"Who is it?" she asked.

The person startled, turned around quickly, and bowed. "Hello, Engineer Lin! I am Dou Yangyang."

Lin Xi glanced at her, realizing this was her new assistant. "Why are you here so early? I thought you wouldn't be starting for a few days."

She pushed open the office door and signaled for her to follow. Engineer Chen and the others hadn't arrived yet, so they were alone. As Lin Xi sat down and opened her laptop, Dou Yangyang said, "I received a call from HR shortly after I left the company yesterday, asking when I could start. It happened to be convenient for me, so I came in today."

Lin Xi nodded and asked, "Did HR brief you on everything?"

"Yes!" The HR manager had come by first thing in the morning, repeatedly emphasizing and reminding her of Lin Xi’s daily habits and taboos.
