Chapter 10: Jin Yuchuan’s Persistence, True to the CEO Archetype
Jin Yuchuan nodded slightly and turned his head to look at Ye Chunxi, who was trailing a step behind him.
"The city is far too clamorous. It is peaceful and serene here, where no one will disturb you, which will also be beneficial for your recovery."
He gestured toward an elderly man and introduced him, "This is Butler Kong. If you have any needs or questions, just let him know."
The young woman stood below the steps, her gaze fixed on the mountain scenery in the distance. Dewdrops clung to her long, fluttering eyelashes, and a light drizzle misted the tips of her hair. The fresh air, imbued with the fragrance of earth and vegetation, carried a slight chill that brushed against her skin—not cold, but rather exceptionally comforting.
In just a moment, her chaotic and troubled mind found a profound sense of peace, and the stifling melancholy she had harbored during her days in the hospital began to dissipate.
Hearing Jin Yuchuan’s words, Ye Chunxi turned back, lifted her eyes to look at the old man before her, and called out with a touch of reserve, "Butler Kong."
Butler Kong examined her briefly, and upon hearing her voice, a gentle, kindly smile bloomed on his face. "Miss Ye."
Jin Yuchuan glanced inside; aside from a few servants who had come to help with the luggage, he saw no one else. "Where is Ling Qiao?" he asked.
Butler Kong replied respectfully, "Young Master Ling went out early this morning and has not yet returned. He didn't take his phone, so we haven't been able to contact him."
Jin Yuchuan fell silent for a moment before turning to Ye Chunxi. "You follow Butler Kong to your room first; I have matters to attend to."
Ye Chunxi nodded obediently. Butler Kong stepped aside and gestured, "Miss Ye, please."
In the center of the garden stood a vast artificial lake, with a wooden bridge spanning its narrower sections. He led Ye Chunxi across to a building on the opposite bank—a three-story Chinese-style pavilion with the characters "Jin Shui Lou" (Water-Adjacent Pavilion) written in bold, sweeping calligraphy on the plaque.
Inside, the antique architecture blended seamlessly with modern technology, creating a harmonious atmosphere. Butler Kong remained near the doorway, maintaining a respectful distance.
"Miss Ye, everything here has been arranged according to the young master's instructions. The books brought from the hospital have been placed in the study on the second floor. Please settle in and get familiar with your surroundings." He produced his phone. "This is my number. If you need anything, feel free to instruct the servants or contact me directly."
Ye Chunxi saved his number, and after the old man took his leave, she stood in the spacious pavilion. Servants moved about quietly, and her calm, solitary figure seemed especially serene.
A tinkling sound caught her ear. Ye Chunxi looked up; on the platform extending outward, sheltered by the eaves, hung a string of vintage wind chimes. Potted plants formed a natural fence, encircling this small, private sanctuary.
In the sheltered area sat a rattan chair, and on the table beside it was a complete tea set. Such an atmosphere was truly inviting.
Ye Chunxi shook off her thoughts, went upstairs, and followed the servants' directions to find her bedroom. Occupying the entire third floor, the room was vast, expansive, and quiet.
With very few belongings, she tidied up briefly before heading back downstairs to sit in the rattan chair. She picked up a few heavy books from the small table and began to read with tranquil ease.
The rain slowed to a fine, light mist. There was no pattering sound to be heard, nor the feeling of a downpour. In the distance, the mountain forests were veiled in a thin haze, growing even more tranquil.
On the opposite bank, in a towering building, Jin Yuchuan stood on the balcony looking down, watching the little girl’s lonely and quiet silhouette. He observed her silently as Qing Ya stood behind him, reporting with professional diligence.
"As it stands, the other party has likely obtained all relevant information regarding Bai Lan's medical condition. Because we kept the family’s information confidential in advance and our security systems were not breached, they do not know your identity." He paused before continuing, "We used the security cameras near the hospital to run facial recognition on the two individuals. After cross-referencing regional data and their own skill sets, we have identified several suspects."
Qing Ya stepped forward and handed over a tablet for his review. Jin Yuchuan slowly turned his eyes to the screen; the men in the dossiers were all physically formidable. He frowned. "What about the other person?"
Qing Ya pursed his lips. "The facial data was not accurate. Initially, we did pin down a few targets, but upon closer investigation, we found that the information for one of them was very strange—his records in society were incomplete."
"Incomplete?" Jin Yuchuan asked, puzzled.
"Yes," Qing Ya nodded. "Our investigation revealed that the identity information was very generic, possessing only a rough framework without any detailed social trajectory, as if... it had been fabricated in advance."
"Therefore, I suspect this person's identity is forged." As a fellow hacker, Qing Ya knew exactly how difficult that was to achieve. "There are no more than ten people in the world capable of doing this. Most of the top hackers in Xia are under our employ, which leaves only one person: 'X'."
"Interesting." The corners of Jin Yuchuan’s lips curled upward as he looked down with intrigue. His gaze rested on Ye Chunxi, who was leisurely leafing through her books.
At such a young age, her mastery of Traditional Chinese Medicine was astounding, revered as a treasure by the Medical Alliance. And now, she was deeply connected to the world’s undisputed top hacker, "X."
His dark pupils were murky and impenetrable; his predatory gaze was filled with both admiration and a desire to possess the girl. This gem he had "stumbled upon" was even more surprising than he had imagined.
"About this person..." Qing Ya began to report further, but the tablet was suddenly taken back from his hands.
Jin Yuchuan withdrew his gaze and walked inside. "There is no need to continue investigating that man's identity."
He sat in his office chair and glanced up at Qing Ya. His expression appeared calm and indifferent, yet it carried an undeniable sense of authority.
"Find a way to contact Ling Qiao and have him return as soon as possible."
Qing Ya was confused, but seeing Jin Yuchuan's demeanor—as if he had already guessed the identity of the man with the formidable skills—he did not ask further questions.
"I understand."
...
Ye Chunxi rubbed her tired eyes and looked into the distance to relieve the fatigue caused by long hours of reading. Having spent so many days in the hospital, reading was her only pastime, and she had already finished the books Jin Yuchuan had brought her.
She had found a few new ones in the study earlier, but the high-intensity reading over the past few days left her feeling bored.
She picked up her phone and opened Weibo to see if there were any new updates from Yin Xinyao. Even though she felt frustrated by her inability to recall things despite her efforts, Ye Chunxi could not help but investigate.
During this time, she had frequently listened to Yin Xinyao’s songs. To learn more about her, she had downloaded Weibo and discovered some information about the singer. The sense of familiarity was so overwhelming that Ye Chunxi became increasingly convinced that they knew each other. Moreover, for some reason, she felt an indescribable emotion toward one of Yin Xinyao’s songs.
Exiting her personal page, Ye Chunxi completed the daily tasks in the fan group and browsed through the posts below. Amidst the praise and sympathy, the condemnations from a segment of the public were particularly prominent. The fallout from the previous apology letter had not yet fully passed.
Ye Chunxi scanned through them indifferently until she happened upon a post regarding Yin Xinyao’s upcoming performance schedule for the next few days. One of the shows was happening right in Jin City.
