Chapter 20 The Mu Family's Privilege
Jin Yuchuan let out a light chuckle, his hand tentatively resting on Ye Chunxi's shoulder.
"It's fine, he won't blame you." He glanced sideways, a smile touching his eyes as he looked at Mu Yicheng. "Am I right, A-Cheng?"
Mu Yicheng's gaze was fixed on his hand, and he felt an even sharper pain in his chest.
Ye Chunxi frowned slightly, turned her head, and questioned, "You two know each other?"
Sensing that Mu Yicheng's gaze was perhaps too intense, making him somewhat uncomfortable, Jin Yuchuan withdrew his hand and explained unhurriedly, "The Mu family has always provided funding for the Medical Alliance. I was only able to get into this seminar thanks to the eldest young master of the Mu family."
Secretly boosting Mu Yicheng's standing, he continued, "I told the eldest young master about your situation, so he asked me to bring you along to see if we could get some experts to examine you."
Even so, Ye Chunxi still felt somewhat annoyed with Mu Yicheng.
However, since she had accepted their favor, she adopted a sincere attitude and said to him, "Thank you, Young Master Mu. I was a bit reckless just now."
Mu Yicheng knew his actions had been presumptuous, especially since his younger sister had forgotten him, and previously they had barely been acquaintances.
He silently adjusted his mindset to ease the ache in his chest, withdrew the hand his secretary had been supporting, and straightened his suit jacket.
"It's nothing. Let's go in."
His recovery was so rapid that Ye Chunxi raised an eyebrow, an indescribable sense of strangeness lingering in her heart.
Thinking nothing more of it, she quietly followed Jin Yuchuan inside, guided by Mu Yicheng.
Having been knocked to the ground, Mu Yicheng's suit jacket was stained with dust at the back, giving him a strangely comical look that brought a smile to Ye Chunxi's lips.
...
Guided by Secretary Lin, they went straight to the venue and took their seats in the very corner.
On the stage, an elderly man sitting in the principal seat was speaking.
Judging by his words and the nameplate vaguely visible in front of him, he should be the vice president of the Medical Alliance.
Ye Chunxi was astonished.
As the most authoritative medical organization in the country, only top-tier professionals in the industry could attend a seminar of this caliber.
It was impossible to enter without an invitation.
Sensing her confusion, Jin Yuchuan explained, "The Mu family provides the lion's share of the funding for the Alzheimer's disease project, and has done so for years. Whenever this topic is involved, the Mu family holds special privileges."
Several other leaders spoke in turn, followed by a renowned neurology expert who reported on recent progress in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and began to elaborate on several new treatment plans.
Just then, Mu Yicheng quietly pushed the door open and entered.
He had changed into a fresh suit and restyled his hair. He walked over to sit beside Jin Yuchuan and listened quietly.
Ye Chunxi showed little interest in this, leaning slightly to the side as a trace of weariness washed over her.
"Next, we will open the floor for free discussion."
The host of the seminar, an elderly man and a renowned neurology expert within the Medical Alliance, looked out at the audience and spoke in a gentle voice.
"Anyone who has new perspectives on the treatment plans should feel free to speak up. Let us pool our wisdom and discuss them together."
Everyone present was a medical expert who had come fully prepared, and soon several proposals were put forward, though none were entirely comprehensive yet.
In the corner, the fair-skinned and delicate girl listened intently to the speeches on stage, occasionally looking down at her own notes to mark areas for revision.
The elderly man on the stage accurately cast his gaze toward her, his aged face breaking into a warm and indescribably kind smile.
"Yue, my girl, do you have any insights to share?"
Almost simultaneously, every gaze in the venue turned toward the young woman sitting near the back.
Everyone present was either a veteran physician of several decades or a heavyweight with outstanding contributions to the industry. The sudden appearance of such a youthful face inevitably invited skepticism from anyone.
Judging by her age, she could not have been more than a little over twenty.
