Chapter 110: Yu Qian’s Decision
In the room, Yang Fan sat cross-legged on the bed, cultivating. A sharp aura radiated from him.
He had now reached the late Qi Refining stage.
His ability to break through to the late stage in such a short time was mainly thanks to the Chen family.
When he had asked the Chen family to collect medicinal herbs, Yang Fan had deliberately included several precious herbs in the list, hoping they might be able to find them.
He had not expected the Chen family to give him such a pleasant surprise.
With the aid of those herbs, Yang Fan had been able to cultivate his strength to the late Qi Refining stage.
Knock, knock, knock.
At that moment, someone knocked on the door.
Yang Fan opened his eyes and asked, “What is it?”
He knew Yu Qian was outside.
“I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have something to say. Open the door. There’s something I need to ask you,” Yu Qian said, clearly displeased.
Earlier that day, she had been reading the newspaper when she came across an article about Yang Fan.
The article mentioned that Yang Fan was already married, and that his wife was an eighteen-year-old high school student.
When Yu Qian first saw the report, her immediate reaction was that it could not possibly be true.
To confirm it, she had returned to question him directly.
“What is it?” Yang Fan opened the door and asked in confusion.
Yu Qian curled her lips and handed him the newspaper. “See for yourself. Your wife is searching for you everywhere.”
Confused, Yang Fan took the newspaper and glanced at it.
After reading the report carefully, he understood what was going on.
It turned out that Lu Yuxi was looking for him and hoped he would return so the two of them could start over.
“I can’t believe you’re already married—and to a high school student, no less.” Yu Qian stared at Yang Fan unhappily, her voice tinged with jealousy.
She felt terribly uncomfortable because she had developed feelings for the man standing before her.
She knew that she had already fallen for Yang Fan; she simply had not revealed it completely yet.
Now that she had seen the article, she felt deeply conflicted.
The man she liked was actually a married man.
“That’s all in the past. We’re already divorced and have nothing to do with each other.” Yang Fan returned the newspaper to Yu Qian and spoke indifferently.
Lu Yuxi wanted Yang Fan to go back, but he had no desire to remain involved with her.
He felt that their divorce had been for the best. At least he no longer had to worry about her affairs.
Yang Fan had devoted his entire heart to cultivation, hoping to return to the Divine Realm as soon as possible and avenge his junior sister.
“You’re already divorced?” Yu Qian asked in astonishment. “You didn’t abandon her, did you?”
She felt that Yang Fan must have been the one to leave her.
In Yu Qian’s eyes, Yang Fan was an excellent man. Any woman who failed to appreciate him would simply be foolish.
At least, that was the impression Yang Fan had given her. He appeared cold on the surface, but he was warm at heart.
He was so capable, so handsome, and even an excellent cook. Surely any woman would be attracted to him.
That was exactly what Yu Qian thought.
“We divorced amicably. There was no conflict between us,” Yang Fan said irritably.
Although he did not know why Lu Yuxi wanted him to return, they were already divorced. There was no reason for them to have any further contact.
“Then why is she looking for you?” Yu Qian asked, puzzled.
“How should I know?” Yang Fan replied indifferently.
“Aren’t you going to look for her? Perhaps she has something important to tell you?” Yu Qian suggested after thinking it over.
Since Lu Yuxi had gone so far as to place an advertisement in the newspaper to find him, she must have had something important to say.
“I have nothing to do with her anymore. What could she possibly want?” Yang Fan waved his hand at Yu Qian. “Stop gossiping. I want to rest.”
Yu Qian was dissatisfied with his answer. “Did you ruin her life and then abandon her?”
Yang Fan was utterly speechless.
“Could you stop making wild assumptions?” he said to Yu Qian. “That’s a matter between her and me. Why are you asking so many questions?”
“Of course I have to find out, because I…” Yu Qian stopped halfway through her sentence.
“Because of what?” Yang Fan stared at her.
“Nothing.” Yu Qian stamped her foot, lowered her head, and turned to leave.
Watching her inexplicable behavior, Yang Fan felt genuinely frustrated.
Yu Qian returned to her room and lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
She had nearly confessed her feelings for Yang Fan just now.
She had asked so many questions because she wanted to know whether Yang Fan had done something cruel to Lu Yuxi.
If Yang Fan had truly abandoned his wife, Yu Qian would have to reassess him.
But she could not bring herself to ask directly.
“Looks like I’ll have to find an opportunity to investigate,” Yu Qian decided inwardly.
If she wanted to know what had happened between Yang Fan and Lu Yuxi, she would have to find out for herself.
Asking Yang Fan was pointless. Yu Qian was certain he would never tell her.
If she wanted to entrust her lifelong happiness to a man, she had to understand what kind of person he truly was.
If he was the sort of man who abandoned his wife and child, Yu Qian would never fall for him.
Meanwhile, after Lu Yuxi had asked Tian Xinxin to place the newspaper advertisement, she waited at home for Yang Fan’s call.
Her heart was filled with unease. She did not know whether Yang Fan would actually call her.
In another room, a middle-aged man was reporting to an elderly man.
“Master, we’ve found Yang Fan’s weakness. He still has a wife in Jiang City.” The middle-aged man relayed the information he had gathered.
The old man was named Zhou Lizhong, the master of the Seven Fiends Sect.
Ever since Yang Fan had killed one of the Seven Fiends Sect’s elders and two of its disciples, Zhou Lizhong had ordered his men to investigate him.
They had learned that Yang Fan possessed cultivation at least at the mid-Innate stage.
Even the master of the Seven Fiends Sect did not dare act rashly against a mid-Innate expert.
After all, he had no certainty of victory.
Li Changgong, an elder of the Seven Fiends Sect, had been an Innate expert. He had once been ordered to kill Yang Fan, only to be killed himself.
For that reason, Zhou Lizhong concluded that Yang Fan’s strength was at least at the mid-Innate stage. He therefore did not dare attack him recklessly.
Now that he had learned Yang Fan still had a wife, Zhou Lizhong felt that his opportunity had finally arrived.
“Is the information reliable? What if we capture her and he doesn’t come? Then all our efforts will have been wasted,” Zhou Lizhong said grimly.
“Rest assured, Master. According to the information our people obtained, he has not divorced her,” the middle-aged man replied with certainty.
“Good. Send people to Jiang City and bring her here. Remember, do not hurt her unnecessarily,” Zhou Lizhong ordered.
“Yes, Master.” The middle-aged man accepted the order and left the room.
Zhou Lizhong wore an expectant expression. “I hope the spirit stones are still with him. Whether I can break through to the late Innate stage will depend on those spirit stones.”
Zhou Lizhong had ordered Lu Yuxi’s capture in order to threaten Yang Fan.
When he first learned that Yang Fan had obtained the spirit stones, Zhou Lizhong had felt as though his heart were bleeding.
He had expended enormous manpower and resources interfering in the construction site belonging to the Yuan Manor Catering Group, primarily to excavate those spirit stones.
Just as success had been within reach, Yang Fan had suddenly appeared.
In order to deal with Yang Fan, the Seven Fiends Sect had lost one elder and two outstanding disciples. The losses had been enormous.
The death of an Innate expert affected the very foundation of the Seven Fiends Sect.
In his pursuit of a breakthrough, Zhou Lizhong was willing to risk everything. Even provoking a mid-Innate expert was acceptable to him.
He himself had reached the mid-Innate stage, and with the many experts of the Seven Fiends Sect supporting him, the sect’s overall strength was considerable.
Therefore, he believed that by joining forces, the experts of the Seven Fiends Sect could deal with Yang Fan, who was also at the mid-Innate stage.
