Chapter 101: Innate Honor Must Not Be Defiled
"Sister, hurry up and capture him! I want him to suffer a fate worse than death!"
Seeing his sister arrive, Chen Yang felt a glimmer of hope and immediately urged her to intervene. He knew his sister was a martial artist with formidable skills. He believed that if Chen Hui stepped in, Yang Fan would be no match for her.
However, instead of attacking Yang Fan, Chen Hui turned around and slapped Chen Yang across the face.
*Smack!*
Chen Yang’s cheek was struck again, and the force was far from light. The surrounding guests were stunned. What was happening? Wasn't Chen Hui Chen Yang's sister? Why would she strike her own brother?
Chen Yang was also bewildered, staring at his sister in utter disbelief. That his own flesh and blood would not only fail to help him but instead slap him was something he couldn't bring himself to accept.
"I am your own brother! Are you actually siding with an outsider?" Chen Yang roared in fury at Chen Hui.
Chen Hui ignored his anger and apologized to Yang Fan: "Mr. Yang, my brother is ignorant. I hope you will be the bigger person and spare him this once."
Her grandfather had already told her that Yang Fan was a Xiantian-level expert of immense strength who must never be offended, or the Chen family would face catastrophe. As a martial artist herself, Chen Hui understood the terrifying nature of a Xiantian expert. Such figures were not to be trifled with anywhere in the entire Yanhuang region.
"Hiss... it seems that kid isn't just some pretty boy; he's a big shot. I wonder what his identity is?"
"To make the Chen family bow and apologize, his status must be something the Chen family can't afford to provoke. He’s likely someone from the central government."
"Looks like Chen Yang has finally hit a wall this time. He’s just unlucky."
The guests were shocked to see Chen Hui acting so respectfully toward Yang Fan. The Chen family, the local overlords of Jiangcheng, showed such deference to a young man—it was clear that Yang Fan’s background was extraordinary. Everyone realized that Chen Yang had no choice but to accept his misfortune.
Nearby, Yu Qian stared blankly at Yang Fan, her eyes filled with intense curiosity. "Who exactly is he?" She desperately wanted to know his true identity. Recalling how Yang Fan had single-handedly resolved the crisis facing the Yuanfu Catering Group, and now seeing the Chen family treating him with such reverence, she felt as if she were living in a dream. She found it hard to process.
Yang Fan glanced coldly at Chen Yang and said, "I do not leave those who wish for my death in this world."
Hearing this, Chen Hui’s expression changed, and she pleaded urgently: "Mr. Yang, Chen Yang didn't know your identity and offended you out of ignorance. Please, spare him just this once."
As she spoke, Chen Hui frantically signaled for her brother to come over and apologize. But how could Chen Yang bring himself to do that? As a young master of the Chen family, he had always held a position of high status and had never suffered a loss; he was used to others apologizing to him, not the other way around.
"Sister, have you lost your mind? You want me to apologize to him? Impossible!" Chen Yang roared, his eyes full of resentment. While it was clear Yang Fan’s background was significant, Chen Yang remained unafraid. He didn't believe Yang Fan would dare to kill him, nor did he believe the Chen family would stand by and watch him be murdered.
"You scoundrel!" Chen Hui, frustrated by his lack of judgment, slapped him again—this time with even greater force. She was terrified that Yang Fan would take action; if he did, Chen Yang’s fate would be miserable indeed.
"Then go to hell." Yang Fan had no patience left. His aura erupted, and a terrifying pressure swept across the room. In an instant, the entire hall was engulfed in a sharp, suffocating presence. Everyone felt a chill run down their spines, sensing the ice-cold murderous intent.
Chen Hui’s face turned pale, and she stepped in front of her brother.
"Move," Yang Fan commanded coldly.
Chen Hui stubbornly stood her ground. How could she watch her brother be killed? Chen Yang, meanwhile, had turned deathly pale, his eyes wide with fear. The terrifying aura radiating from Yang Fan made him feel the shadow of death.
"Mr. Yang, could you give this old man some face and spare his life?"
At that moment, the elder of the Chen family walked over, his expression bitter.
"Grandfather, save me! I don't want to die!" Chen Yang cried out upon seeing him. He was truly terrified now. If even his grandfather had to be respectful toward this man, what standing did he have to confront Yang Fan?
"You unfilial grandson, come here and apologize to Mr. Yang immediately!" the elder roared.
Chen Yang didn't dare to disobey. He crawled to Yang Fan’s feet and kowtowed, begging for mercy: "Mr. Yang, I know I was wrong! I was blind and deserve to die, but please, I beg you, don't kill me!"
Chen Yang pleaded grovelingly, but Yang Fan’s face remained expressionless. There was no pity in his eyes, only cold indifference.
"I can spare your life, but one leg must be broken," Yang Fan said coldly.
Upon hearing this, Chen Yang collapsed to the floor in terror. He looked toward his grandfather with pleading eyes. Chen Hui also gazed at the elder, hoping he would intercede.
"Guards, break one of Chen Yang’s legs!" the elder commanded loudly. He didn't hesitate to order his own men to act.
"Grandfather, no!" Chen Yang shrieked, scrambling to escape, but the security guards quickly restrained him. Under the eyes of the crowd, one of Chen Yang’s legs was snapped. A blood-curdling scream echoed through the hall, making everyone’s skin crawl.
Without even glancing at Chen Yang, Yang Fan began to walk toward the exit. Yu Qian hurried to follow him. Seeing Yang Fan approach, the guests quickly cleared a path. Under their awe-struck gazes, Yang Fan left with Yu Qian.
Glancing at his grandson wailing on the floor, the elder snorted: "Hmph. You’ve always been arrogant and dismissive of others; consider this a lesson."
"Father, please, stop scolding Xiaoyang. Send him to the hospital, or he’ll be crippled for life!" Chen Tianren said, his heart aching. As a father, seeing his son’s leg snapped was unbearable.
"Guards, take him to the hospital," the elder ordered coldly. Chen Tianren hurriedly gathered his men and personally rushed his son to the hospital.
"Grandfather, are we really going to be afraid of a Xiantian expert?" Chen Hui asked, unwilling to accept the situation. As a member of the Chen family, she knew their power, and the fear they showed felt humiliating.
"Xiaohui, you have no idea how terrifying a Xiantian expert is," the elder said with a look of reverence. "You must understand: a Xiantian is not to be insulted. And Yang Fan’s strength is not that of an ordinary Xiantian—he is likely at the peak stage."
"Peak stage Xiantian?" Chen Hui gasped.
The elder sighed helplessly and shook his head: "That Xiaoyang managed to keep his life is already fortunate. Remember, never insult a Xiantian." He understood the power of a late-stage Xiantian warrior—someone who was already touching the threshold of the next realm.
