Chapter 119: Wang Defa—Guaranteed That Even Their Own Parents Wouldn’t Recognize Which One Is Their Child Upon Arrival
Several men slid forward, their eyes cold as they scanned the group of sisters-in-law, who shrank back nervously, afraid to make a sound. Once assured there was no danger, Zhou Sinian reached out and pulled Ming Dai from behind the crowd. He examined her from every angle, turning her over and over, nearly making her dizzy. When he confirmed she was unharmed, he let out a sigh of relief.
Frowning, he glanced at the group opposite them. The fat man had already gone back and was now grinning maliciously as he complained to his companions. Soon, their group skated over on the ice.
Zhou Sinian’s face darkened. The wooden stick he held snapped sharply in his grip, startling the sisters-in-law so much they didn’t dare run. Ming Dai, watching his tense demeanor, felt worried and tugged at his sleeve. “Zhou Sinian, I’m fine. Don’t lose your temper!”
He furrowed his brow deeply and looked down at her, meeting her anxious gaze. In a quiet voice, he asked, “Ming Dai, did they hit you? Are you hurt?”
She shook her head. “No, the sisters-in-law stopped them. They didn’t hit me, and I’m not hurt. Don’t worry.”
Zhou Sinian said nothing, his eyes growing darker with ink-like intensity.
Before long, the group from the opposite side skated closer.
The snarling fat man pointed at them, yelling, “They’re the ones who did it! A bunch of b*tches gone wild!”
The leader, a pockmarked man, squinted and sneered, “You lot from Liujiawan are bold, huh? Dare to hit my brother Wang Defa? Who did it? Get out here!”
The voice came before the men themselves.
Wang Defa? What the hell?
What a name!
As Ming Dai silently cursed inwardly, Zhou Sinian suddenly moved. A gust of wind swept past her, making her close her eyes against the sting. When she opened them again, a heart-wrenching scream echoed.
“Ahhh!”
The fat man who had come looking for trouble was now flying through the air, crashing hard onto the ice and sliding over ten meters. Wang Defa and his men stood dumbfounded, staring at Zhou Sinian’s kicking stance.
What the hell!
Where did this woman come from?
So tall!
So strong!
When Zhou Sinian finally retracted his leg and slowly turned his head, the men opposite retreated in fear. Wang Defa, standing in front, went weak-kneed and collapsed to his knees.
“Crazy man?!”
Damn!
He’s crazy!
Wang Defa’s body instinctively recalled the brutal beating he had suffered before. He struggled to stand, but his legs were weak and he slipped several times on the ice without rising.
Frustrated, he spun around and cursed, “Get the hell up and help me!”
The others were terrified, all having been beaten by this madman before. Seeing his murderous glare, they took a moment to react.
After being snapped at, they hurried over and struggled to help Wang Defa up.
But Zhou Sinian gave them no chance to escape. He stepped forward like an arrow, punching Wang Defa sharply on the chin.
A howl followed as Wang Defa collapsed onto his companions behind him, blood pouring from his mouth and two teeth falling out.
Holding the teeth in his hand, he lost all reason in rage.
“Ahhh! Damn it! You crazy bastard, kill him for me!”
Pain made Wang Defa forget fear; he went wild, his mouth bleeding profusely as he cursed Zhou Sinian with slurred words.
His men hesitated behind him, unwilling to step forward. Wang Defa threatened that if they didn’t join him, they’d be out of the gang.
Their fathers were all under Director Wang’s faction. Since their own dads worked under his command, they dared not disobey and reluctantly stepped forward.
Zhou Sinian’s anger flared. He took the initiative, meeting them head-on, punching each one with equal force and sending them flying.
Seeing they were outmatched, the group tried to flee, but Zhou Sinian gave them no chance. Those who ran were kicked back, fists like sandbags pounding them until they cried out for mercy.
The fight quickly drew the attention of others on the ice.
Liujiawan was famous for protecting their own. When a fight broke out on their ice, naturally people came to watch.
As they approached, they saw the brawler was a madman.
“Oh, never mind then. Carry on with what you were doing.”
Some curious onlookers stayed behind, laughing and watching as the madman punched the local troublemakers into the snow.
Ming Dai grew anxious, looking at Zhou Sinian surrounded by seven or eight men.
She wasn’t worried he would get hurt, but feared he might kill someone, leaving them with no way to resolve it.
Nearby, Sister Huang was no longer afraid. She smiled along with the other sisters-in-law, even pulling out a handful of peanuts and offering a few to Ming Dai.
Ming Dai took the peanuts, watching the sisters-in-law enjoy the spectacle with some helplessness. “Sister, should we call the captain over?”
Without turning her head, Sister Huang replied, “Someone already went. It’s nothing much. Zhou Zhiqing’s beaten them before, he knows how to handle this.”
Ming Dai looked confused. “What?”
Finally turning, Sister Huang pointed at the most battered figure on the ground, Wang Defa. “See that guy missing teeth? That’s Wang Youcai’s son, Wang Defa, the commune director’s boy. The worst scoundrel. He led the militia to catch Zhou Zhiqing before, and even hurt him badly at the granary.
If Zhou Zhiqing didn’t have principles against killing, he’d have been beaten to death long ago.
But Zhou Zhiqing didn’t let it slide. After being sent back, he went to the commune to beat him every few days. Each time, Wang Defa cried like a baby. Even when the director came, it didn’t help—they all joined in the beating.
Hiding’s useless—Zhou Zhiqing is uncanny. No matter where he hides, he finds him and beats him harder.
Eventually, the commune director sent Wang Defa to the county, and Zhou Zhiqing stopped going to the commune. Then you all arrived.
Recently, it seems Zhou Zhiqing stopped going, so his father brought him back.
Ha! That bastard’s got some nerve, coming back to Liujiawan. Might as well invite the beating!”
After hearing Sister Huang’s words, Ming Dai’s worry vanished, and she looked coldly at the group being repeatedly pounded by Zhou Sinian.
So they were the ones who captured Zhou Sinian, not only beating him but locking him up.
Zhou Sinian said he was imprisoned for days, given nothing but water, starving until he couldn’t bear it and had to fight his way out.
Serves them right!
If they can’t kill him, then beat them longer. Winter’s slow and boring anyway.
She gladly accepted the peanuts from Sister Huang, then took some pine nuts from her shoulder bag to share with the other sisters-in-law. They ate while watching Zhou Sinian fight, cheering at the exciting moments.
Soon, the crowd around was energized, chanting and cheering for Zhou Sinian, while the beaten men on the ground gritted their teeth.
In the end, except for the fat man knocked out early on, the remaining seven or eight lay bruised and battered on the ice, so disfigured their parents wouldn’t recognize them.
Zhou Sinian, satisfied, clapped his hands and returned to Ming Dai’s side. “Ming Dai, I’m hungry. Let’s go home and eat.”
She looked him over. Aside from some scrapes on his hands, he seemed unhurt and his clothes were clean. She nodded approvingly.
Then she turned to Sister Huang. “Sister, what about those people lying on the ice? If they stay there too long, won’t they freeze?”
Sister Huang spat towards the group. “Good. None of them are worth anything. Keeping them around only causes trouble for our girls!”
Ming Dai thought, That’s not what I meant.
Clapping her hands, Sister Huang waved off her concern. “Don’t worry about it. My father should have heard by now and will be here soon. He’ll take care of sending them back. He knows the procedure well. You two go home first. Isn’t he hungry?”
Seeing Sister Huang so relaxed, Ming Dai agreed and led Zhou Sinian back.
Zhou Sinian didn’t forget to gather the Red Scarf Squad he brought along.
The children lined up again, proud and spirited, heading toward the village.
They had all seen the fight. Big Brother is amazing!
Next time my dad hits me, I’ll call on Big Brother! Let’s see if he dares to hit me then!
On the way, Ming Dai met Liu Dazhu and Liu Qingmin rushing over. Before she could explain, Liu Dazhu waved her off. “Xiaoming, you all go home first. I’ve got to hurry and take those little brats to the commune. If we're late, we’ll miss dinner. The commune’s a long way off.”
With that, the two hurried away.
Ming Dai stood there, feeling dazed. This world was nothing like the era she knew.
After beating the commune director’s son, no one in Liujiawan was afraid; there were plenty watching the show.
Even the team leader worried more about missing dinner than the director’s wrath.
Too surreal.
Zhou Sinian really is a dangerous influence!
But she liked him all the same!
