Volume One, Chapter Twelve: Look at That Fool

The Futu Sword Aura within him was now immensely overbearing. Ordinary swords simply could not withstand it.
Although his strength was still low and the sword in his hand was barely sufficient for the moment, he had no choice but to make plans for the future.
For any sword cultivator, their sword was of paramount importance. Qin Feng’s gaze swept across the treasures in the pavilion.
What good were pieces of Fallen Star Iron from Beyond the Heavens or Extreme Polar Froststar? Such materials were far too weak for him. He wanted something more formidable—something that could be forged into a sword capable of growing alongside him.
If all else failed, he could only begin nurturing a Sword Pill within his own body from this very moment. But that would consume far too much time and energy.
The cost was simply too high for him. More importantly, he could not afford to wait.
Just as Qin Feng finished searching the entire Treasure Pavilion without finding the materials he wanted, the voice of the Nine Nether Empress rang out in his mind.
“If you think none of these materials are suitable, why not try the materials in the Sword Tower? I seem to remember that rewards are given after successfully completing a challenge.”
“But I’m not sure whether I remember correctly. It has been too long.”
The Nine Nether Empress’s words brought Qin Feng to an abrupt halt. His voice was filled with undisguised excitement.
“Senior, is that true?”
His greatest advantage at present was the Primordial Sword Tower. Even the Divine-Demon Sword Bone within his body had been born alongside it.
“I said it was too long ago, and I can’t remember clearly. If you’re interested, you can go in and take another look.”
“Also, let me remind you of something. There is really no need for you to be so wary of me. After all, our goals have been aligned from the very beginning.”
His thoughts had been exposed so bluntly that Qin Feng fell silent for a moment. He did not know how to respond, and the voice in his mind faded away as well.
After thinking it over, Qin Feng decided not to dwell on the matter for now.
Since the Primordial Sword Tower contained materials capable of forging his natal spirit sword, there was no need for him to continue browsing the Treasure Pavilion.
Just as Qin Feng was descending the stairs and preparing to leave, a mocking voice suddenly rang out behind him.
“Look, there’s that fool who crippled his own cultivation!”
“Look at how quickly he’s slinking away in disgrace. With the contribution points he has, he probably can’t even afford the most basic cultivation materials.”
“I wonder what face he has left to remain in the sect. If I were him, I would have resigned and left long ago.”
Qin Feng had never cared much about such ridicule. After all, in these past three years, had he not heard enough of it?
If he had lost his temper and argued every time, he would probably have died of anger long ago.
Now that he knew the Sword Tower contained what he needed, Qin Feng only wanted to leave as quickly as possible. He had not expected the people behind him to grow increasingly insolent.
This time, Qin Feng could no longer endure it.

They could insult him if they wished, but they absolutely could not insult his master!
“Look, that idiot stopped.”
“He even dares to glare at me like that.”
“Do you think keeping vigil for his master’s spirit these past three years has driven him insane? If it were me, I would have found someone powerful in the sect to shelter under.”
“Even if I couldn’t find anyone, I still wouldn’t have crippled my own cultivation. Say, do you think his master had some grudge against him?”
The speaker grew more and more arrogant, completely failing to notice that his companions’ expressions had changed.
“Wait… you… be careful…”
Before his companion could finish speaking—
Bang!
A violent tremor rang out as the man was caught off guard and sent flying by a single punch from Qin Feng.
The wall behind him caved inward, leaving a deep hollow.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
A furious shout exploded through the pavilion, accompanied by a pressure as overwhelming as an avalanche.
Everyone present was instantly cowed by the force. One after another, they lowered their heads and fell to their knees.
Only Qin Feng remained standing. The instant the pressure descended, he instinctively activated the Futu Sword Formula and barely withstood it. Even so, he let out a muffled groan, a faint metallic sweetness filling his mouth.
The old man in charge of the Treasure Pavilion noticed that someone had actually resisted his pressure. A trace of curiosity flashed through his eyes, and almost subconsciously, he increased the pressure further.
Qin Feng continued to grit his teeth and endure. By now, he could feel his bones creaking sharply, as though they might shatter at any moment.
Unbeknownst to him, the Divine-Demon Sword Bone within his body had begun to emit a dim radiance. The profound patterns that had previously lain dormant were also slowly emerging.
At the very last moment, when he was nearly unable to hold on, the old man suddenly withdrew his pressure.
Qin Feng’s entire body relaxed at once, and he nearly collapsed to the ground.
As for the few inner disciples who had already been kneeling on the floor, they looked like dying dogs. They could barely even draw breath.
The old man snorted coldly at their disgraceful appearance.
“Explain yourselves. What exactly happened? How dare you start fighting in my pavilion?”
The men questioned by the old man did not dare delay. They took a breath and were just about to speak when Qin Feng’s voice rang out ahead of them.
“Reporting to Elder, these men were the ones who first insulted my master. I could not bear it, so…”
“However, it was indeed wrong of me to fight in the Treasure Pavilion. I accept my punishment.”
Qin Feng recounted the entire affair in one breath, leaving them no chance to interrupt.

He naturally knew that the elder in charge of the Treasure Pavilion valued disciples who possessed backbone and took responsibility for their actions. Though Qin Feng had acted impulsively, he had also thought the matter through.
The men opposite him, however, were different. Upon hearing Qin Feng say that the entire affair was their fault, they hurriedly protested.
“Elder, don’t listen to his nonsense! We merely tried to advise him a little. Who knows whether he suddenly lost his mind and attacked us!”
“Exactly! Elder, you should punish someone like him severely!”
“That’s right, Elder. He deserves severe punishment!”
Their voices were heated, and their eyes were filled with hatred as they glared at Qin Feng. They hoped the elder would drive him from the sect entirely. If that happened, then once Jade Radiance Peak was divided among them, they might even get a share.
They would no longer have to live crammed together on Vault of Heaven Peak!
“Silence!”
The old man’s pressure spread through the pavilion, and the men immediately shut their mouths.
“Do you take this old man for a deaf man or a blind one? Do you think I don’t know what you were doing just now?”
“As for the sect’s rules, clearly you have learned none of them. Very well—copy them! Every one of you will copy the sect regulations three thousand times. You are forbidden from having anyone write them for you!”
The old man’s gaze sharpened.
“As for you…”
His eyes shifted to Qin Feng.
“In consideration of your respect for your master and the circumstances, you will copy them only one thousand times.”
“Yes.”
Qin Feng bowed respectfully. The others, however, were visibly dissatisfied. Why should Qin Feng receive a lighter punishment after beating them?
“If you are dissatisfied, then all of you can go to the rear mountain.”
At those words, everyone immediately fell silent.
Qin Feng sincerely thanked the old man, and the matter came to an end.
Watching Qin Feng leave, the elder nodded in satisfaction.
When Qin Feng returned to his residence, copying the sect regulations a thousand times was not difficult for him. Each copy contained more than ten thousand words, and since he was permitted to use spiritual energy, Qin Feng finished the task quickly.
Once it was done, Qin Feng entered the Primordial Sword Tower. The instant he stepped inside, he realized that something was wrong.
