Chapter 55: The Savage Emerges
The night was cold, but the bed was warm, and the two held each other tightly. Chen Fan, still recovering from his earlier injuries, had just regained his strength and soon fell into a deep, exhausted sleep.
In his dreams, Chen Fan vaguely felt a delicate hand gently pulling his own, placing it on a smooth patch of skin. Then, a soft voice whispered in his ear, “My back itches, help me scratch it…”
...
[Weather: Overcast, Temperature: -70°]
[Daylight Hours: 6 hours]
[Reminder: Time since the onset of the bitter winter is unknown.]
Morning broke, still gray and heavy. On the endless white snow, a dozen or so white humanoid figures emerged from the forest, braving the fierce wind. They glanced around, seemingly searching for something.
Chen Fan, half-awake, slowly opened his eyes and struggled to move his arm. It felt numb and foreign, tingling uncontrollably.
“My hand’s so numb!” he muttered, shaking it lightly.
Outside the window, several shadows appeared. Through the blurry glass, Chen Fan could barely make out their shapes. He widened his eyes, staring intently, recalling information he had gleaned earlier from the world chat channel. Whispering to himself, he said,
“Savages?”
To confirm his suspicion, he wiped the glass and pressed his face closer to the window.
A dozen white humanoid creatures stood in his sight, their thick white fur blending almost seamlessly with the surrounding snow. Their bodies were about the size of an average adult, and each carried a stone sword.
Realizing the danger, Chen Fan quickly shook Yang Keli awake. “Keli, get up! There might be savages nearby.”
Yang Keli jolted awake, absorbing the situation before falling into thought.
“What should we do next?”
“First, wake everyone up and bring them to the second floor,” Chen Fan said gravely.
“Got it!” Yang Keli immediately dressed and hurried to wake Ram and the others on the first floor.
Meanwhile, Chen Fan continued to observe through the glass. The savages were approaching, gesturing and making signs with their hands.
...
From the nearby forest, more savages appeared, gradually increasing their number.
Chen Fan roughly counted—there were at least twenty of them. Frowning, he noted their diversity: two of them had 100 health points each and wielded iron swords, while the rest, with 60 health points apiece, brandished stone swords.
“This is going to be tough,” he muttered.
The group gathered on the second floor, weapons in hand, waiting for Chen Fan’s command.
“Brother Fan, how’s it outside?” Xu Xinjie ran up and asked, noticing Chen Fan’s gaze fixed on the window.
“There are over twenty savages outside. Among them…” Chen Fan detailed the situation.
The group’s faces grew serious, each pondering how to respond. The biggest concern was that the savages could summon reinforcements.
“Why don’t we split into three groups?” Xu Xinjie suggested.
Chen Fan looked up, considering the proposal workable. Though numerous, the savages were mindless, charging recklessly.
After a moment’s thought, Chen Fan issued orders. “Ram and Rem, you take the right side. Xinjie and Cheng Dong, you head left.”
“Keli, Thor, stay with me in the center to draw their attention.”
Ram and Rem exchanged a determined glance, nodding firmly. “Yes, Master.”
Xu Xinjie patted Li Cheng Dong on the shoulder confidently. “Brother, we can’t slack on the left side either.”
Through the glass, Chen Fan saw the savages closing in on the house. His voice was low but resolute.
“Move out!”
At his command, Xu Xinjie and the others hurried downstairs.
As the second-floor door swung open, a biting wind blasted them back a few steps.
The cold gust roared like a mighty lion, carrying dust and swirling snow.
Chen Fan barely opened his eyes as the relentless snowflakes drifted down, the icy wind cutting in waves.
He instinctively pulled his neck inward, gripping his diamond sword tightly. Leaping from the second floor, he swung his blade at the skull of a savage.

The surrounding savages were startled, letting out wild cries as they charged with their stone swords.
The savage Chen Fan struck hadn’t yet reacted before he was slain by his second blow, dropping a tea seed and some experience.
Seeing the tea seed drop, Chen Fan shouted excitedly, “Let’s go!”
He recalled that in the Void World 2 mod, there was a chance to find Life Stones or Energy Stones.
...
Yang Keli gripped her weapon tightly, determination shining in her eyes as she charged forward without hesitation.
Thor crouched slightly, adopting a battle stance.
“How dare you disturb our master! You’re all going to die!”
The savages quickly surrounded them, their eyes gleaming with excitement, growling nonstop when they saw Yang Keli and the others.
Suddenly, a towering savage leapt forward, raising his sword high to strike at Chen Fan.
Chen Fan remained calm, raising his iron shield to block. The savage’s iron sword clanged loudly against it, sparks flying.
Seizing the moment, Chen Fan thrust his sword forward and swiftly kicked the savage in the stomach, knocking him down.
He followed with two quick strikes, eliminating the threat.
At that moment, a pleasant chime sounded—Chen Fan leveled up to 43.
Simultaneously, Xu Xinjie and the others burst from the left and right, encircling the twenty or so savages and unleashing a brutal slaughter.
The savages grew even more excited upon seeing Ram and the others, shouting enthusiastically. One of the iron-sword wielders even pulled a horn from his waist.
Seeing this, Chen Fan thought quickly and switched to his bow, aiming at the savage’s arm to shoot an arrow.
The arrow struck precisely, causing the savage to howl in pain as the horn fell to the ground.
Chen Fan stepped forward, bringing his sword down to prevent the savage from retrieving the horn.
The savage roared angrily, swinging his iron sword in retaliation.
Chen Fan dodged swiftly, slicing across the savage’s waist with his diamond sword.

He then swept his leg, kicking the savage’s ankle hard.
The savage stumbled, losing balance.
Chen Fan seized the opportunity, thrusting his sword into the savage’s waist, killing him.
He snorted disdainfully, then launched a fierce assault on the remaining savages.
Those with stone swords were no match for Chen Fan, usually falling within two strikes.
Before long, the twenty-plus savages had been wiped out, leaving behind a pile of loot.
