Meanwhile, Wang Linshan stared at the disconnected call, fury rising uncontrollably. "This Su Nianxi is truly lawless—she’s even learned to threaten people now?! President Chen, look at this..."

"Stick to the plan," President Chen said, calming himself and returning to his usual composed demeanor. "These youngsters nowadays think they can scare others just by speaking a few words. They haven’t weathered any real storms. Hmph, if Su Nianxi really had evidence against us, would she still be lying low until now? It’s just empty threats; you don’t need to be afraid."

"When this is over, it’ll be your time to get promoted and get a raise," the tall, thin vice president added with a sinister grin etched deeply into his wrinkled face.

Wang Linshan was satisfied and smiled ingratiatingly as she headed for the door.

But as she pulled open the glass door of the conference room, she collided head-on with a panicked secretary rushing in.

"Secretary Zhang, didn’t we agree you’d be more composed at work? What’s the matter now?" President Chen, just about to leave, looked displeased at the sight of the secretary.

"President Chen, Vice President Sun, bad news. Our stock has suddenly been massively sold off. The stock price is plummeting. If this continues, our cash flow might break..." Secretary Zhang said trembling, her tablet shaking in her hand.

"What?!" President Chen snatched the device from Secretary Zhang and stared at the stock information, his vision darkening.

"Who? Who’s behind this?" The tall Vice President Sun was still clear-headed enough to realize someone was maliciously sabotaging them. "Have you found out?"

"It should... be Yaoshi Group," Secretary Zhang answered reliably, having already traced the competitor’s name.

"Yaoshi? Isn’t that a big company backed by one of City A’s established families? Why would they suddenly target our small Xinglan? Besides, our businesses don’t conflict, so it makes no sense for them to attack us," Vice President Sun said, confused by this familiar yet foreign group.

"Wait, Yaoshi, Yaoshi..." President Chen suddenly seemed to recall something and pulled out his phone to search.

In no time, he was so shocked by the Baidu Encyclopedia entry that he nearly dropped his phone.

"This Yaoshi is a subsidiary of the Su Group," President Chen’s voice turned heavy with disbelief as he stared at the screen, murmuring, "Impossible, this can’t be... Su Nianxi can’t be connected to the Su Group."

"Do you think Yaoshi targeted us because of Su Nianxi?" Vice President Sun caught his meaning.

Yet he still thought President Chen was just scaring himself. He patted his shoulder to comfort him, "Don’t panic yet. They just share the same surname; it doesn’t mean they’re connected. Besides, Su Nianxi’s been here for five years. If she really had ties to the Su Group, they would have acted long ago—not waited this long."

"That’s true..." President Chen relaxed slightly. Closing his eyes, he looked up and instructed Secretary Zhang, "Go contact Yaoshi and see if there’s any room for negotiation. They’re a big company; we can’t afford to provoke them. Maybe if we offer something, they’ll ease up."

"Well..." Secretary Zhang hesitated instead of nodding as usual, carefully squeezing out, "Before reporting here, we had already contacted Yaoshi’s representative, but they were obviously unwilling to cooperate."

"What did they say?" President Chen frowned again.

"Just one sentence," Secretary Zhang said, reading from the file Yaoshi sent, "I’m not as kind as my sister. Dare to trap her? Today is your death day."

At the file’s end, a flamboyant signature read “Su Yan.”

President Chen snatched the phone from Secretary Zhang, glaring at the words until he nearly blacked out.

Vice President Sun’s face darkened like the bottom of a pot. He read the document repeatedly but could not swallow the bitter truth.

Su Nianxi was actually the president of Yaoshi’s sister?!

Such a thing would be unbelievable if it leaked out.

But this was the reality.

And their attempt to frame Su Nianxi only brought about the company’s imminent collapse instead of her submission.

"President Chen, should I still contact the marketing accounts?" Wang Linshan, who hadn’t left after overhearing the meeting, couldn’t help but interject as things began to spiral unexpectedly.

She didn’t care about the company’s internal affairs.

She only knew Su Nianxi made quite a bit every year and that she couldn’t just let a cooked duck fly away.

"Contact? Contact my foot! Didn’t you see they slapped us right in the face?" President Chen pointed at Wang Linshan’s nose and began to curse loudly. "See, this is your brilliant idea. If you hadn’t insisted on contacting the marketing accounts to pressure Su Nianxi, would we be in this mess?"

"Me?" Wang Linshan laughed bitterly at his words. Wasn’t this his idea from the start? How did it become her problem in the end?

She had been a top agent at Xinglan before, but after being scolded like that, she refused to argue. "Fine, if it’s my fault, I’ll resign to make amends. Besides, if this company’s done for, I might as well find a new path."

She flicked her hand and prepared to leave, but Vice President Sun’s chilling voice came from behind: "Wang Linshan, don’t forget all the kickbacks you’ve taken from artists before. Do you really think you can just walk away now?"

Wang Linshan turned back in disbelief, only to see two faces lurking in the shadows.

Those faces were so sinister that she shuddered involuntarily.

"We’re all cut from the same cloth. If Xinglan falls, you won’t escape either."

Su Nianxi brushed a lock of white wig near her eyes and happily admired the preview images of herself.

"So beautiful, Nian Nian. You really suit this mechanical princess look," Xiao Qu said, staring at Su Nianxi’s metallic makeup and pure white waist-length wig. She thought this woman belonged only in the heavens.

"I think so too," Su Nianxi said without modesty. When others praised her, she gladly accepted it. "I told you I suit ice-blue contact lenses, didn’t I?"

"Absolutely!" The photographer was also very pleased looking at the preview. "Teacher Su, if you ever switch to styling, I’d wholeheartedly support you."

"Thanks, but no thanks. I can’t serve the masters," Su Nianxi said with self-awareness. If she had to face those picky artists, she’d probably quit on the first day.

"Finished shooting?"

After chatting a bit, Su Yan came in from outside with his phone in hand.

"Where were you just now?" Su Nianxi blinked at him, wondering since he hadn’t been on set.

"Handling some business," Su Yan muttered vaguely.

"No wonder, the son of the Su family is born to be a domineering CEO," Su Nianxi gave him a thumbs-up and curiously asked, "Big bro CEO, can you make others go bankrupt just by snapping your fingers?"

Su Yan tapped her forehead with a mischievous grin, "Not just that. Whether it’s cool or not, I can make people go bankrupt."

"Really? Can you show me right now?" Su Nianxi looked at her unreliable big brother, not believing a word.

Su Yan smiled silently at his little sister who stared at him like a desperate hamster and only said, "Maybe I’ll show you someday."

"Oh~~" Su Nianxi squinted and smiled, not taking his words seriously, spinning around to continue admiring her beautiful photos.

Little did she know, while she was shooting for these hours, the world outside had already undergone a seismic upheaval.
