Volume One, Chapter 12: I Treat You According to What You Are!
Without the support of Fu Xicheng’s arms, Su Tingwan’s legs weakened, and she nearly slipped to the ground.
Just as she steadied herself, she saw that Ji Jingzhi was no match for Fu Xicheng. She staggered forward and blocked Fu Xicheng, refusing to let him lay a hand on Ji Jingzhi again.
Fu Xicheng lowered his eyes, coldly gazing at Su Tingwan, his voice sharp as ice. “Step aside!”
Su Tingwan refused.
Her defense of Ji Jingzhi made Fu Xicheng’s gaze grow even colder.
Without another word, he suddenly raised his hand, grabbing Su Tingwan’s arm and pulling her forcefully aside.
At the moment he looked up at Ji Jingzhi—
A gust of wind blew—
With a loud bang, the side room door was slammed shut by the wind.
Fu Xicheng didn’t notice anything amiss in the side room and strode toward Ji Jingzhi.
Ji Jingzhi suppressed the surge of blood in his chest, standing up with a cold expression. He then saw Su Tingwan had been thrown aside by Fu Xicheng, unable to steady herself, and had fallen to the ground.
His pupils constricted sharply.
“Su Su.”
Ji Jingzhi rushed forward to help her.
Before he could get close, his outstretched hand was seized by Fu Xicheng, who then raised his leg and delivered a harsh kick to Ji Jingzhi’s shin. Ji Jingzhi winced in pain, his knee buckling as he half-kneelt on the floor.
Fu Xicheng twisted his hand backward.
With a snap, Ji Jingzhi’s hand broke.
“Fu Xicheng, stop!”
Su Tingwan’s eyes filled with tears. She immediately scrambled to her feet and grabbed Fu Xicheng’s arm to stop him before he could act further, her voice trembling with emotion. “You can’t hurt Jingzhi’s hand. His hand is very important!”
Seeing Su Tingwan’s worried face, Fu Xicheng sneered coldly, “Jingzhi’s hand is important, but what about Mu Yan’s hand?”
So that’s it.
Su Tingwan understood now. Fu Xicheng had come because he firmly believed she had deliberately burned Cheng Mu Yan and was here to make her pay on Mu Yan’s behalf.
She yielded.
“I was wrong, isn’t that enough? I shouldn’t have burned Mu Yan’s hand. Let go now, and I’ll apologize to her!”
“Su Su, don’t confess to something you didn’t do. I won’t let you apologize to that manipulative woman.”
No matter what, Ji Jingzhi unconditionally trusted Su Tingwan.
Even though she hadn’t told him about this matter.
“Fu Xicheng, if you have the guts, break my hand—”
“Shut up!”
Su Tingwan interrupted Ji Jingzhi with reddened eyes.
She knew better than anyone how important Ji Jingzhi’s hand was.
He was competing next year, and his dream was to win a gold medal. He had worked hard for years and endured countless hardships for this.
Ji Jingzhi wanted to say more, but Su Tingwan’s look stopped him.
He fell silent.
He understood her.
When she was determined about something, no one could change her mind.
“Let go. I’ll go apologize with you.”
Fu Xicheng looked deeply into Su Tingwan’s eyes and slowly released his grip.
...
The evening lights flickered on.
---
The black Ghost car moved through the crowded traffic.
Once Su Tingwan got in, she closed her eyes, leaning silently against the seat, radiating an aura of refusal to communicate.
She didn’t realize the car was heading not to the First Hospital of Jing City, but to the Imperial Garden.
“Stay away from Ji Jingzhi from now on.”
Fu Xicheng spoke coldly.
Su Tingwan caught the warning in his tone.
She hadn’t wanted to engage with Fu Xicheng, but she was afraid he would hurt Ji Jingzhi.
Given Fu Xicheng’s status in Jing City, harming Ji Jingzhi would be as easy as crushing an ant.
She could only open her eyes and look at Fu Xicheng, earnestly explaining, “Jingzhi and I are just friends.”
“Heh.”
Fu Xicheng scoffed coldly. “Friends? What kind of friends hug and hold each other like that?”
Su Tingwan tried to hold back but couldn’t.
“If you’re not dirty yourself, you wouldn’t see everything else as dirty.”
Her words hung in the air, and the temperature inside the car plummeted.
“What did you say?”
Fu Xicheng suddenly turned the steering wheel and pulled the car to the roadside.
“Click.”
He unbuckled his seatbelt, leaned sideways, and pinned Su Tingwan against the car door, his eyes dangerously fixed on her.
His sudden closeness made Su Tingwan’s breath hitch.
When Fu Xicheng leaned in to kiss her, she instinctively pulled back, tilting her head to avoid his proximity.
Determined not to be affected, she took a deep breath and said coldly, “Are you going to apologize or not? If not, I’m getting out.”
As she spoke, she reached to unbuckle her seatbelt.
A large hand pressed down on hers, closing the open car door, his gaze dark and cold. “If you want to apologize, then apologize properly.”
Fu Xicheng sat back, buckled his seatbelt, made a U-turn, and headed toward the First Hospital of Jing City.
...
First Hospital of Jing City
Su Tingwan followed Fu Xicheng to the hospital’s best ward.
As they reached the door, it was pulled open from the inside.
A doctor stepped out.
Su Tingwan recognized him as the country’s top neurologist.
Standing behind Fu Xicheng, Su Tingwan’s eyes grew icy cold.
Xixi was Fu Xicheng’s daughter. She was seriously ill and had to stay in an ordinary ward.
Cheng Mu Yan had only suffered a scalding injury to her hand, yet Fu Xicheng, not trusting a small hospital’s treatment, had brought her here, arranged for her to stay in the best ward, and even summoned the finest neurologist.
The favored ones were always treated differently.
The doctor, seeing Fu Xicheng, respectfully approached and said, “Mr. Fu, rest assured, Miss Cheng’s hand is fine.”
“Hm.”
Fu Xicheng responded indifferently.
The doctor left.
Fu Xicheng pushed open the door and entered.
---
Inside the ward, the moment Fu Xicheng appeared, Fu Yihuan immediately stood up for Cheng Mu Yan. “Brother, where have you been? How could you leave Mu Yan alone in the hospital?”
Fu Yihuan was Fu Xicheng’s aunt’s daughter, raised by the aunt in the Fu family, taking her surname.
She was also Cheng Mu Yan’s close friend.
As she spoke, she spotted Su Tingwan following behind and her eyes gleamed.
After shooting a spiteful glare at Su Tingwan, she turned to look at Cheng Mu Yan lying in the bed. “Mu Yan, so my brother actually came to bring the culprit to apologize to you. I knew it—my brother cares about you so much, he wouldn’t let Su Tingwan off if she dared to burn you!”
Cheng Mu Yan immediately looked at Fu Xicheng with disapproval. “Xicheng, you wouldn’t really have come just to find Tingwan to apologize for me, would you?!”
Fu Xicheng said nothing. He glanced at Su Tingwan beside him, his eyes dark and unreadable.
Seeing she wouldn’t meet his gaze, her expression stubborn, Fu Xicheng suddenly said sternly, “Apologize!”
Su Tingwan finally responded.
She looked at Fu Xicheng, coldly asking, “Will I be allowed to leave once I apologize?”
Fu Xicheng stared deeply into her eyes, waves of emotion hidden beneath his gaze.
He said nothing, and Su Tingwan took the silence as assent.
She stepped back a pace and sneered at Cheng Mu Yan, “Sorry.”
The three words were flat, without any trace of remorse.
“Tingwan, it’s alright. I know you were impulsive at the time—”
Cheng Mu Yan’s words were cut off by Su Tingwan’s sharp interruption. “Cheng Mu Yan, you know very well how your hand was really injured. I want to see how long you can keep up the act.”
After saying that, Su Tingwan didn’t look at anyone else in the room and turned to leave.
“Tingwan, what kind of attitude is that?”
Fu Yihuan grabbed Su Tingwan’s arm sharply, her tone harsh.
She was furious.
Was this an apology?
It felt like a provocation!
“You get the attitude you deserve!”
Su Tingwan brusquely shook off Fu Yihuan.
Since she was eight and came to the Fu family, Fu Yihuan had always looked down on her.
She had bullied her countless times.
Su Tingwan’s words hit a nerve.
Fu Yihuan, livid, grabbed Su Tingwan again in frustration.
“Tingwan, everyone knows your dirty little schemes. Don’t think that by burning Mu Yan’s hand, your plan to stop her from competing in the jewelry competition will succeed.”
“I’ll tell you, my brother has already sponsored the competition. One phone call from him, and Mu Yan will participate.”
“Mu Yan will definitely win first place, gain our uncle’s approval, and marry into the Fu family. As for you and that little bastard you bore, don’t even think about setting foot in the Fu family for the rest of your life...”
Smack!
Su Tingwan raised her hand and slapped Fu Yihuan hard across the face.
