Chapter 40: Plunder!
"Boom!"
A dull, thunderous roar erupted! The terrifying shockwave instantly snapped the wrist-thick trees in the vicinity! A crimson figure was sent flying backward from the swirling dust, plummeting down the mountainside.
The two instructors monitoring the scene saw their expressions shift instantly, realizing things had taken a dire turn! Fortunately, in the next moment, Yang Feng charged out of the dust, grabbing the unconscious Xiang Yang by the ankle and hauling him back to the summit.
As their wristbands touched, Xiang Yang’s points were completely plundered by Yang Feng. Seeing his total jump by five thousand, Yang Feng felt a surge of secret satisfaction. He then cast his gaze down from the peak.
The commotion of their clash had been so extravagant that countless people looked up to watch! Among them was Bai Wu, the legendary kendo genius. Feeling a sudden premonition, Bai Wu looked up. Though they were separated by hundreds of meters, he felt as if he were being locked onto by a starving tiger. A hair-raising sensation made his skin crawl!
Danger! Danger! Danger!
The feeling was so intense and yet so absurd! They were hundreds of meters apart, with a massive cliff in between; it made no sense to feel such a threat. However, in the next instant, he understood exactly why.
Yang Feng had moved!
He leaped directly off the cliff, carrying a terrifying momentum as he dove from the summit. The height of several dozen meters was no obstacle to him at all!
"A tiger descending the mountain!" The thought flashed through Bai Wu’s mind.
"Damn it!" Bai Wu roared, snapping back to his senses as he drew a wooden sword from his waist.
With a blade in hand, he felt no fear! No matter how powerful his opponent was, as long as he held this sword, he feared no one! Witnessing Xiang Yang’s miserable defeat, Bai Wu dared not be reckless. He immediately unleashed his strongest technique: the Raining Madness Sword.
This was his family’s ancestral martial art, one he had watched his father perform since he was a child. Everyone believed he had merely mastered it to a high degree, but in truth, he had already reached the pinnacle of perfection. In a split second, the wooden sword split into hundreds of shimmering shadows, thrusting toward Yang Feng.
Yang Feng’s eyes narrowed. Not underestimating his opponent, he threw a punch—the Master’s Crushing Fist!
Both were masters, but Yang Feng was a Second-Stage martial artist; his cultivation level was an absolute suppression! It was a case of raw force breaking through all techniques. Bai Wu’s sword stance was shattered, his eyes filled with shock.
Yang Feng’s speed did not falter. As their wristbands brushed past each other, Bai Wu’s points were instantly drained. In just one minute, Yang Feng had defeated two top-tier geniuses in succession, leaving the two instructors in the monitoring room speechless. Initially, they had been dissatisfied with Yang Feng’s lazy attitude, but seeing him perform with such ferocity, all their dissatisfaction had vanished.
"This Yang Feng is vicious! He’s like Wang Teng back in the day!" Luo Yang swallowed hard.
"His aura is far too savage; I fear even Wang Teng couldn't match him at that age. And he has mastered a Grandmaster-level martial art! Outwardly, he appears as calm as an ordinary high school student, but once he strikes, his momentum, strength, and decisiveness are beyond his years. He acts like a veteran who just stepped off the battlefield of ten thousand races! This boy is truly different," Chen Yan commented objectively.
After taking down Bai Wu, Yang Feng did not stop. He took a deep breath, his blood surging, and charged toward his next target: the martial arts genius from Kaizhou City!
He was like a tiger; every step he took on the ground caused the earth to rumble with a dull thud. Within a few breaths, he had surged over a hundred meters! The trees blocking his path were as fragile as foam, shattering at the slightest contact.
Huo Hua, the top genius of Kaizhou, stared intently at the forest ahead. Although no one was visible, the trembling grass and trees told him that a terrifying "beast" was rapidly closing in. This inexplicable pressure stirred a hint of fear within him.
The feeling brought him a sense of boundless shame. He could lose, he could even die, but as the top genius of Kaizhou, his pride would not allow him to tremble! Biting his tongue to force his rationality back, he decided: if he couldn't hide, he would fight!
In the next moment, he activated his lightning-attribute ability combined with his breathing technique. His entire body was wreathed in electric arcs, his hair stood on end, and his pupils, rendered blue by the lightning, stared ahead, waiting for his foe.
"Rumble!"
Like a rampaging rhinoceros, Yang Feng smashed through a dozen trees and lunged at Huo Hua.
Huo Hua roared, "Martial Art: Galloping Thunder Fist!"
Wrapped in lightning like a son of thunder, his confidence peaked. The two figures, crackling with electric arcs, collided in mid-air! As their fists met, lightning flashed. Huo Hua’s fist stance was instantly broken, and he lost consciousness. Yang Feng transformed his fist into a claw, sweeping the points from the other’s wristband.
Five thousand six hundred points gained!
At this moment, Yang Feng held over twenty thousand points. He was undoubtedly the highest-scoring candidate in this examination. Although he wanted to continue his harvest, he had only spotted Bai Wu and Huo Hua from the peak. He did not know where the other top geniuses were and would have to search for them.
"If only the wristbands had a tracking function," Yang Feng muttered to himself.
Just as he thought this, a prompt sounded from everyone’s wristbands: "A candidate has exceeded twenty thousand points. The points leaderboard is now active, and the location tracking system is enabled!"
In the next instant, the leaderboard appeared on their wristbands:
First Place: Yang Feng, 20,600 points.
Second Place: Yan Xue, 5,300 points.
Third Place: Meng Hao, 5,000 points.
...
Ninth Place: Nangong Hang, 3,800 points.
Seeing that Nangong Hang, whom he had already robbed once, could still rank ninth, Yang Feng was quite surprised. He truly was a high-quality "leek"—even after being harvested once, he could grow back so quickly! He began to reflect on whether he had been too heavy-handed with Bai Wu and Xiang Yang. They were all high-quality leeks, after all! If he hadn't knocked them unconscious, he might have been able to harvest them again.
"Oh well, I’ll be more careful next time!"
He now intended to use the tracking system to hunt down Yan Xue and the others. Unlike the calm on Yang Feng’s side, the other candidates were gaping in shock as they saw the rankings!
Before the start of the direct admission exam, some thought Xiang Yang would be first, others thought Nangong Hang would take the top spot, or perhaps the top genius from another city. But now, the person in first place was an unknown named Yang Feng! And his points were an astronomical twenty thousand, far surpassing the second-place candidate!
A giant question mark appeared in everyone’s minds. Who is this Yang Feng? What about Xiang Yang, Bai Wu, and Huo Hua? Besides Nangong Hang, where did everyone else in the top ten go?
Unfortunately, no one was there to answer their questions, and endless uncertainty swirled in the hearts of the crowd.
