Bo Bingqian stood in front of the Buddha statue, suddenly feeling his heart beat faster.

With every single beat, it thudded with a powerful force.

Before Bo Bingqian even realized what he was doing, his fingers had already touched the face of the Buddha statue.

"Second Young Master, what are you...?"

The housekeeper looked at Bo Bingqian with a strange expression. Touching a Buddha statue casually was a major taboo. Although the Second Young Master usually did not believe in these things, out of respect for the Elder Master, he had always treated them with reverence. Yet, acting so impolitely now was truly bizarre.

It was indeed very strange.

Only then did Bo Bingqian realize what he had just done, and he quickly withdrew his hand.

"Some dust had settled on the Buddha statue just now. My apologies."

Bo Bingqian offered an explanation, prompting the housekeeper to withdraw his probing gaze.

"On the day Grandpa had his accident, was he alone in the room with Miss Meng?"

The housekeeper put down the bowl of congee in his hands.

Bo Bingqian had already asked this question before. He wondered why it was being brought up again.

"I was in the kitchen stewing fish soup at the time. When I returned, apart from Miss Meng and the Elder Master, the Third Young Madam was also in the room."

When the incident occurred, Xia Yuehuan had happened to walk in just as Elder Master Bo shoved Meng Xiangyi away.

It was precisely because of this that the entire Bo family unanimously believed Elder Master Bo harbored a dislike for Meng Xiangyi, and that his anger—prompted by pushing her away—had triggered his stroke.

For Bo Bingqian to repeatedly question this matter, could he have discovered something fishy about it?

A glimmer of anticipation stirred within me. If he could uncover the truth, he would surely see Meng Xiangyi's true face.

That would be a blessing for Grandpa.

Right now, Meng Xiangyi was still injured and unable to approach Grandpa. Once she recovered and came back to torment Grandpa, I wouldn't be able to protect him at all.

Bo Bingqian asked no further questions; he merely cast another glance at the Buddha statue and walked away.

Before leaving, however, he did one thing—he instructed Luchuan to return all the tonics sent by Meng Xiangyi.

Because of his poor health in childhood, Luchuan had served as Bo Bingqian's personal bodyguard, staying by his side for over a decade.

Although I didn't understand the intention behind Bo Bingqian's actions, I could sense that he was beginning to realize something was amiss with Meng Xiangyi.

Returning to Bo Congnan's side, I found him keeping company with Meng Xiangyi.

The Shen family parents hovered around Meng Xiangyi. Fang Lanru had brewed bone broth and was feeding it to Meng Xiangyi a spoonful at a time, while Shen Yikang peeled fruit on the other side.

Bo Congnan had come specifically to visit Meng Xiangyi.

He was scheduled to leave for country M soon, and with no telling what might happen during this trip—especially since rescuing someone from Titan's hands definitely could not be accomplished in a day or two—he decided to inform Meng Xiangyi before his departure.

"Sister Xiangyi, my flight to country M is tomorrow afternoon. You must take good care of your recovery here in the country."

Meng Xiangyi looked at him with an expression full of reluctance to part. "You must return as soon as possible. And Zhiyi... you must talk things through with her properly and stop holding a grudge."

Shortly after her voice trailed off, a knock sounded at the door.

Bo Congnan turned to open it, and the moment the door swung wide, he saw Luchuan standing outside holding a pile of gift boxes.

He merely cast a cold glance before his brow furrowed. "Why did you bring these things back again?"

These were the exact tonics Sister Xiangyi had instructed him to bring to Grandpa this morning.

Yet Bo Bingqian's people had sent these tonics back, completely unopened and intact. This was undoubtedly a direct slap in the face.

Luchuan ignored Bo Congnan's interrogation and stated in a strictly professional tone: "Sir has given orders that Miss Meng's items are no longer to be brought before the Elder Master, lest they stir up his anger again."

"And what is the reason for this?" Bo Congnan let out a cold laugh. "Could it be that Second Brother is trying to take advantage of Grandpa's illness to place him under house arrest and prevent anyone from visiting?"

"If that is Second Brother's intention, don't blame me, his younger brother, for being impolite."

If Bo Bingqian truly dared to place Grandpa under house arrest to seize control of the Bo Corporation, he would certainly not sit idly by and wait for his doom.

Luchuan showed no fear of Bo Congnan, enunciating every word clearly: "Sir said that on the day the Elder Master suffered a stroke, Miss Meng was the only person in the room with him. It is therefore evident that the Elder Master must not be allowed to have any further contact with Miss Meng."

This statement was not the least bit polite; it practically accused Meng Xiangyi outright of being the culprit who harmed Elder Master Bo.

Having the tonics she sent returned had already left Meng Xiangyi feeling aggrieved, and hearing these words made her even less able to sit still.

"That day, I only went to Grandpa's room out of kindness to deliver soup. How on earth did I become a sinner who deliberately harmed Grandpa in Second Brother's eyes? Did anyone witness me doing something to hurt Grandpa? If so, they can step forward and accuse me, rather than resorting to baseless, empty accusations like Second Brother."

Her words were laced with deep grievance, making her look as though she had been severely wronged.

Bo Congnan also chimed in, "On the day Grandpa collapsed, my mother clearly saw that Grandpa himself grew too irritated and reached out to push Sister Xiangyi. That emotional agitation was what triggered his stroke. How did it somehow become Sister Xiangyi's fault in Second Brother's eyes?"

"Sir stated that when Madam rushed over, she merely happened to catch the moment the Elder Master pushed someone away. But what did Miss Meng say and do right before that push? Perhaps only Miss Meng herself knows."

Perhaps from staying by Bo Bingqian's side for so long, even Luchuan's gaze had grown remarkably sharp as he stared directly at Meng Xiangyi.

Watching from the side, I actually caught a flicker of panic in her eyes.

Yet she quickly regained her composure.

"Before that, I didn't say anything, nor did I do anything. As for why Grandpa pushed me... it was probably because of Zhiyi. I know Grandpa has always hated me because Congnan abandoned Zhiyi on their wedding day to accompany me to a racing competition, but..."

Meng Xiangyi lowered her voice. "But that day, I wasn't pestering Congnan. Besides, the importance of the MB race is no less than the NJ tournament; Congnan did it to better understand the tactics of other racing teams so that we would have a greater chance of winning by knowing both ourselves and the enemy."

Heh.

In a single breath, Meng Xiangyi completely distanced herself from any blame. I had once thought she loved Bo Congnan deeply, but in the end, she was nothing more than this.

Yet Bo Congnan, acting like a fool, was entirely consumed by the thought that Bo Bingqian was placing Elder Master Bo under house arrest to fight for the family estate, completely failing to hear how Meng Xiangyi had just secretly shifted all the blame onto him.

"Is Second Brother acting for Grandpa's sake, or for his own? Besides, these tonics were gifts from Sister Xiangyi to nourish Grandpa's health. By what right does Second Brother arbitrarily decide to return them?"

Fang Lanru naturally rallied to protect Meng Xiangyi as well. "Exactly! The Second Young Master cannot act so arbitrarily and dispose of the Elder Master's belongings at will, especially since these tonics were carefully selected by Xiangyi."

Looking at this family, Luchuan felt a cold sneer welling up inside him.

Not a single person in this family cared about Miss Shen. Miss Shen had been abandoned on her wedding day, so naturally, the Elder Master was furious.

Yet this Miss Meng insisted on inserting herself before the Elder Master, sneaking past the housekeeper's blockades despite being stopped several times.

Who knew if she had done it on purpose?

With a wave of Luchuan's hand, the bodyguards behind him placed the tonics at the entrance of the hospital ward and stopped speaking to them altogether.

"If Miss Meng is dissatisfied with this outcome, she is welcome to come and see Sir at any time."

Ignoring Bo Congnan entirely, Luchuan turned and walked away.

Back at the clubhouse, the more Bo Congnan thought about it, the angrier he grew.

"Boss, everything has been arranged with Titan. Tomorrow's afternoon flight will arrive before eight o'clock in the evening."

Clutching the share transfer agreement in his hand, Bo Congnan wore an extremely ugly expression. "Change my ticket for me first. I have an urgent matter and cannot go to country M for the time being."
