Gu Qingshuang turned around happily and opened the door of her Porsche. “Please get in.”

Once inside, Fang Tao suddenly asked, “By the way, what’s your surname again?”

Gu Qingshuang was slightly taken aback but patiently replied, “My surname is Gu, from the Gu family in East City. You should have heard of us, right?”

“Never heard of it…” Fang Tao said, a bit awkwardly. After all, everyone in Shen City knew the Gu family was one of the five great clans. Still, she smiled and said, “Now you know.”

As the car started, Yan Dafu took out his phone in the courtyard and made a call.

He reported respectfully, “Master, he has put on the ring.”

An aged voice came from the other end, “So, the Wang family has kicked him out?”

“Yes, just as you predicted years ago—exactly three years, not a day more or less,” Yan Dafu said with full respect.

“Let him continue his trials among mortals. Remember, don’t let him know I’m still alive. I have matters to settle here.”

“What about the Wang family?” Yan Dafu hesitated.

“He was married into the Wang family as gratitude, but he never wanted it to begin with. Now that the Wang family doesn’t cherish him, let them be,” the elder sighed.

“He often comes to offer incense and has been to Qinglong Mountain, as if searching for something.”

“Let him be! The Fang family has sought him out, and with the Tang family’s daughter involved, he’s stretched thin. When the time comes, he will understand.”

Yan Dafu gazed at the closed gate and whispered, “The Fifth Master is about to return to the world. It’s time to reveal it to all!”

The car soon arrived at the Gu family estate in East City. Gu Qingshuang called out, “Doctor Fang, we’re here.” But Fang Tao didn’t respond.

She turned to see Fang Tao clutching the old suitcase, sound asleep, drooling onto the seat. Gu Qingshuang couldn’t help but laugh softly and nudged him gently.

“What’s up?” Fang Tao mumbled drowsily.

“We’re home. Time to get out,” Gu Qingshuang whispered.

“Huh? That fast? I haven’t finished my dream yet…” Fang Tao groaned as he got out, stretching lazily.

Suddenly, Gu Qingshuang grew anxious. “My grandfather is ill. You must help him.”

Fang Tao followed Gu Qingshuang inside the mansion. Just as they entered, a teasing voice rang out: “Oh, Gu Qingshuang, is this the miracle doctor you invited?”

Gu Qingshuang was a little annoyed. “Step aside. This is Doctor Fang, recommended by my third uncle. He says he can cure grandfather.”

“Miracle doctor? This young man hardly looks like one. You’ll try anything to please Grandpa!” The speaker was Gu Xinyu, the eldest son of the Gu family, a lean young man in his mid-twenties.

“But he healed Uncle’s old injury,” Gu Qingshuang insisted.

“That’s different. Anyone can treat minor wounds. Grandpa’s illness is complicated. You really think this charlatan can handle it?” Gu Xinyu sneered.

Gu Qingshuang glanced at Fang Tao, puzzled. Fang Tao only smiled faintly, offering no defense.

Gu Xinyu boasted, “My father has already invited a true expert, Director Li Jianfei. He’s treating Grandpa now, and he should recover soon.”

Gu Qingshuang was shocked. “You actually brought Director Li here?”

“This so-called ‘miracle doctor’ should just leave! Our Gu family is wealthy but not to be trifled with!” Gu Xinyu said arrogantly.

Gu Qingshuang looked at Fang Tao helplessly.

“Li Jianfei? Hmph, who does he think he is?” Fang Tao said disdainfully. “Don’t worry. I’ll wait outside. Someone will invite me in soon enough.”

“If someone invites you, I’ll call you brother,” Gu Xinyu scoffed.

Fang Tao waited outside the courtyard.

Gu Qingshuang had always been sincere; it was clear how deeply she cared for her grandfather.

Fang Tao’s reason for staying was simple: he needed to earn money to help his master repay debts.

Watching Fang Tao walk away in anger, Gu Qingshuang stomped her foot and scolded her brother, “Why did you have to do that?” She wanted to chase after him but hesitated, worried about her grandfather. With a heavy heart, she returned inside.

In the bedroom, Gu family elder Gu Yuanzhou and a doctor in his fifties were performing acupuncture on the bedridden old man, who looked pale and weak. The doctor was sweating profusely, hesitant to insert the needles.

After a while, the doctor sighed helplessly, withdrew the needles, and apologized, “Mr. Gu, I’m afraid your father’s illness is beyond me. You should prepare for the worst.”

Despite his deep disappointment, Gu Yuanzhou accepted reality and promised to reward the doctor.

Director Li Jianfei wanted to politely decline when Gu Qingshuang rushed in anxiously.

“Uncle, how is Grandpa?” she asked.

“Qingshuang, don’t be too sad. Your grandfather is old,” Gu Yuanzhou tried to comfort her.

“No, Grandpa will be fine. Isn’t Director Li here? Even he can’t help?” Gu Qingshuang’s eyes reddened.

“Miss Gu, I’m very sorry. There’s truly nothing I can do,” Director Li said with deep regret.

Suddenly, Gu Qingshuang remembered, “My third uncle introduced a miracle doctor named Fang. He said he could save Grandpa. I’ve already invited him.”

“Qingshuang, I understand how you feel, but Director Li has already spoken,” Gu Yuanzhou said.

Director Li interrupted, “Miss Gu, which Doctor Fang are you talking about? Is it the one from the old street corner?”

Gu Qingshuang hesitated, then nodded.

A glimmer of hope flashed in Director Li’s eyes. “If it’s truly that Doctor Fang, then maybe there’s still hope.”

Hearing this, Gu Yuanzhou was stunned. Their preparations for the worst might yet be overturned.

“Don’t just stand there, Miss Gu! It’s great you brought Doctor Fang here. Where is he?” Director Li was unusually excited.

Gu Qingshuang pointed toward the gate, her face filled with frustration. “He came, but Gu Xinyu kicked him out.”

Li Jianfei stomped his foot in anger. “What are you waiting for? Go bring him back!”

Only then did Gu Yuanzhou come to his senses, anxiously turning to his daughter, “Qingshuang, tell me where Doctor Fang is. Take me to find him!”

The three of them hurried out, while Gu Xinyu stood frozen in the courtyard, staring fixedly at the gate.

“Dad, how is Grandpa now?” Gu Xinyu asked as they emerged.

Gu Yuanzhou snorted coldly, pushing him aside without a word.

Outside the courtyard, Fang Tao leisurely chewed on a green bamboo leaf, leaning against his Porsche, gazing at the sky in a daze.

“Doctor Fang!” Gu Qingshuang saw he was still there and breathed a sigh of relief, running over and patting her chest. “You’re still here. That’s wonderful.”

“What’s wrong? Is it bad?” Fang Tao asked lazily.

Gu Yuanzhou looked at this ordinary young man suspiciously. “Is this really the legendary Doctor Fang? Are you sure?”

At that moment, Li Jianfei hurried over to Fang Tao, speaking in a flattering tone, “Doctor Fang, do you remember me?”
