Volume One, Chapter Three: Fu Xicheng, We're Done!
Fu Xicheng snapped back to reality, his voice chilling to the bone. He reached out and firmly grasped Su Tingwan’s hand just as she was about to continue, his gaze sharp and ruthless.
This man, always proud and indifferent, instantly transformed for the woman he loved.
Su Tingwan’s eyes reddened.
Looking at the man she had loved for ten years, a wave of heartache surged within her.
“Yes, I should have lost my mind long ago.”
Suddenly, she raised her hand and struck Fu Xicheng’s face hard.
“Fu Xicheng, it’s over between us.”
Since the moment their daughter died, she had wanted to say these words to him.
From now on, their paths would part ways—each to their own life.
Su Tingwan withdrew her hand, her palm tingling from the force she had used.
Fu Xicheng’s left cheek visibly reddened; in all his life, this was the first time a woman had slapped him.
His face darkened with a terrifying coldness as he stared at Su Tingwan, his eyes filled with unspoken cruelty, a cold laugh escaping his lips. “Hmph.”
Su Tingwan said no more and turned away.
She knew Fu Xicheng wouldn’t believe her.
After all, in his eyes, she had schemed and clawed her way into his bed just to be with him.
For five years, she had stayed by his side without name or status.
How could she possibly bear to end things with him?
...
Three days later, at Yuyuan.
Fu Xicheng returned home exhausted, only to be greeted by an empty, silent house.
Su Tingwan had taken Xixi and left.
His face darkened as he pulled out his phone, sending Su Tingwan a message for the first time.
“Come back.”
Two terse words, laced with command.
But as soon as he hit send, a red exclamation mark popped up.
Below it appeared the message: “Message sent but rejected by the recipient.”
Fu Xicheng: “...”
Su Tingwan had blocked him?
His expression grew colder. He made a call.
It rang once and then automatically hung up.
After several attempts, Fu Xicheng finally realized his calls had also been blocked.
Well done!
He hadn’t held a grudge when she tracked him down at the hospital over Mu Yan and Tang Tang’s breakdown, but now she was making a habit of causing trouble?
...
At Maplewood Garden.
Three days ago, Su Tingwan had left Yuyuan and moved here.
This was her foster mother’s home.
Her foster mother was a servant in the Fu household, personally caring for Fu Xicheng’s grandmother.
When she was eight, battered and bruised, she had escaped from a cruel orphanage and met her foster mother and Fu Granny.
Fu Granny saved her.
She used the Fu family’s influence to shut down the corrupt orphanage.
...
She had nowhere else to go.
Her foster mother took her in.
She followed her foster mother to the Fu household.
Later, when her foster mother passed away, this house was left to her.
After tidying up, Su Tingwan went downstairs to throw out the trash. As she was about to return upstairs, a strong hand suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Caught off guard, she stumbled.
A man’s voice, laced with obvious irritation, rang sharply above her head. “Su Tingwan, who gave you the nerve to block me?”
Su Tingwan steadied herself and looked up at the man.
Her gaze was calm and still, like a stagnant pool.
She did not answer his question but said in a steady voice, “Fu Xicheng, let go.”
Meeting her gaze, Fu Xicheng’s eyes darkened.
He did not release her but instinctively tightened his grip.
Suddenly—
A sharp pain shot through his foot.
It was Su Tingwan.
Seeing he wouldn’t let go, she raised her leg and stomped hard on his foot.
With all her might.
In pain, Fu Xicheng involuntarily loosened his grip.
Su Tingwan seized the opportunity to break free and quickly hurried upstairs.
“Su Tingwan!”
Fu Xicheng’s voice deepened several tones as he quickly caught up and reached out again.
“Don’t touch me!”
Su Tingwan was alert, swiftly dodging his hand.
Fu Xicheng watched her like she was avoiding the plague, a hint of amusement in his voice. “Su Tingwan, where haven’t I touched you, hmm?”
His words carried a suggestive undertone, brimming with endless ambiguity.
Su Tingwan’s expression instantly chilled. She clenched her fists tightly and said coldly, “Fu Xicheng, we’re already broken up.”
The implication was clear.
His words crossed the line.
Having said that, Su Tingwan turned and strode upstairs.
Fu Xicheng watched her retreating figure, leaning against the car, his eyes dark and unreadable.
...
On the third floor.
Su Tingwan entered the room and was just about to close the door when a large hand stopped her.
It was Fu Xicheng, who had followed her up.
He gave her no time to react, forcefully pushed the door open, stepped inside, and opened the exquisite gift box in his hand. “Xixi, look what Daddy brought you.”
The room was silent.
No response.
Fu Xicheng was stunned.
Every time Xixi saw him, even though she didn’t run into his arms and cling to him like Tang Tang, she would immediately rush over at the sound of his voice.
She would look at him with adoring eyes and softly call out, “Daddy.”
“Xixi’s not up yet? I’ll go wake her.”
Fu Xicheng lowered his voice, placed the gift box on the coffee table, and headed toward the bedroom.
He found nothing.
The bed was neatly made, but Xixi was not there.
His gaze swept the room.
No sign of her; only Xixi’s clothes and Su Tingwan’s hung side by side in the half-open wardrobe.
“Where’s Xixi?”
Fu Xicheng stepped out of the bedroom and looked at Su Tingwan.
She was still standing at the door, her eyes fixed on the gift box, her expression unreadable.
“You’ll never see her again!”
Su Tingwan’s voice was soft and icy cold.
“What do you mean?”
Fu Xicheng’s face darkened instantly.
Had she hidden Xixi?
Su Tingwan said nothing.
She walked to the coffee table step by step, trembling hands picking up the Elsa princess dress from the gift box, her eyes reddening.
This was Xixi’s most desired birthday present.
He had promised to give it to her.
But in the end, it had been worn by Cheng Ruotang.
Now that Cheng Ruotang had finished wearing it, he was giving it to her Xixi.
What did he take Xixi for?
“Fu Xicheng, Xixi doesn’t want it!”
Wounded, Su Tingwan lost control.
Like throwing away trash, she tossed the dress and the box out.
Their daughter’s ashes were kept in the adjacent room.
She didn’t want her to see this.
Fu Xicheng couldn’t stop her and watched helplessly as the box hit the floor. The dress inside fell out and landed on an unextinguished cigarette burn, leaving a large hole.
“Su Tingwan, have you had enough of this?”
Anger flashed in Fu Xicheng’s eyes, his brow darkening as a storm brewed within.
“Get out.”
Ignoring Fu Xicheng’s fury, Su Tingwan coldly ordered him away.
Fu Xicheng’s face was terrifyingly cold.
Just as the atmosphere was about to freeze, his phone rang.
It was Cheng Muyan calling.
Fu Xicheng looked at Su Tingwan and answered the call in front of her, “Muyan.”
His tone was gentle.
But his gaze toward Su Tingwan was icy.
Cheng Muyan’s voice was soft as she asked, “Have you picked up Xixi? Disney just called me, asking when you and Xixi will arrive so they can prepare in advance.”
“No, Xixi isn’t here.”
Fu Xicheng’s eyes never left Su Tingwan.
Seeing her still feigning indifference, his gaze grew colder and colder. “Cancel with Disney. I’m coming over now to stay with you and Tang Tang.”
