Chapter 17 Ling Qiao: Want to play some games? I'll carry you.
Hearing this address, Ye Chunxi froze. A strange sensation surged within her, causing her to knit her brows. Before she could even turn around, Ling Qiao had already arrived by her side. Beads of sweat rolled down his hair, dampening his forehead, and his clothes were soaked through with perspiration.
Ye Chunxi was surprised. "You went for a morning workout?"
"Suppose so." Ling Qiao wiped the sweat from his head and stood akimbo, looking at her. "What are you doing here? Trying to sneak onto your brother's computer?"
The word "computer" made Ye Chunxi recall the instructions Jin Yuchuan had given before he left yesterday. Playing with electronic devices seemed to be something he had specifically mentioned. Seeing her remain silent, Ling Qiao assumed she felt guilty about being caught and gave a generous laugh.
"If you want to play, just play. Why be afraid to admit it? Although I don't know much about those things, I know your brother; his equipment must be the best." He rubbed his hands together. "How about it? Want to go in and play a round together?"
Ye Chunxi’s gaze steadied for a half-second, and she turned to look at Butler Kong, seeking his opinion.
The latter frowned. "The young master does not live here, and other than daily cleaning, his courtyard is generally off-limits."
Ling Qiao retorted, "Such a possessive nature; no wonder he hides his sister away in these deep mountains and forests."
The remark left Butler Kong speechless.
Ling Qiao waved his hand. "Forget it. We don't need a computer anyway; we'll find somewhere else to play." He understood Jin Yuchuan’s habits well. He was like someone with a psychological obsession for cleanliness, never allowing others to touch his belongings casually. Furthermore, having just finished exercising, his body was covered in sweat, and his clothes clung to his skin in a sticky, uncomfortable way. He hadn't eaten breakfast yet either, so there was no rush to play games.
"Little Sister Jin, I'll go back to take a shower and grab something to eat. I'll come find you to play when I'm done."
Just as he turned to leave, he suddenly remembered he hadn't mentioned what they would be playing and asked, "Do you know how to play 'Heroic Hegemony'?"
Ye Chunxi had an impression of this game. It was a MOBA game under the umbrella of Jin Yuchuan’s company—a multiplayer online real-time strategy game set in an arena. Players were divided into two teams, controlling their chosen characters to compete on a dispersed map and work together to achieve victory. It was very popular in its genre, and the "Co-creation Night" on the 15th had been hosted by "Heroic Hegemony."
When Ye Chunxi had looked into it, she had roughly scanned the rules and felt a sense of familiarity. She figured she must have played it before and replied slowly, "I suppose so."
Ling Qiao didn't press her. "It's fine, I'll carry you. I'm heading back now, I'll come find you in a bit."
He strode away, turning back to wave at Ye Chunxi. The latter stood in place, looking slightly awkward. Once he had run far off, Butler Kong asked, "Miss Ye, if you wish to play, do you need me to help you get an account?"
"Get one?" Ye Chunxi asked, puzzled.
"Young people like to have nice skins when they play. I can help you get an account that has all the skins unlocked. It won't have any friends, but it will look quite prestigious when you play."
Ye Chunxi couldn't refute this logic. Besides, she didn't remember her old account and would have needed to register a new one anyway. Since a new account would require going through the tutorial, which was a real hassle, she agreed. Butler Kong immediately made a call to Nan Sheng.
...
Jihuan Group.
Jin Yuchuan, who had specifically instructed Nan Sheng to report anything regarding Ye Chunxi to him, twitched his brow upon hearing this news. His original intention in letting Ye Chunxi touch electronic devices was to test her knowledge of information technology, not for her to be swindled by Ling Qiao into playing games!
Nan Sheng, who had already given out the account, was anxious. "Master Jin, should I intervene?"
Jin Yuchuan waved his hand. "If she wants to play, let her play."
He was only curious about the people around Ye Chunxi; as for whether she knew how to play or not, he didn't care. It was enough to simply confirm that she was Bai Lan.
...
After finishing breakfast, Ling Qiao hurried to Jinsui Building. Ye Chunxi was sitting in the small courtyard reading a medical book, her black hair soft and hazy, draped casually over her shoulders. She leaned forward slightly, strands of hair brushing against her cheeks, causing her beautiful brows to knit together in a faint, restless irritation.
The mountain forest was cool, with a thin breeze blowing. Ye Chunxi wore a smoky cyan gauze robe that transitioned from light to dark, as if stained by ink, complementing the white magnolia embroidered on the chest of her dress.
Not far in front of her grew a peach tree. Petals drifted down, landing on the leaves. She picked one up and twirled it gently, the sharpness between her brows seemingly dissipating. As the wind blew, it stirred her hair, and the hems of her gauze robe and skirt fluttered, bringing with them waves of fragrance.
The atmosphere and her temperament caused an image to surface in Ling Qiao's mind. He stared at Ye Chunxi, dazedly realizing how remarkably similar the two of them were.
"Worthy of being from the same school," he muttered to himself, shaking his head gently.
