Chapter 32: The Misunderstanding Is Resolved
When the crowd saw the blood-stained iron swords in the hands of Rem and Ram, they were immediately startled.
"You... you can't go in. This... this is Boss Chen Fan’s wooden cabin."
The bespectacled boy spoke with a trembling voice. His body shook uncontrollably, yet he still tried his best to display some courage.
"That’s right, this is theft! If you dare to go in, we..." Li Mengyao paused, then gathered her courage and said loudly, "We won't just stand by and watch! We’ll fight you if we have to!"
Rem and Ram frowned, exchanged glances, and began to whisper to each other.
"Sister, judging by what they’re saying, it seems they know the Master?"
"Whether they know him or not, those who dare to trespass shall be executed," Ram said, her eyes filled with murderous intent. "Go back if you have nothing better to do. If you have business with our Master, come back later."
With that, they both raised their blood-stained iron swords toward the group. Seeing this, the bespectacled boy and the others retreated a few steps, swallowing hard in fear. They hadn't expected such beautiful girls to be so vicious.
Just as they were wondering what to do next, a familiar voice rang out.
"What are you all doing here?"
The group looked toward the sound and saw Chen Fan walking slowly from a short distance away.
"Ram, Rem, what happened?" He glanced at the boy and the others, his face devoid of emotion. "Are they trying to steal something?"
Upon hearing this, the boy’s pupils dilated instantly, and he hurriedly explained, "Boss Chen Fan, we..."
"Shut up!"
Chen Fan’s eyes were filled with murderous intent. A diamond sword appeared in his hand instantly, the tip pointed directly at the boy. "Say one more word, and you die!"
"Master, it was like this..." Ram briefly explained what had happened.
When they heard these two women calling Chen Fan "Master," the group looked at the stunningly beautiful pair and then at the average-looking Chen Fan with deep suspicion. They muttered to themselves, unable to figure out what they were lacking compared to him.
What a beast! How could such beautiful girls call Chen Fan "Master"? The men in the group immediately had lecherous thoughts, and looking at the beauty of the two, they couldn't help but sigh in their hearts, wondering why they didn't have such luck.
Their faces stiffened as they kept reminding themselves that these women belonged to Chen Fan and that they shouldn't harbor any crooked thoughts, or they might lose their lives.
Just as everyone was awkwardly accepting this cruel reality, a sweet voice drifted out from the wooden cabin.
"Chen Fan, guess what I dug up?"
The door of the cabin was pushed open with a bang, and Yang Keli walked out, immediately wrapping her arms around Chen Fan’s. Seeing the scene before her, she asked, puzzled, "Chen Fan, were they here to steal something?"
The crowd: "..."
Chen Fan didn't respond to Yang Keli immediately. Instead, he turned to the bespectacled boy and the others and said calmly, "Thanks for today, even though it was just a misunderstanding."
He then took several loaves of bread from his inventory and tossed them over. "Take this as a reward for your help today. It’s fine now; go back and continue building your cabins."
The boy and the others caught the bread and stammered, "Thank you, Boss Chen Fan. We’ll go back now."
With that, they turned and hurried away, occasionally glancing back at Yang Keli and the others, their eyes still lingering with a mix of awe and resentment.
Chen Fan watched them leave, shook his head slightly, and said to Yang Keli, "They weren't here to steal; it was a misunderstanding. What did you say you dug up?"
Yang Keli smiled mysteriously and dumped out everything she had mined. Chen Fan’s eyes went wide as he looked at the ore on the ground. After collecting the items, he opened his inventory and gasped, "Holy crap, so much!"
Inside his inventory were one and a half stacks of iron ore, 12 diamonds, 8 emeralds, two stacks of redstone dust, one stack of lapis lazuli, and 35 gold ores.
Chen Fan’s mouth stretched into a wide grin. In his excitement, he kissed Yang Keli on the cheek. "You really are my lucky star!"
Yang Keli froze on the spot, her eyes wide, her face a mix of shock and shyness. Her mind went blank. A visible blush spread across her cheeks and down to her ears.
Chen Fan, failing to notice her reaction, excitedly walked toward the furnace to smelt the ores, especially the gold, so he could craft golden apples and golden carrots.
...
During this time, people arrived one after another to purchase items from Chen Fan and began building their own wooden cabins nearby. Some survivors paid to have Rem and others help with the construction, which Chen Fan gladly accepted. The fee was based on area—for a 5x5 space, he charged 100 gold coins, with the materials provided by the client, and Rem and the others simply handled the construction.
As darkness fell, most people in the region gathered around Chen Fan, making the area look like a small village. Others who were still on their way simply dug holes to hide in once it got dark, waiting for the next day.
Chen Fan took stock and found he was only two thousand gold coins away from expanding his territory. He had 54 stacks of logs, enough to fill a large chest. As for cobblestone, he had two full chests, which was plenty—if he ran out, he could always go dig more.
He had played Minecraft for so long and had never seen so many logs; being a merchant was certainly the most comfortable life.
Chen Fan closed the chest. He planned to go out alone tomorrow to scavenge for resources, leaving Rem to guard the base, Ram to farm bones, and Yang Keli to continue mining. Now that the business had taken shape, he believed it wouldn't be long before it truly flourished.
By nightfall, some of the crops in the fields had matured. Chen Fan harvested them and replanted the seeds in the empty spots, filling the entire field. Carrying 10 carrots, 8 potatoes, and 5 melon slices, he returned to the second floor of the cabin.
Rem and Ram were already fast asleep. Yang Keli, who had been yawning, perked up slightly when she saw Chen Fan approach. "You’re back. I’ve already warmed up the bed; we can sleep now."
As she spoke, she grew drowsy again. Seeing her state, Chen Fan smiled and said, "If you’re tired, just sleep. Why force yourself?"
He gently stroked her head. Yang Keli, eyes bleary with sleep, rubbed them with her hands, yawned again, nodded, and lay down on the bed.
Before long, Yang Keli was fast asleep, emitting soft, cute snoring sounds. Watching her, Chen Fan lay down and stared at the ceiling, wondering whether he should separate the four beds. After all, with no gaps between them, they looked like one giant bed.
In the middle of the night, Yang Keli, as usual, snuggled into his arms. Chen Fan opened his eyes groggily and saw the moonlight shining on her delicate, lovely face.
