Chapter Twenty-Nine: Devouring

In the dense forest, Diyalan carried Mu Yudie on her back, moving alongside Shi Yan.

Shi Yan's expression was serious as he calmly observed their surroundings. Whenever he spotted traces of demonic beasts nearby, he warned Diyalan in advance, prompting her to alter their path to avoid any confrontation.

Time passed quietly, and gradually, daylight gave way to deep night. A bright moon hung high in the sky.

The once silent forest was now filled with unsettling roars. Monsters that preferred nocturnal activity awakened from their daytime slumber and began hunting for prey among the trees.

At night, Shi Yan's vision was impaired, making it difficult to discern which areas were safe and which were prowled by beasts.

Some monsters hunted silently in the darkness, so regions filled with howls were undoubtedly dangerous—but even silent places could hide greater peril.

After three hours of running, both Diyalan and Shi Yan were exhausted.

Earlier, they had fought together to kill Tu Mu, but both had paid dearly. Diyalan's essence was depleted from battling Tu Mu's ferocity; she had not rested, carrying Mu Yudie as she ran, her energy continuously drained.

Diyalan was utterly exhausted, relying solely on her tenacity to keep going.

Shi Yan was faring no better. His shoulder had been pierced—though bandaged and aided by the Undying Martial Soul, the wound would not heal quickly.

After using the Rampage technique, he suffered weakness throughout his body. Additionally, the energy he absorbed from Jin Mo and Tu Mu was still being digested, causing waves of bloodthirst and madness. Despite this, he forced himself to remain vigilant, tracking signs of monsters.

He was struggling even more than Diyalan.

"Let's find a place to rest," Mu Yudie whispered gently. Hearing Diyalan's increasingly heavy footsteps and sluggish movements, she realized Diyalan was reaching her limit.

"Alright," Shi Yan replied calmly, taking a deep breath. "I'll find us a good spot to settle."

With that, he climbed a tall ancient tree like an ape, searching for a thickly-leaved hiding place.

Standing atop the old tree, Shi Yan surveyed the area. Suddenly, he let out a quiet grunt, swinging through the branches toward a dead, dried-out tree.

Its roots were thick and branches brittle, devoid of moisture, dead for many years.

Swinging onto a dry branch, Shi Yan examined it closely, then exclaimed with delight, "This tree is hollow! We can go down from the top. The space near the roots is big enough for all three of us to sit. It's perfect. You two rest here, and I'll come up soon."

The upper part was narrow, the roots sturdy, and the hollow trunk could easily accommodate a person. The tree stood ten meters tall; Shi Yan and Diyalan could descend with ease, and, with a rope, Mu Yudie would have no trouble either.

Diyalan, hearing of such a convenient shelter, urged, "Let's hurry inside. The beasts are everywhere—if we're spotted, we'll be in serious trouble."

"Alright, hand me the rope. I'll bring Miss Mu up first."

...

Two minutes later.

Shi Yan, Diyalan, and Mu Yudie sat together in the hollow root section of the ancient tree.

Starlight filtered through the opening above. Outside, distant beastly roars echoed, chilling the heart.

None of them spoke.

Mu Yudie and Diyalan were filled with overwhelming grief.

Along their journey, they had depended on Luo Hao and the others, surviving countless dangers. Now, only the two women remained, uncertain if they could escape the pursuit.

Companions had fallen one by one, and the hunters never relented. Perhaps tomorrow the forces of Dark Nether and Fang would catch up, perhaps tomorrow they would suffer humiliation...

The sense of hopelessness left Mu Yudie and Diyalan unable to see any light, haunted day and night.

Shi Yan was somewhat better. His time with Luo Hao and the others had been brief, and he hadn’t developed deep bonds. Their deaths saddened him, but he kept his composure.

Still, Luo Hao’s death left him regretful. Luo Hao had treated him well—training him nightly with the gravity field, which required considerable effort. Shi Yan acknowledged this favor.

Especially after learning Luo Hao's death involved the Mo family, Shi Yan felt some responsibility.

He silently memorized the three major factions—Dark Nether, Fang, and the mercenaries—determined to exact bloody revenge someday.

Yet, when he glanced at Diyalan and Mu Yudie, he frowned slightly. Both women looked lifeless, despair written across their faces, their fighting spirit extinguished.

He knew the deaths of Luo Hao and the others had hit them hard. But with the Alliance still some distance away, if they lost their will to fight now, survival would be impossible.

After a moment’s thought, Shi Yan decided he needed to act. Watching the two women, he gradually formed a plan...

The hollow tree root allowed all three to sit cross-legged, but their legs were so close that only narrow gaps separated them—close enough to feel each other's warmth.

Initially, Shi Yan kept his legs together, maintaining a clear boundary with the women.

Suddenly.

Shi Yan subtly shifted, spreading his legs so that his left pressed against Diyalan's right, and his right against Mu Yudie's left. He could distinctly feel the contrast: one leg firm and athletic, the other soft and plump—each sensation fascinating.

His movements seemed unintentional, but the women reacted.

Diyalan looked up, glaring at him, but said nothing.

Mu Yudie, however, was clearly embarrassed, her cheeks flushed. She shyly tried to move her leg away from Shi Yan’s, but each time she did, Shi Yan brazenly reclaimed the space, pressing against her again.

After three attempts, Mu Yudie was infuriated, realizing Shi Yan was deliberately taking advantage, but helpless to do anything about it. Her face burned with shame as she silently cursed him.

Yet, Shi Yan's antics distracted her from her grief. She became preoccupied with her indignation, temporarily forgetting the tragic fate of Luo Hao and the others.

Diyalan's bright eyes took in Shi Yan's actions, seeming to understand his intent. She did not intervene, merely casting a curious glance at Mu Yudie, as if to say Mu Yudie was overreacting.

Under Diyalan's gaze, Mu Yudie grew even more embarrassed, her face redder, lips pursed in silent anger as she shot Shi Yan a fierce look.

Shi Yan closed his eyes, as if all his movements were unconscious, breathing steadily as though already asleep.

"Fake! Keep pretending! Once I recover, I'll make you pay!" Mu Yudie quietly gritted her teeth, feeling the heat from Shi Yan's leg until even her neck flushed, inwardly grumbling.

Shi Yan, of course, was not asleep.

Eyes closed, he savored the distinct sensations of the two women's legs, comparing them in his mind.

Diyalan's leg was strong and toned; Mu Yudie's was plump and resilient. Both had their own allure, and after a while, Shi Yan found them equally enchanting.

As he continued, his desires began to stir, the most primal urges awakened.

Within his meridians, threads of negative energy quietly leaked out, amplifying his lust...

His breathing grew more rapid. He felt no bloodthirst or madness—only an intense desire for possession, growing stronger the more he tried to suppress it.

Shi Yan gradually lost control...

Mu Yudie suddenly realized something was wrong, whispering, "Sister Lan, he's acting strange—like before..."

Shi Yan's breath was heavy, sweat beading on his forehead, his body trembling as he struggled to restrain himself. With their legs pressed together, Diyalan and Mu Yudie noticed the change.

After observing him for a moment, Diyalan blushed and whispered, "It's not quite the same as before. Then, he wanted to kill... now, he..."

"What is it?" Mu Yudie asked, puzzled.

"Now, he wants to devour..." Diyalan replied, embarrassed, her voice trailing off.

"Devour?" Mu Yudie’s face changed, alarmed. "That’s even worse! Is he going to become like those monsters? Sister Lan, will he eat us? What should we do?"

She clearly missed Diyalan's true meaning.

"Silly girl, what are you thinking?" Diyalan retorted, awkwardly. "He’s... in heat."

Mu Yudie paused, then suddenly understood. Her cheeks reddened even more, stammering, "Sister Lan, I’ll play the zither, maybe it will soothe him. Do you... want to go outside? I... I should go out too..."

"Alright, I’ll take you out." Diyalan nodded, her bright eyes flickering, preparing to leap up.

Just then!

Shi Yan’s eyes snapped open, bloodshot and wild. Like a beast, he seized Diyalan.

The tree hollow was cramped, and with Diyalan pinned against the trunk, she couldn’t escape.

"Bastard! Let go!" Diyalan cried out. "Girl, help me pull him off! Hurry!"

Mu Yudie, panicked, reached to pull Shi Yan away, but he stood unmoving as a mountain, no matter how she tugged.

Exhausted from the day and her essence depleted, Diyalan could not break free from Shi Yan’s powerful embrace.

A ripping sound echoed harshly in the quiet hollow.

Diyalan felt a sudden chill at her hips, realizing her leather skirt was gone. Before she could react, a large hand slipped under her, kneading forcefully.

"Bastard!" Diyalan hissed, urging Mu Yudie, "Quick! Stop him, he’s lost his mind!"

"I can’t hold him back!" Mu Yudie protested, pounding Shi Yan’s back in terror.

A moan escaped as Diyalan’s legs weakened, her resistance faltering.

Mu Yudie stared, cheeks burning, whispering, "Sister Lan, you’re... calling out..."

"I’m not! Hurry, do something—oh..." Diyalan’s protests weakened, her voice growing strange.

"Sister Lan, it’s... too late," Mu Yudie stammered, eyes wide with fear.

"Too... late?" Diyalan was stunned.

The next moment, she felt something hard pressed against her, her body shivering as she realized her resistance had failed.

A strange sensation spread through her, drowning her reason...

Ah, so be it. Who knows if I’ll survive tomorrow; let him have his way...

Each powerful thrust shattered her defenses, both physical and mental. Diyalan pressed her hand tightly over her mouth, moaning softly under the assault.

Mu Yudie watched, panic written across her pretty face, stunned by the heated scene before her.

In front of her, Shi Yan was vigorously violating Diyalan. Diyalan, unable to resist, gradually surrendered, even arching her body to meet his movements.

"You... you two..."

Mu Yudie’s face was so red it seemed blood might seep through. She watched as the pair moved together in the cramped space, the fiery scene shaking her to her core.

Mu Yudie was frozen, unsure what to do.
