wealth.
After getting off the plane, Yang Fan followed the address he had been given and took a bus there.
Once aboard, he found a seat and sat down.
After several stops, more and more passengers boarded, and the seats quickly filled.
“Move away from me!”
A girl’s angry voice rang out.
Yang Fan looked over and saw a young woman speaking to a blond-haired youth standing beside her.
She appeared to be around eighteen. Her delicate, exquisite face and snow-white skin were like jade, while her shy, alluring beauty carried the charm of a mature woman.
She wore a white short-sleeved T-shirt that clung tightly to her upper body, emphasizing her well-developed figure. Her light-blue jeans hugged her slender, shapely legs, while the curve of her hips was especially striking.
She was a stunning beauty.
Any man who saw her for the first time would likely think the same.
“Beautiful, it’s not that I want to stand so close to you,” the blond youth said, looking aggrieved. “The bus is too cramped, and there aren’t any seats, so I can only stand here. Besides, this isn’t your home. I like standing here, and you have no right to interfere.”
None of the other passengers paid much attention. The bus was so crowded that accidental contact was inevitable.
Hearing this, Lin Susu realized she could not win the argument, so she fell silent and put as much distance between herself and the blond youth as possible.
The blond youth stared at the ceiling and ignored her completely.
The bus continued through one stop after another. More passengers boarded, and the interior grew increasingly cramped.
“Shameless!”
A furious curse rang out, followed by the sharp sound of someone being slapped.
Everyone turned to look. Lin Susu was glaring angrily at the blond youth, her face flushed with rage.
Just moments earlier, someone had groped her. When she turned around, she had caught the blond youth’s lecherous hand in the act.
In her fury, Lin Susu had slapped him.
“You filthy bitch! What the hell is wrong with you?” the blond youth shouted at her.
“You pervert! You touched my backside—do you think I didn’t notice?” Lin Susu demanded angrily.
When the passengers heard that the blond youth had sexually harassed her, they cast disgusted looks at him. Several began cursing him for being shameless and sick.
“Fuck all of you! Shut your mouths, or I’ll make you bleed!”
A burly middle-aged man stepped forward and roared at the passengers viciously.
He stood nearly six feet tall, with a powerful build and muscles bulging across his body. He looked as though he possessed explosive strength.
With his ferocious expression, he resembled a ruthless criminal.
“You bunch of idiots! You don’t even know what happened, yet you keep running your mouths. Think I won’t beat the shit out of you?” the blond youth shouted at several outspoken passengers.
With such a formidable companion beside him, he was even more arrogant and treated the passengers with complete contempt.
Seeing the two men’s savage expressions, the passengers fell silent.
No one wanted trouble. Their own safety mattered more.
As for stepping forward to play the hero, no one was willing to do so—unless they were confident they could handle both the blond youth and the burly middle-aged man.
The two men clearly looked like people no one should provoke.
If they pulled knives, anyone who meddled would be the one to suffer.
Seeing the situation, Lin Susu began to feel frightened.
“Filthy bitch, don’t think you can falsely accuse me just because you’re somewhat pretty,” the blond youth snarled as he approached her. “You said I touched your backside, didn’t you? Then today I’ll touch it properly and see for myself how it feels.”
When she saw his lecherous hand reaching toward her, Lin Susu was terrified, but she still summoned her courage.
“Get away from me!”
She shoved him away.
“Oh? You’ve got some spirit,” the blond youth sneered. “Go ahead and struggle all you want in front of me.”
He shot a meaningful glance at the middle-aged man beside him.
The man understood at once. He strode forward and seized both of Lin Susu’s arms.
“Help! Somebody help me! He’s assaulting me!”
Unable to break free from the middle-aged man’s grip, Lin Susu could only cry out at the top of her lungs.
But none of the passengers had any intention of playing the hero. They chose silence instead.
No one wanted to invite trouble.
“Anyone who meddles is going to bleed!” the blond youth shouted, brandishing a sharp dagger and pointing it at the passengers.
When they saw the knife in his hand, everyone turned away, afraid to look.
Despair filled Lin Susu’s heart.
Was she really going to be defiled by this thug?
