Chapter 15: Brother’s Trust, Madam Jin Ye
“Pfft—”
Ling Qiao simply couldn’t hold it in any longer and burst out laughing.
He dared not make too much noise, covering his mouth as he convulsed with laughter, looking utterly ridiculous.
Unable to contain himself, he laughed out loud, “You’re actually faking it, hahahaha!”
Jin Yuchuan was well aware and calmly accepted the physical issues caused by long hours of overtime work.
It was just that the people around him were too noisy, which annoyed him greatly.
Ling Qiao, oblivious to this, continued to mock, “Looks like I’m not the only one who needs special training... No, you actually need it more than I do, hahahaha!”
Jin Yuchuan’s gaze swept over, his voice low and heavy with an imposing pressure: “Finished eating?”
Those three words instantly made Ling Qiao shrink back. He coughed twice, forcing himself to suppress his laughter, and humbly hugged his bowl.
“No, no, you two continue. I won’t disturb.”
Having grown up being looked down upon by Jin Yuchuan, how could he possibly give up such a rare opportunity?
Unless, of course, the price was missing a meal...
Seeing him like a frightened quail, Jin Yuchuan looked again at Ye Chunxi and asked, “Can you help replenish my health?”
Ye Chunxi nodded slightly. “I have a few ideas.”
Jin Yuchuan withdrew his hand and rolled up his sleeves. “Then help me recover.”
Ye Chunxi was momentarily stunned, her pupils dilating as she looked at Jin Yuchuan in disbelief.
“Me?”
“Mm.” Jin Yuchuan understood her hesitation, his tone resolute. “I trust you. Maybe it will even stimulate your memory recovery.”
“But...”
Ye Chunxi was about to refuse when the man beside her suddenly looked over.
In the air, their eyes met.
His sparkling peach blossom eyes curved slightly as if smiling, those naturally alluring eyes softened by a hint of warmth.
Unlike his usual stern demeanor, it was like a spring breeze had arrived, breathing life into his otherwise cold and desolate gaze.
“You wouldn’t poison me, would you?”
His earnest expression paired with the teasing words.
Ye Chunxi felt a warmth in her heart and shook her head. “No.”
“Then go ahead and do it. If you need anything, just tell Butler Kong. He’ll handle everything.”
With that, he picked up his chopsticks and continued eating.
---
He acted as if no one else existed, clearly signaling he didn’t want to continue the topic.
That matter was settled then and there.
Ye Chunxi lowered her lashes and didn’t argue further.
It wasn’t that Jin Yuchuan was reckless—since he was surrounded by so many doctors, medication and examinations were obviously already being taken care of.
Ye Chunxi understood clearly that what he was doing was encouraging her to regain her skills and strive to recover her memory as soon as possible.
...
Jin Yuchuan didn’t eat much during the meal.
He answered a call midway and said he had to leave due to urgent matters.
“I’m very busy and won’t be back often.” Jin Yuchuan stood up, grabbed his suit jacket, put it on swiftly, and turned to report to Ye Chunxi.
His gaze shifted slightly, resting on Ling Qiao, who was still engrossed in eating.
“If you want to go out, send me a message beforehand and have Ling Qiao accompany you.”
“Okay.” Ye Chunxi obediently agreed.
The rain had stopped, but the garden was still shrouded in a faint mist, the droplets chilling as they landed.
Butler Kong advised Jin Yuchuan to take an umbrella just in case.
Ye Chunxi wanted to see him off but was refused. “The round trip is too long. You’d better focus on figuring out how to help me recover.”
His voice was indifferent, betraying no emotion.
Suddenly recalling the hacker and the martial artist they had met at the hospital, Jin Yuchuan’s eyes flickered slightly. He turned and carefully instructed, “The Waterside Pavilion is fully equipped with electronic devices. If you get bored, feel free to play around.”
Ye Chunxi nodded one by one, watching his retreating figure until he disappeared from sight, then slowly went back to sit down.
Her casual movement startled the person opposite her.
Ling Qiao looked up. “He’s gone?”
Ye Chunxi’s expression was blank. “Mm.”
Ling Qiao frowned. “Why do you look like a left-behind child?”
“I know you two are close, but you can’t cling to each other all the time.” He sounded a bit disdainful. “Little sister, I know you’ve lacked family affection since childhood, but you need to keep some boundaries with your brother.”
“Don’t be fooled just because your brother is handsome. He’s in his twenties and hasn’t even dated. You don’t know how anxious your grandfather is—he’s already taken the liberty to arrange a blind date for him. If you’re always by his side, what if your future sister-in-law misunderstands?”
Ye Chunxi was inexplicably scolded.
She knew Jin Yuchuan had his own life, and even as his sister, she shouldn’t interfere too much.
Her stiff expression wasn’t due to reluctance but rather a strange feeling about their interactions.
Perhaps it was the first time she truly felt what having a family was like, and she was a bit unaccustomed.
---
Yet Ling Qiao’s lengthy speech sparked her curiosity.
“Does my brother have a girlfriend?”
Butler Kong panicked and hastily explained, “Master just had the idea, but they haven’t officially met yet. Miss Ye, don’t misunderstand.”
“Yeah,” Ling Qiao chimed in. “Your brother’s a lone wolf. Besides you, there aren’t many women close to him. He’s like the aloof CEO male lead in romance novels. But that’s mostly due to his environment.”
His voice softened on that last sentence.
Ye Chunxi could understand—someone so outstanding, constantly tangled between studies and career, hardly had time for romance.
After the meal, Ye Chunxi was about to return to the Waterside Pavilion, with Butler Kong silently following behind.
Stepping out of the pavilion, he spoke earnestly, “Miss Ye, the young master has been alone in Jin City for so many years without anyone close to him. I’ve watched him grow up, and it pains me. Please spend as much time with him as you can.”
Ye Chunxi’s voice was cool. “Brother is very busy.”
“That’s true, but being constantly busy with work is bad for his health.” Butler Kong worried. “Please persuade him to rest properly.”
“I will.” Ye Chunxi promised.
Jin Yuchuan was indeed worn out, but his physical constitution was surprisingly strong.
Moreover, his pulse seemed unusual—different from ordinary people, with an extra vigor.
How exactly was hard to describe.
If she could recover her memories, she might understand.
...
The morning glow was splendid, with a veil-like mist lingering over the mountains.
A gentle breeze blew, carrying the fresh, cool air of dawn, and dew threatened to drop from the forest’s foliage.
Everything was so pure and refreshing that it felt like a faint ink wash painting.
Ye Chunxi, as always, rose early. After washing up, she sat in a rattan chair with several medical books in hand.
Though she had ideas on how to restore Jin Yuchuan’s health, she preferred to be cautious with medication.
After drafting several plans, she carefully reviewed them.
Soon, a servant knocked on the door, calling her to breakfast.
Butler Kong had arrived early to wait.
“Miss Ye, the young master instructed to have you sent to the International Convention Center before 2:30. He will be waiting there. After lunch, you can take a nap.”
